Cuts: Early wave of release predictions

i can see shipley sticking around if he plays guard too, harb likes hybrid players, so if he plays C/G i c him sticking around.

There is no way Shipley gets cut.

My issue with Adrian Hamilton is I'm just not sure where he fits on this team. We're really stacked at OLB and unless we move McPhee back to DL, I'm just not sure how we can keep Suggs, Dumervil, Upshaw, Simon, McPhee & Hamilton. That's five OLBs and I really don't see us carrying that many.

McPhee's been shaky at OLB this pre-season, so we might do some shifting there, but I'm pretty sure we won't let Hamilton go - he's definitely opened eyes now with his 2nd good pre-season

Yeah, I haven't really been impressed by McPhee at OLB. I think we need to stop playing Freddy Kruger with our draft picks and leave McPhee at DE/DT. But, what do I know. I just think interior tackles who can rush are a real rarity in the league and I would rather keep him at that position even if he's a situational player. I haven't been impressed yet by his coverage or his ability to set the edge.

Yeah I would've left McPhee on the line as well.  I know they're trying to use him as a pass rusher only type of deal, but think that ability plays better on the line for him.  We have guys like Simon and Hamilton that can be used as a primary pass rusher at LB.

As for Adrian Hamilton, he's not too good at setting the edge. I suppose we could keep him around as a 6th OLB on the team behind all those other guys I mentioned, but the guy is primarily a pass rush specialist. I just can't see how we can keep him and I don't think it's fair for him either. I don't think he would want to be stashed on the IR. I think a player has to also agree to the "IR stashing" that the Ravens do, and I just can't see us having space for him unless we move McPhee back to DE.

Nice job there. I would slightly disagree on few players.
A.Q. Shipley is decent backup center, worth keeping
A. Allen is very good blocker on special team and also used as RB in short goal line situations, worth keeping
D. Reed has value on special team and as backup slot receiver, question mark

I agree on Shipley, but reed is fragile & even if he makes the cut he will get injured on the 1st tackle of the game, Allen only has special teams value other than that he's useless on offense, Heck that td he scored wasnt impressive because he fumbled on that play.

I agree on Reed,he is fragile and we have our share of that in the WR corps, that being said I disagree with you on Anthony Allen. I don't think he is useless on offense just that he won't do anything better than what the line gives him. I think he will be a solid guy who could play his entire career here if he wanted. He is a fine goal line back and we need a power runner(durable as well) behind Rice and Pierce who can take care of garbage carries.

Allen needs to be kept. He has a limited skill set but he is fantastic at what he is good at. There is no one else on the roster that will excell at what he excells at. There are many other underachievers who will go before him.

Special teams are important. Without Allen as the lead blocker, Jacoby wouldn't have returned those kickoffs for TDs. Allen is a great special teamer.
