The fan in Indianapolis is reporting (Mike Chapel) that the Colts have trade
Delone Carter RB to the Ravens. I was not able to read for who though. Thoughts?

It better not be for a draft pick. This is utterly pointless though imho.

The Ravens have traded WR David Reed to the Colts for RB Delone Carter.

Last season, Carter played in 10 games and ran the ball 32 times for 122 yards and three touchdowns. A fourth-round pick out of Syracuse in 2011, Carter played for Ravens Offensive Coordinator Jim Caldwell during his rookie season. He started three games that year, ran for 377 yards and scored two touchdowns.

This is pretty stupid.  It seems like we are just gathering up all the Colts guys that no one wants because of Caldwell.

Don't like this move. As much as I dislike Reed, we needed the depth at receiver and the special teams contribution. Wouldn't have resigned him, but still.

Wow we give up a guy at a position where our depth is questionable for a guy at one of our deepest positions? If this is true it doesn't make sense to me...

Whatever.  On a team that needs WR help, we trade one away for a frustrating RB.

I've never been the biggest Reed fan, but now it seems like we are just getting Caldwell's guys that no one wants.

Just saw that per Schefter. All I gotta say is "what"? I'm sure we had a good reason but we are already so stacked at RB that it caught me off guard. LB, CB, OL I would expect to be looking to add, but not a RB hmmm. Maybe he's a good ST player as well, that would make a little more sense

Then what are you complaining about???

Maybe Carter can play special teams? To be honest Reed isn't the best KR or PR or WR so no need having him? At least thats my view

I believe Carter only notched one ST tackle last year.

I'm actually glad Reed is gone.  It just seems like bad things happen when he's around the ball.  But I don't see the point of this trade.

Carter has a much better shot of making the roster than Reed did. The 3rd RB spot is open, in my book. Allen (who is leading the bunch), Rainey, and Berry aren't doing much.

The fact that we resigned Reed in the first place, have problems at receiver which we proceeded to amplify (even insignificantly so) by getting rid of another receiving option for a position we absolutely don't need.

I LOVE this trade

Don't know if sarcasm or not but I like it as well. I have heard nothing about Reed at wr and give us more depth at a position of strength. I think the team goes run heavy early in the season while getting the young receivers up to speed and the new pieces integrated. Also allows us to use Rice more in the receiving game with another back to spell Pierce.

This is like that Jon Baldwin for AJ Jenkins trade.  Lateral move.

No its actually backwards for us because we have problems at the receiver position and all we did was make them a bit bigger considering the fact that while insignificant Reed was a receiving option.

Expect more of the same from Carter.

This preseason Carter has a 2.7 average compared to Allen's 3.8.  Both only off 10 carries (limited sample size).

No sarcasm at all. I think this was a great trade. For both teams

Tbh given the lack of receivers and Reed's ability to contribute on S/T (especially since we probably don't want Jacoby returning kicks), I'm not so sure this is true.

I get trading away Reed, he was very much on the bubble to make the team. Why Delone Carter though? He has been a bust for the Colts. Maybe a few moments of decent play and I thought we had pretty good depth at RB. Very strange.
