Preseason 3 - Baltimore Ravens vs. Carolina Panthers

2,256 posts in this topic

Not going to panic yet.  The Patriots had 4 turnovers in their 1st 5 possessions.  BAL needs to improve in kick return defending, though.  We've seen TD returns like the one tonight before-in playoff games.  CAR hasn't had a (regular season) return TD since '05.

How is Jimmy being "Jimmy" when it was one play? I feel like your reasoning here is laughable. Give me another instance of him making a mistake.

One out of two plays I saw he was involved in. One was an overthrow, the other he got beat. It's not just one play or one game, it's been the same thing since he was drafted. Exact same mistakes. You can pull up any game thread and will see the same comments.

He's inconsistent.

The weakness in your argument - Jah Reid.

Re: Punt coverage, I'd say isolated. Someone mentioned the Denver game of 2 return TDs but the week earlier they surrendered 0 return yards in 60 mins of regulation. I'd call it an isolated incident.

Jah was the worst but KO was not himself and Gino for beat a few times.

I agree on the coverage teams.

Withhout a doubt. They've spent a lot of high draft picks in that area and it shows. Wish we could be drafting top 10 every year.

you've confused the panthers with another team. they've had 2 top 10 picks in the last 10 years (2011, 2012) and only one of those was a defensive player (keuchly)

Yes, and you lied to me. I walked in the door at exactly 8:09 and it was third down.

i just wanted you to skip the Panthers' first drive and just start the game with Joe's TD one lol

I guess the fact that Flacco was clicking well with Stokely and Brown went completely unnoticed by you.  He was 18-24, and I don't remember Torrey catching a single one of them.  Let it go, man.  We're way past it.

We'll just see about that

ill be honest, i was hoping for more of an impact from elam. he doesnt seem to be near the ball much. i know hes no ed reed but he really was non existant today.

Elam is not Ed Reed. Anyone notice the Head Butt for 15 yards? At least Pollards hits were genuine

pollard ...i cant dislike him..when he hit someone, boy....i think we were a bit harsh releasing him. hes a good player. would have only given ys more depth..quality depth too.

He wasn't in the game for only two snaps. I didn't count his snaps but he had more than two or even four. I agree he's inconsistent in terms of games. This game Jimmy Smith wasn't inconsistent so I fail to see the basis of your argument. It's irrelevant in the context of this particular game.

Whats up Bro? Are you talking about the pick six?

Lol, yeah. I thought it was funny because you were talking about putting Tyrod in and then he throws a 6.

I only critiqued him on a play, which you jumped on. Jimmy Smith has not improved or performed the way a 1st-round pick should. He's inconsistent.

That was an uninformed comment on my part.  But it was moreso a statement towards us and the lack of chances we've had at the top elite talent.  In the last five years we have only drafted (albeit some tradebacks) in the first round three times, all late in the draft (32, 27, & 23).  In that same span you guys drafted #1, 9, 14 also with some tradebacks.

We wish we could see the likes of a Luke Kuechly or Star Lotulelei.  Luke is a game changer.  You plug him in the middle of your defense and it instantly gets better.  You guys even had the #1 overall pick one year.  So yes, it still must be nice to see the level of talent on the board when you're team is drafting from a Ravens' fan's eyes.

Don't worry tomorrow we'll trade him for Felix Jones.

Consider I live in Arkansas..

I'd say YESSSSS to that trade..

Dude was deadly in college ha

Holy Crap.  I can see the future!   Felix Jones just got traded today (but not to the Ravens, the Steelers).

Positives: defense looked great, only 3 points on them - off of a turnover, nonetheless. Pass-rush looks nice, run defense is especially good. Selected receivers flashed and made plays.

Negatives: Do I even have to say it? Receivers running wrong routes, dropping passes, making mental mistakes. Interior line struggling mightily. Flacco either forcing things or playing sloppy on the last INT. Jimmy being Jimmy. Punt coverage breakdown, maybe just an isolated incident.

It's not "a" play at least not by how I read your comment. Your comment implied to me that you feel like Jimmy has an overall bad game or inconsistent game. That's simply not true. He didn't play poorly. Granted, his target wasn't targeted much but Jimmy had good coverage on them for the most part. I feel like your comment is judging him too heavily on those two plays and I feel like you're ignoring or perhaps didn't see the rest of his performance. I could beer mistaken. I won't pretend to have some greet understanding of your mind. I'm simply telling you how I interpreted your comment.

I did not go through this thread to see if it already came up, but I'll say it anyway.  Didn't we all hear the soundbite at the end of the Superbowl when Joe Flacco said he would run out off the sideline and tackle Ted Ginn if he got loose.  Well...where were you tonight, Joe?  C'mon!

Seriously, could you imagine how many times we would see that highlight if he ever did that?

Oh my heavens. It'd be right there with the endless highlights of the Stanford Marching band coming on to the field, it'd supplant the Immaculate Reception, it'd supplant everything.

Nevermind the fact that Skip Bayless would talk about it 3x's as much as he does Joe Flacco's 2 worst QBRs ever

I saw [profanity deleted] in 2 of his messages earlier. I tried to quote the one, but I got the "you don't have permission to perform this action" message

Oh okay lol
