That Team You Love To Hate:

 

 People hate extremely successful sports teams. What else is new? Early 00's Lakers and Pats each brought home 3 titles in a span of 5 years and were subsequently the most hated sports teams of the 21st century outside of the Yankees. The Ravens have yet to reach that pinnacle of greatness but with at least one playoff win in every season since Harbs/Joe have been here and now a Lombardi trophy + an already 1st class organization the ground work is certainly in place and people are taking notice.. the thought of us staying on this path scares a lot of people because they don't want to see another team reach that level of success and the glory that goes along with it.. The quickest way to get us off this path would be for us to miss the playoffs this year and thus it's been keyed in on by those wanting to see us fail the most, the haters.

 

Haters gonna Hate:

 

If you've been on a sports forum since the offseason started you've seen at least one person say "The Ravens won't make the playoffs this year". On most accounts the posters actual feelings would be more accurately described if their sentence started with "I hope". These are the same people that right now will talk your ear off about how good teams like the colts and seahawks will be one day and then turn around and bash them and root on them to fail if they ever become one of the powerhouse type teams that they originally wanted them to take out.

 

Hater 101:

 

These are your run of the mill haters and we've always been programmed to think that the only way to get rid of haters is to prove them wrong. However this isn't the case at all. Only way to get rid of haters unfortunately is to fail, success will only intensify their hate and that's just something you have to accept. Anyone willing to give credit/respect to a player/team that proved them wrong was never a hater in the first place, just a person with an opinion. Haters will never give credit/respect even if you win the SB for the next 50 yrs, it's how they operate..because it's not about whether they were right or wrong, it's just about getting the outcome that they wanted. It's why they criticized Joe for saying he was Elite and then turned around and still criticized him even after he went on to win SB MVP in the same season. It's not that Joe's history making performance didn't impress them deep down, it's just that it wasn't the outcome that they wanted.

 

Embrace the Hate!

 

You might be saying "That's a completely illogical thought process" and you're right. That's why when you identify one these people you just have to smile and nod. Do not and I repeat DO NOT try to argue logic with one of these people. They don't operate in a plane of logical thought and your going to achieve nothing more then a headache. I hope this will help some people embrace the haters and not be detracted by them, they are a sign of blooming success. It's when people stop going out of their way to tell us we are going to fail that we should be worried.

I actually enjoy the haters.  Its great when we prove haters wrong.  When a team is hated it usually means your good or have had recent success (minus the cowgirls).  Its not a bad thing for people to hate you.  Just embrace it like you say.

This is actually true logic. When The Steelers used to get lots of wins, bring home titles and constantly defeat us, I found myself with an undeniable, ravenous hatred swelling in the pit of my stomach every time I saw yellow and black. These days, the Ravens are on top of the world and it looks like even Bengals will surpass them. While I dislike them and their fans, I don't feel that same hateful fire I once did towards them. I do however love to shove it in Steelers fans faces when Ravens defeat them, so the rivalry is still there.

It's awesome to prove the haters wrong. Every year somebody would say "Ravens suck" usually some Steelers weirdo. But i don't talk smack untill we win the Superbowl. Which I did. It's satisfying.

This thread is about none of those things lol, personally would've kept it in Ravens talk.. pretty relevant to a lot of the things being said about the Ravens right now.

It is quite a trend that former players that seem to have had success and likely understand the game better appreciate our team more.

 

The one Hater I can't laugh at is Evans, Heath. He literally spouts nothing but unfounded, baseless, stupid opinions. He genuinely has no business what-so-ever covering anything. I realize he took countless blows to the head, but even that is no excuse for the nonsensical crap he spews.
