Preseason 2 - Baltimore Ravens vs. Atlanta Falcons

1,599 posts in this topic

Biggest position of concern for me is center. Just watched what nflnet showed on wraparound so far but he is struggling. Gino was the least impressive lineman last week so hopefully he can perform and put those concerns to bed next week.

Clark will be the starting te over shiancoe sans Dickson. He may hold that job and we may use quite a bit of two te with those 2.

Haven't seen the entire half yet but were any wrs outside of Torrey freaking smith and jj targeted?

Pass rush was looking wicked. Not happy letting up so many yards on the ground over 2 games though. That needs to go.

The 1st team defense looked fine outside of Jimmy Smith. If he starts, he'll be the weak-link all season because he'll be picked on by every QB. They got a lot of pressure on Matt Ryan though which is a good sign...need to tighten up the Run D though.

Offense has looked dreadful. Shiancoe dropped two balls...even though one wasn't the most accurate from Flacco. As others have stated...the Center Shipley hasn't helped either with 3 penalties by himself. Then the INT! Flacco clearly forced that ball to Jacoby...there were like 3 defenders around him. The Boldin trade is not looking too smart now, especially given the injuries to Pitta and Dickson.

I just get tired of everyone worrying about the preseason. Evaluate individuals , but the offense or defense as a hole aren't trying to beat the other team as much as they're trying to get better as a team.

Last years preseason 2 game:

Flacco 7/12 79yrds

Rice  5 ATT for 12yrds

If anything, we actually improved this year. :)

I just don't understand how we're evaluating any of our other receivers with what we've done with our 1st O in these first 2 pre-season games.

I agree with that but i never sad the sky is falling.  All im saying is call plays that allow the receivers to show what they can do.  If im not mistaken the only receiver who has caught a pass is torrey and thats an issue.

Not tipping our hand.  A lot of the things we worked on in the offseason with the short passing game, we haven't shown yet this preseason.  Next week is supposed to be the dress rehearsal game anyway.

Jimmy's having a rough game no doubt about it. I won't excuse his performance if you want to call it that. He looks really sloppy, but I'm not going to throw him under the bus yet. People said Joe Flacco was inconsistent and it's not his fault the DL is suffering against the run.

Were struggling against Steven Jackson who's up there in age. Imagine our D Line against the young bull Trent Richardson

Jacoby should only run vertical routes and double moves lol.. Leave the over the middle routes to Torrey, Clark and Stokley. Starting to have a real problem brewing here at wr, especially when we get into post-season play and you have to really execute in the passing game. Boldin, Torrey and Pitta got us through the playoff last year in that department, Clark should fill in well for Pitta but I'm sorry no one has filled Boldin's role and that's the truth. Torrey will be even better this year but without another wr who has to be respected Torrey will just get doubled teamed and strongly focused on. It also hurts Jacoby because the defense had to focus on Torrey AND Boldin so he could get losse deep when the weren't focusing on him. Don't see Jacoby as that 2nd threat, he's the 3rd guy that benefits from the first two wr's.

Didn't we give up a draft pick for that guy?

A conditional 7th if he makes the team.

Good thing we are playing bad, because now we can address all these issues. We can worry about them in the preseason but we will see what people will be saying come week 17...
