Ravens sign WR Brandon Stokley

355 posts in this topic

boldin and pitta are not like stokely though..stokely is a little guy who runs routes like wes welker. Pitta is 6,4 and Boldin is a bruiser who wins 50 50 battles and has great hands.

Randall Cobb is 5'10 ish

Percy Harvin is 5'10

Wes Welker is 5'8

Those are the three best slot wrs in the game.

I'm waiting.

Stokley put up 500+ yards and 5 TDs....

He's smaller, but that doesn't mean he can't get get open. He's actually probably better at getting open than Pitta or Boldin were. I'm not sure what you are trying to argue here.

He had Peyton manning as QB. I love joe. But manning he is not. Also cmon..if we had Cobb Harvin or even welker i don't think we would be complaining. Stokely is not in their league. He's also friggen 37 years old.. If he were  a bit younger then id be pretty happy but no. Players eventually just look and play old and stokes is a viable candidate.

theres also that quality gap...which you conveniently ignore.

Dickson and Shainco are not bad TE's. They're not superstars, but not BAD TEs like you make them out to be. It is still a good two TE sets.

Dickson has a VERY high ceiling. He can outrun LBs like crazy, and if he returns to 2011 form, LOOK OUT.

Shainco is a red zone machine. He's a good possession TE.

Torrey, #1 WR, even if he is not a "superstar".

Well, he beat Manning in the playoffs, who is a choker in there, and Flacco just won the SB MVP.

The same Flacco who has just as many rings and playoffs wins as Manning does, and he has been in the league for 11 years less.

Keep it coming. Flacco just won the big game, and we won it because of him. No one else.  Boldin was a big help, but he did not "bail out Flacco".

That's true. He's still faster than Q(lol) and is a better route runner than Pitta.

He's got good enough hands

Shianco is below average at this point in his career. Dickson is potentially a good TE. He will never be pro bowl quality but yes he could be good.

in a rating out of 20 per position. Megatron say being 20 I'm saying

Torrey Smith : 16

Ed Dickson : 13

Shianco : 11

Stokely: 12

Jacoby Jones: 13

Tandon Doss: 9

Deonte: 11

Pitta: 17

Boldin: 16

it appears dallas clark might join us according to arron wilson. I believe in clarke more so then shianco. Clark was one of the best tight ends in the league for many years and was always a much higher level then VS. His hands are as good if not better then pittas and his route running is second to none.

Did you miss the whole Brandon Stokely was the best slot WR in the NFL last year?  I can make up ratings too, it doesnt mean anything though.

That's why he's a TE #2. Where he's average :D

Fixed your rankings. Pitta is not an elite TE.

Boldin is not an elite WR.

Why are you so hell bent on this? They're both good and all, but not as good as you're making it out to be.

Dickson opens up a ton over the middle, and Shainco is great in the red zone.

Stokley, is a good possession WR. He's very solid in the slot, and provides a reliable target. Even if he is old.

Every team needs a few savy vets.

Jacoby is  a big play threat.

I hope this isn't the rating system that Ozzie uses lol

There's the reason he's the GM, and he's put together two SB winning teams and Sami84 hasn't.

Oooooh putting words into my mouth.

That's fun.

No, but he's actually got a very high ceiling in his own right.

Statistically he was that good.

Haha. That may be true, but I'd rather have Cobb or Welker imo.

Harvin is a headache(both figuratively and literally lol), but I'd rather have him too lol.

I'm saying your rankings are flawed, and I'm glad we have Ozzie running the team.

But Dickson's ceiling is actually really close to what Pitta's is imo. Due to his athletic ability anyway. Not there yet, but being the #1 option again will really help his cause.

dickson at best will be ''good'' solid etc..Pitta i feel will always have better hands and route running.

Dallas Clark whom we might sign was a better version of Pitta when he was younger. I hope we sign him.

Well, yeah he isnt as explosive or the big play threat that those guys are, but he is consistent and productive. He plays his role very well. FOA gave him a DVOA of 37.4% which is ridiculously good.

You can't be bad if you're still producing at 37 either lol.

Why are the same people constantly complaining that we needed better receivers now complaining when we signed one? Stokely will be exactly what we need. At the start of FA, I was hoping we would sign a guy like him, and my eyes were on Kevin Walter thinking he could maybe get more than a one year deal. For one year, Stokely is a fantastic option that will certainly prove to be a serious asset.

Because he's not a superstar.

This is why I made that thread, because people are complaining when in fact our options ARE NOT BAD lol.

Stokely is not going to hamper our young guys IMO, because quite frankly, there's no way he is going to be the number 2 receiver on this team. Doss still has the job in his reach, he just has to produce and grab it. Jacoby will be the number 3 on this team when the season starts based soley on the fact that he's an all pro kick and punt returner. Stokely will be most likely used like he was In Denver, a slot guy when the team goes into multi-wide sets.

And Manning took us apart during the regular season. One game does not make Joe a better QB, especially when every other way of measuring ability says that Manning was the better QB.

Joe played better in the game that counted.

Peyton is better in the regular season, but in the playoffs the guy is a choker.

Need I go on?

I'm not saying Joe > Peyton, I'm saying Joe is a damn good QB in his own right. That helps a lot with the team

When someone says Manning is a better QB than Flacco, and you bring up Flacco beating Manning in the playoffs, it sounds like you're saying Flacco is the better QB.

Let's not turn this into a Flacco thread.

We have enough of those lol

In Denver, he played more than half the team's snaps. That's more than just a specialty, number four-type guy. He was brought here to be given every opportunity to play significant downs for us.
