Mods is there a point to 2 threads?

This one gets started in Ravens Talk well before the game. We let it go until game time. The Official one is started by staff a day or two before the game and runs throughout the game. It is linked to from the Gameday page.

what are the fans under those banners doing. they can't see a thing and its 94 degrees out.

I think those are just individual cards that the fans hold up. We did that at a Ravens game once.

we need to improve our conditioning, fundamentals, and communication. Looks fixable.

if we got ate up in the trenches i'd be more concerned. Wake-up call we needed early in the season in order to repeat.

Oh well, hope we get better next week.  It was a bad night for a new defense... I can cut them some slack they did just win a superbowl and lost a lot of players.  I think the defense will get better by the time we play the Bengals and Steelers.

Hopefully we don't get complaints about having primetime games like the general conscience was before the Harbaugh era. We ain't scared of the stage and it's good to see us on national TV!

Our secondary needs some serious work. Dline did a great job getting pressure on Manning got some sacks, but our secondary looks pretty bad. But it's only our first game, and it was against Peyton Manning so yea.

Ugly overall. Hope Jacoby and Oher are okay.

Clark had a huge drop, but didn't do terribly outside of that. Dickson looked bad.

Good to see Marlon show some more promise. We need to activate more than 4 receivers. Thought that was a bad decision to begin with.

Bynes didn't play well on the defensive side. DL held up fairly well.

DBs were rough all around except Webb. Graham and Huff had a rough night. Jimmy was hit or miss. Ihedigbo wasn't too bad either.

The Good:

Marlon Brown: This guy is better than advertised. I had a thought that when Jones went down it might be a blessing in disguise. Maybe start him next week, but definitely get him on the field.

Lardarius Webb: It's good to see him back on the field. When I saw Graham on the inside I was almost livid(more on that later). A healthy Webb is great for this defense moving forward.

Suggs and Dumervil: These two managed to pressure Peyton Manning on several occasions. I can't wait to see what they can do to a lesser offensive line.

Torrey Smith: Another year of development with Joe is showing. While not the same style of receiver as Boldin, Smith is showing some ability to make tough catches.

The Bad:

Linebacker and Safety play: They could not cover anyone, and when they did there were missed tackles. I remember thinking on one of Julius Thomas' touchdowns that Reed or Pollard would have lit him up. Huff looked downright afraid to hit people at times. Smith and Bynes were constantly trailing behind Hillman and Moreno coming out of the backfield.

Special Teams: Tucker and Koch aside, our coverage units are terrible. Something needs to be done about that.

The Ugly:

Tight Ends: Clark and Dickson had a rough night with numerous key drops. The loss of Pitta for most of the year is going to burn brightly in our minds as fans, but I'll give these guys one more week to clean it up.

Jacoby Jones: Jones was actually doing decently as the No.2 receiver before he went down. While Marlon is playing well, he doesn't have the speed(or maybe just the reputation) that Jones does as a burner and this allowed Denver to move up to tighter and more physical man coverage which, Torrey(who had a couple of nice grabs) can still struggle with. Not only that, but as Cris Collinsworth alluded to many times on the broadcast, the physical loss of another wide-out seriously hampered our ability to run the no-huddle offense.

Joe Flacco: Certainly numerous drops hampered his effort, but the terrible pick in the 4th quarter was all Joe. Despite this, a 300+ yard effort with 2 TDs, and ,perhaps, more importantly he spread the ball around to different guys. I can't say Joe needs that security blanket guy (because those throws to Dickson were on point) but I think his faith in his receivers is shaken.

Coaching Miscues: What happened on that 3rd down Welker drop?

I agree...the Miller issue was a big break for you as well as Denver's center going down..  It will all boil down to how you guys control Manning.  Its just that he has sooo many weapons and arguably one of the best QB's to play the game.  He handles the Blitz probably the best and can read defenses as good as anyone.  One major issue will be if his OL can protect him as well as get the running game going against your defense...which is very good.  On the other side of the ball, Flacco better be better than his mediocre QB rating during last regular season.  If miller was playing I would agree with the point spread but if Flacco  is sharp and does not rely on his patented lob ball throws down the right side of the field or jump balls over the middle you can win this game if you win the take away game.  I for one , cannot wait for the season to start.

Well, while I gave your defense more credit above and truly believe that this was an anomaly and truly fixable, your secondary was suspect last year also....... but I think the fact that Flacco did Not play well at all also was a major cause of your defensive woes.  ANY defense that spends all night on the field, especially in Denver will get gassed. .   Have no idea what his QB rating was but I do know it mimicked last season. Remember his mediocre QB rating even with Bouldon and Pita.   Add in the 2 picks and we all saw the Flacco we know.  His receivers did not help as everyone saw, but the fact that all last year he through lob passes down the right side of the field and through jump balls over the middle to Pita .... this was all that the Denver Broncos had to defend.  I will end with this...you will not face too many Peyton Mannings this season but you WILL face as good or better defenses...... remember Denver was without their best defensive player.   Flacco cannot repeat last year's performance during the season .  Even though everyone is pointing to your defense last night, I would be very worried about your offense and Flacco.  Interceptions, 3 and outs, and lob throws ( he threw many overthrown lobs) and jump balls will not make it in the NFL for long.  BTW, the Steelers have a lot to worry about also, especially our OL and running game as well as our secondary....I am and will be as critical about us also.

my wife and I are headed to Vegas for a week on Sunday so i'm off today and I just jumped on Madden 25 and picked our Ravens as I always do and some cat picked the Broncos.  well!  I blew him out 35-10 and he quit in the 4th qrtr after I got a pick 6 with Webb that would have made the game 42-10.  I feel a whole lot better now!  I even sent him a message saying; "thanks for picking the broncos!  I needed to blast you to get that debacle from last off of my chest!"

No idea. JJ went from being the best closer in baseball to a liability in the span of a season.

I feel bad for Davis. He had a monster year and it all went to waste.

Hmmm........ seems like they may be picking their head up and taking the bit. With a little help we still may see some PO games!
