All the Raiders' economic woes seem to be pointing to them moving to the 2nd biggest city in the country.  Mark Davis' lease of the Oakland Coliseum expires next season and he has expressed his desire not to extend it.  The struggling city of Oakland would have to shell out $300,000,000 to help finance a proposed $800,000,000 new stadium.  It would make a lot more fiscal sense for Davis to take his blueprints to Los Angeles, with a $700,000,000,000 GDP and an eager potential fan base.  Davis could charge a fortune on rows upon rows of suites and lower level seats catering to celebrities and tycoons, as well as a new TV deal.

Do you think Mark Davis should move the Raiders back to LA, as his father Al did back in the '80?

Move to LA for what? So they can move again in a few years? They had to move out of LA because they stunk and people stopped going. What's changed since then?

He may end up having to extend the lease even though he doesn't want to.

I have no factual evidence, but LA seems a lot like Miami. There isn't a real football fan base there. College kids like to go to their UCLA and USC games. And celebrities like to be seen at the Lakers games.

Professional football though...just doesn't seem  they are into it like that

Television deals for individual teams don't exist, except maybe in preseason, so that isn't a factor.  All TV money is split evenly throughout the league.  It's the only major sport that does that, so it's easy to miss.

Do you think they should move to Tinseltown?

the only team that LA should and want to get back is the Rams

That seems far less likely, especially if they become relevant again with Bradford and reinvigorate their fan base.

I don't care but there fans are pretty passionate of the them.

They probably wouldn't lose that many fans if they left.  Who else is Oakland going to root for, the 49ers?

Not that much of a stretch. A team skips town on you twice - why wouldn't you cheer for the cross-town rival?

Because they're the cross-town rival? :p  The only way OAK could realistically stay in the Bay for the long term would be if Davis made a deal with the Yorks to share the 49ers' new stadium in Santa Clara.  Unfortunately, the Yorks are almost done building it and already have sponsors for it without OAK's support, so that ship may have sailed.

Bradford making the Rams relevant again? Isn't that a little bit much to ask of him?

I still think the Chargers are more likely to move to LA, but maybe LA doesn't want some of these teams.  I believe they blocked the Colts moving there in the past because of Irsay's alcoholism and poor behavior.

There are multiple teams that should move, but the Rams aren't one of them.  I think we'll eventually have a third team in Texas, probably in San Antonio.  Sending one to Canada wouldn't be a bad idea.  The Raiders, Chargers, Jaguars, and maybe even the Bills all need to find new homes.  Although the rumor is that Tampa Bay really wants to move to London.

They were a very decent team with him last year.  They've improved their receiving corps and defense in the offseason.  They have a pair of exciting young RBs and a deadly K.  Bradford can easily take them to a WC this year and maybe a division pennant a couple seasons down the line, if things in STL hold up.

Erm, they share a conference with SF, the Seahawks and Arizona. I don't see them making it to the playoffs.

I think SD  is a little less financially desperate than OAK.

I think a team based in Toronto could thrive.  I'd like to hear from Dubs as to whether the Argonauts' stadium is NFL-worthy or whether it could realistically be renovated.  BUF would naturally make the most sense, as it's less than 2 hours away. The only other roadblock I see could be Canadian customs.  They must be prepared to easily accomodate tens or even hundreds of thousands of American NFL fans who would be interested in making the trip to the T-Dot.  No one's going to jump through hoops to see BUF play.

Shahid Khan looks like he's dedicated to Jacksonville, for now.

They were a tie and a win away from winning the loaded NFC West last year.  Palmer isn't going to be around for too much longer.  SF's taken some steps back in the offseason.  SEA is still a very young team.  I could easily see STL win the division in a couple seasons.  For now, they should remain competitive in the hunt for the WCs.

Bills aren't moving anywhere. Jim Kelly wouldent allow that and the fans would be pissed. Bills are evident here no matter how much they lose.

Yeah. Bills fans are loyal despite all their suffering.

Wouldn't be surprised if Mr. International Love, aka Roger Goodell, convinced Kelly to change his mind.

While I live in LA and would love to have an NFL team here, Oakland can keep that mess up North lol If they moved down here the "fans" that like to swagger around in Raiders gear even though they know nothing about football would become unbearable >_<

I would much rather see the Oakland Raiders stay in the East Bay, and, to me, the best way that could happen is if the Davis family were to decide to go the non-profit, joint stock route, along the lines of the Packers.  I believe the league would approve of such a plan, and with that approved, the money for a new stadium could be raised through sale of joint stock.

I don't think they could sell enough shares to finance a new stadium, even if Davis wasn't so opposed to ceding any nugget of control.

So it looks like the Silver and Black could move?  I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised if it should happen.
