Who will lead the team in sacks in 2013?

25 posts in this topic

I am really liking our defense this year. Who do you think will have the most sacks this season?

I think it will be...

Terrell Suggs.

I feel like he's come back to be the player he was in 2011 (or better) now that's he isn't injured. I feel like he will have a big year. I'm predicting 16.5 sacks for him. Defensive Player of the Year? Maybe. Behind him I think it will be Elvis Dumervil.

Dumervil. He will be in on mostly pass plays, giving him fresh feet to get to the QB against offenses that will be more worried about Suggs and Ngata's side.

Word. But it may have just as much to do with what side Webby is lined up on since the QB might get used to pulling it down or hesitating every time he looks in his direction

i'm going with some out of the box thinking and say Canty... if Ngata gets double-teamed playing at NT, then Canty's got some gaps to go through... ohh yeah this D's gonna do some damage

Our defense is supposedy so screwed I'm not even sure we'll get a sack all year

I forgot out season is over. Thanks for reminding me.
Lets trade Ray Rice straight up for Bowman. That will make our team better

I'm going to say a tie between the two pass rush specialists Doom and Mcphee. They will both be pretty fresh and focused on bringing down the QB without having to worry about much else. I also think they will be the most healthy guys throughout the season upfront in the trenches.

I'm gonna pick T Sizzle. Definitely wasn't 100% last year but did look better and better each game into the post-season. Now that he's had time to heal up both physically and mentally (people forget how mentally straining Sizzle's ACL rehab was for him given the timing and circumstances). Also lost 10 lbs this offseason, had a great burst in his first preseason action of the year.. feel real good about Suggs this year.

Sacks Prediction:

Sizzle: 15 (new career high)

Doom: 11.5

I'm going Sizzle. I love everything about the offseason he's had and The improved pass rushers next to him should really help him.

Fully heathy Suggs = best all around OLB/DE in football.

Our defense this year...very scary. Very, very, very scary. There isn't a single position where I don't like a player. The pass rush with Ngata at nose tackle is just going to really destroy opposing offenses. Last year's defense must have been embarrassing for everyone involved. Because it has really shaped up over the off-season. I'm mostly excited about Canty. He showed me in the pre-season game that he's back from that injury. He looks really good in our offense.

We have cornerbacks who can blitz rather well, and safeties too like Elam. Daryl looks good rushing the passer. Everyone does really. Even Marcus Spears and Arthur Jones Jr. It's insane. McPhee coming in. Suggs and Upshaw are some of the best run stoppers, they're really level headed about setting the edge and not getting beat on the run, but when they know it's pass they can still rush the passer well. Suggs, clearly, is one of the league's best as pass rushing too.

But the guy who is going to benefit from all of this, consistently, will likely be Dumervil. He's the pass rushing specialist. He might break the sack record this year.

I think Dumervil will lead the team, but I think the team will lead the NFL.  Barring injuries, this looks like a dominant front seven.  Canty, Ngata, Jones, Dumervil, Suggs, and McPhee are all guys that we know can put pressure on the QB.  I think our ILBs will have some success too, especially playing behind that front.

Its going to be awesome watching our defense. We have some many players that deserve double teams I can't wait to see the D in a real game.

Elvis and T-SIZZLE are gonna go at it with the sacks, do think its possible the both of them could have about 10. Cant really double team both of em, I will say think SIZZLE will prob lead team, hard to stop when hes healthy.  Would of lead team last year, wasnt for injury

I agree completely with ya, if an olb gets doubled or chip blocked, I have to assume it will be suggs so doom will have the best chance to rack up the sacks. Although I still think suggs will get his fair share. If our team ain't in the top 3 for sacks, I will be disappointed
