QB Joe Flacco

Elam, Brown, Williams, Simon...

I think we just did that.

Agree with the rest, though.

Should of been clearer,Love how we built the D through the draft this year, just wish we would of left the offense alone, especially after how the Offense looked in the Post season!! Matt RYAN has been given serious weapons to play with,Flacco on the other hand has Torrey and an injured Pitta, after that he does not have any elite talent to throw too!!

I like Mellette as well. Furstenburg is more athletic than Pitta, but I doubt he has that pass catching ability.

I think in future drafts the FO should concentrate on building up a solid Oline rather than trying to find star receivers. We are not nearly as good at picking WR as we are at picking Linemen. Give Joe enough time in the pocket and I don't think the quality of the receivers will be that much of an issue.

Furstenburg's hands have actually looked excellent in the preseason games. He plucks the ball out of the air with no problem!!

Flacco has been Flat out bad in his first two preseason games.  I don't care who is not on the field.  He couldn't even move the ball against the Falcon 2's.  For those of you that are not concerned take the purple shades off and watch the game.  If you need receivers to make you better understand that and play for less, so they get paid also.

Joe forced throws into tight windows quite a few times. I agree with that. I feel like Joe is testing the receivers to see to win he can throw the ball like he did Anquan.

It's the only thing that makes sense to me. I feel like he's definitely forcing guys the ball, specifically Jacoby Jones and Visanthe.

Why didn't we get rid of Jacoby and keep Boldin, if we knew we had Deonte and Rainey that could take over the kick return duties?

I've asked the same question but Jacoby is significantly better than both at returning the ball to be honest. David Reed, I feel, is on par but he's frequently injured.

I would much rather suffer in the field position on kick returns than to struggle on third and manageable.

Flacco has looked bad on third and short in the preseason.  We are dangerously close to not being able to compete with the upper echelon teams.

To be fair we're missing Marshal Yanda and we have a new center. I think we'll be fine when those guys return. Keep in mind we haven't really featured Clark yet either and we're missing Dickson.

Bad field position can ruin your chances of winning as well. It's not easy to dig out of a hole or defend midfield

Those two are the one of the only reasons I'm staying optimistic about our passing game.Them and the fact that we might actually let Mellette play as a third or 4th on some plays during the season.

Im gonna give Joe every benefit of the doubt regarding his performance thus far in the preseason games.

You wanna know why?

I think because of the loss of Pitta,Boldin and Dickson,I feel there is a lot more experimentation going on in the playcalling this year then the last several years.

Can Jones become a no2?Who will be the new tight ends?Which youngster will slide into the no 3 slot?

These questions did NOT have to be answered the last few years.

As good as Mellette has looked, he hasn't been as good as Deonte was last preseason or doss the season before that, so he's been solid but he's not a revelation.  He's also not done any work from the slot, and he's not as good as Torrey or Jones on the outside of the hash marks.  So I doubt he see's any meaningful time.  But long term he really intrigues me.

I've done it now, ruh roh.

But guys, tell me. Flacco has one of the best INT rates in the league, but he's been throwing a LOT of picks in practice, and already has two this preseason (though one was more on Jacoby than him). Should we be concerned about this? Has he always thrown a lot of picks during camp? Serious question, I honestly don't know.

Flacco has always played like crap in the preseason.  ALWAYS.

The one thing I have noticed over the last 5 years is the same story - everyone is all concerned about the "way Joe looks" during camp/preseason games/whatever, then he comes out and blows the competition away in game 1.  The problem has seemed to be that second game - 2010 led a tough win against the Jets, then played what still to me is the worst game of his career in Cincy.  2011 obliterates the Steelers, falters against Tennessee.  2012 silences the Bengals, felled by the Eagles.  Nothing you see in the preseason will tell you what he'll be in the regular season, yet I'm going to keep pointing out that he hasn't even thrown 20 passes in the preseason, and he's completed over 70 percent of them - he is 14/18, so any throws people have to be concerned about are 4 throws out of 18 made (which is why I find it kind of ridiculous in the first place).

Lol no concern.. Let him get them out of the way NOW so that he knows what not to do during the season. That's what the preseason is for, especially for starters/vets, to see what what works and what doesn't work.

I don't think Joe has looked great this preseason, but there are a lot of factors at play. The offense has been very vanilla by design. I think Joe has attempted about 2 passes in total that traveled 10 or more yards. Right now they are just trying to work out kinks and get timing down. Don't expect the offense to be all check downs once the regular season starts.

That's true. It's been check down city for this offense so far.

From the tweets I'm seeing, sounds like Joe is lighting it up today.

Yes, I don't recall seeing any reports about Joe throwing INTs. I guess, we can go back to worrying about the secondary not making any plays. What's wrong with Webb? :)

I think we are trying to get more short passes thrown to receivers this season. The Ravens already know, that Joe can throw it deep.

It hasnt even been short passes though, it's been a lot of screens and check downs. I'm all for higher percentage passes, but so far this pre-season it has been taken to the extreme. Joe will still throw the ball deep a lot this year, but probably not as much as he did under Cam.

Let's be honest here, the Oline sans Yanda didn't exactly leave Joe a lot of time to throw. I really think, that this is one of those instances where we read to much into what we see. Can't wait till Thursday.

Honestly, I'm not expecting to see much Thursday either but maybe I'm wrong. I just don't think they want to show anything. Let the world think the Ravens can't move the ball.

I have mixed feelings about him ATM. The interceptions he threw in the two preseason games with only one TD, and in training camp, but he has a 114 QBR right now and along with Cameron gone and how well Brees did after Cameron left SD.

It's  preseason, so why throw it away. Joe may be just fishing, see who will fight for the ball. The routes may not be 100 % at this point in time.
