Ravens Trade WR/KR David Reed to Colts for RB Delone Carter

Exactly nk. If you guys have not noticed Bernard is used instead of rice in dire rushing situations. And over the Super Bowl run, who was the better rusher ? Pierce is simply better at running the football. No if ands or buts.

Ignoring all of the obvious reasons why this will never happen, let me point to the salary cap. Denver could not absorb Rice's salary. Thomas is still on his cap friendly rookie deal.

According to this, Broncos have around 10M in cap space. They could make some moves or dip into next years allotment (or prior years if they have some)

Oh yea? Care to elaberate?

I have forgot more about the NFL than you will ever know.

Explain what happens to the 15M signing bonus if we were to trade Rice.

Have you even considered the money aspect? It costs us more than we'd save if we traded him.

How?

His Cap hit would xfer with him.

I would MUCH rather play someone like Thomas 10M a year than someone who we can replace with a 2-3rnd rounder every 5 years.

Thomas even made Tebow look good.

Broncos are stacked at WR. They also have two good TE's. They need a RB..... This is just an idea.

Like, I said. Some people don't understand how the NFL works. Let him embarrass himself and we can just laugh.

Maybe we'll be trading Carter (+ picks next year?) for a WR to a team desperate for a RB? That is, if we even make another trade. Who knows.

I don't understand the trade we made, other than to save some money. So I'm just throwing ideas out there.

No. The bonus money stays on the books with us.

It would be spread out over the next two years, 7.5 a year. With Rice being gone, it would still lower our Cap and by year 2, we would have enough to resign Thomas, especialy if he lets us do a cap friendly restructure.

Its not easy but its doable. I certainly think Ozzie is capable.

Um...what? Is this guy serious?

I would've never seen that *throw up* if people never quoted him lol. It's laughable

Yea, but its after June 1, so its spread out over next two years.

That's a lot of money to eat, and then we'd have to pay whatever receiver we get. Not happening.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rice is shopped in the last year of his contract, but it's too big of a financial hit to dump him now.  And we don't have a proven rusher to replace his production, despite the promise that Pierce has shown.

And the 60+ balls that Rice catches every year. Some people like to conveniently forget how big of a role he has in the passing game as well.

Although I'm hoping the check down will be less common now that the route tree is more advanced than just the 9 route and the deep deep out.

I hope the check-down is less common too, but I still expect him to be a big factor, especially if he is going to be flexed out more frequently as a slot receiver.

Benard is a better rusher than Rice. Thats pretty indisputable.

And what if his replacement is targeted as much?  Mind just blown.

I wouldn't call it indisputable. After one season? Let's be reasonable.

I'm going to hit you up.

I wouldn't trade Rice unless a good WR and more was included lol.

Thomas is good. Too good. He's a freak athlete. No way in HELL the Broncos trade him.

Targets don't equal productive catches. Rice is one of the most dangerous players in the game when he has some room to operate.

wow didnt think this would happen especially when Jones may be seeing alot more time as a receiver than kick returner. Reed was clearly the second best kick returner on the team and i figure this would be the year where he will shine on offense but good luck to him the colts even have a good resume when it comes to developing receivers as well

Oh it's common knowledge..

It only takes a couple good games to make you better than one of the best backs in the game

I know there is a lot of David Reed haters here and I will not argue one iota either.
I was not a big fan either, but even the biggest hater has got to admit this is a pretty epic return.

1. Thomas is a stud
2. Rice costs $$$$$$
3. Pierce is good but not as good as everyone makes him out to be
4. Elway isn't a moron. Arrogant maybe but not stupid.
5. Thomas is a stud

And Rice for Decker would just be stupid lol.

Decker is good and all, but he's not a stud like Thomas is.
