Ravens sign TE Dallas Clark

You think we'll have five offensive starters? Or do you mean just five offensive players in rotation?

Mckinnie
Leach
Clark

Will all start.
Stokley and VS will rotate in

We don't know who'll start at TE right now, maybe Clark can beat out Shaincoe and Dickson but let's see him in action first before proclaiming him the guy.

So is Dickson's injury more serious? Is it just more competition for camp, because I wanted to see what Furstenberg could bring to the table with more action.

Could be. I read that dickson could be back in a week or could take several weeks. There are not guaranteed timetables with hamstrings.

I think we start two TEs lol

Two TEs and Leach? That leaves only Torrey starting at receiver. I doubt that's the kind of offense we'll be running.

I think and sorry if someone has already said this, is that the FO has doubts if Dickson can stay healty for an entire season. The experience and mental side that Stokely and Clark have to go over the middle, where you know you are going to be hit hard, is always a plus.

I hope he's back. I like Clark and Shiancoe, but I'd rather not count on them to be our number one.

I guess VS is our blocking TE and Clark is our pass-catching TE.

Just needed insurance if Ed DIckson doesn't deliver.

Also, I assume these signings mean Ozzie is not too comfortable with the young players on offense.

Lee Evans' trading showed a lot about Ozzie when things are going a little slow in training camp.

Leach won't play every snap.

At this point idk. Lol. Caldwell knows what he's doing tho

Right, so either Leach or Clark. Two 30-somethings.

It's better to sign them now and give them the month or so to learn the team and the offense than sign them late.  There are a lot of filler bodies in camp, bringing these guys in isn't hurting the team in that aspect at least.

thats cool and i can understand that the ravens want to add more competition and etc now but i figure if the coaches really were interested in giving the young guys a chance then i would had waited atleast until the second preseason game to sign dallas and brandon; it wouldnt had hurt to do so  epecially since these guys have been in this offense system before when they were colts

I like this better than the Stokely signing. Clark is an experienced pass catcher who knows Caldwell well. What's not to like.

As far as Stokley has been on this team before.   Dallas Clark is an asset to any team.  I still remember him beating us up in the season and playoffs now he is allying with us...

So much for the Shiancoe-Clark debate we were having earlier.  Why choose when you can have both?!

I guess my idea of Juice playing a little Tight End may not happen.

I didn't realize how many catches Clark had last season. Maybe he can function as a possession TE if he shows he has anything left in the tank.

Wonder what happens with VS and MF. Maybe practice squad for Matt?

I'm not worried about possibly cutting him out of future. Joe is in his prime years and we need to do the best we can, given our current situation, giving him weapons.

A reliable veteran receiver who is familiar with our OC, great track record of stats/winning is huge for our offense. I LOVE this move. He's really going to help replace Pitta, also I bet he's hungry to be playing on a winner again.

This right here will be looked back on as a classic Ozzie move IMO. I just keep thinking about Joe connecting to him on 3rd downs, I was truly worried about who the go to guy would be.

Maybe I'm just a overly excited homer, but I'm really liking this signing.

Welcome to BMORE, Dallas!

Both Stokley and Clark are guys likely to gain Flacco's trust quickly.

They're both smart veteran signings that aren't overly surprising. We lost Dickson for a while to his hammy injury, while Thompson picked up an ankle ailment.

Just replacing injured guys with wily, ol' veterans.

To agree with many others, I think this sets up a competition between Clark and VS. Whoever shows the most reliability in Preseason gets to stay on the team as the main slot reciever/recieving TE. The other stays on the team until Dickson returns, and then they'll be cut.
