LMAO

Haha, hey, you might laugh, and I'm laughing with you... but you have to admit, I'm telling the truth on that one.

Hey I love the D. I love our potential running game. But I just don't like our receiving core. Period.

Again, I agree that it leaves a bit to be desired, but what do you propose to do about it?  You keep throwing out all of these ideas that just aren't rational, and when someone points that out, you just complain more and ignore the facts.  Please tell me what you would do.

Our receiving core was fine until Pitta's injury.  That definitely threw a wrench in things, I'm not going to deny that.  However, at that point, what improvements are there to make?  It's an unfortunate situation that we have to deal with.  There is nothing out there that would make this receiving core any better.  Do not tell me Lloyd, as it's been beaten to death why he is not a fit for this team.

Slightly off-topic, but Robert Meachem seems to be close to out in San Diego, and apparently his body is "broken down".  I really wanted him last year, which proves again how much more aware the front office is than I will ever be.

Agreed.  I really wanted Meachem too.  He couldn't excel in Turner's offense, which was basically meant for a guy like Meachem.  I'll put my trust in Ozzie.

I'm sorry, but this continues to prove to me that it was a BIG mistake trading Boldin away.   They rested their eggs in the "Tandon Doss is just as good" basket, and he's not.   And now it's gotten bad enough that they had to de-mothball Brandon Stokley?

Ugh.

Truthfully we don't know why Stokley was signed.  A lot of outlets seem to think this is more an answer to Pitta's injury than an indictment on our receivers.  Apparently we expect to run a lot of 2 TE sets this year, and with Pitta on the outs, that leaves our rookie Furstenberg and a graying Viscianthe Shiancoe to compete for the second spot.  So the theory out there that we are going to be using a lot of 3, 4, and 5 receiver sets to compensate, so we need 5 competent pass-catchers, and especially guys you can rely on for big 3rd down receptions like we did with Boldin and Pitta, both of whom are now out.  And it might actually push a guy like Doss or Thompson or Williams to show up in the regular season - remember we signed Lee Evans and made him the number 2 receiver in 2011 until he got hurt because we thought Torrey wasn't ready.  Then Torrey had to step in, and proved he was more ready than anyone could have hoped for.

Money had a lot more to do with Boldin being gone than anything.  Why does no one realize this?  If we keep Boldin, we don't have some combination of Canty, Spears, Huff, Dumervil, or Smith.

to be perfectly honest i don't think jacoby jones is indespenisble. we could have kept boldin and got rid of jones. i doubt jones will have a year like last year and was always a number 3 quality receiver.

I think we have Canty at least lol.

But our D would've needed a lot more for the draft

I think Ozzie is trying his best to avoid a hangover

Boldin's hit was 6 million.

Getting rid of Jacoby would've done nothing

That may be true, and as a WR Boldin is far superior to Jones. However, Jones was a weapon for us last year in the return game. We won games last year because of our ST play. Of course that is not just Jones, but he was a big factor in it. Personally, I don't want to use Jones as a #2 WR if that means he gets less opportunity to return because that is where his value lies.

Boldins gone, yeah I'd rather he was here but he's in San Fran now. He stepped up big time in the playoffs but during the regular season although he made decent plays at decent times from a statistical stand point he wasn't brilliant. His cap has been spent on improving us as a team and I really think we have improved this year.

With regards to Stokley, I don't think it's a terrible signing, however I'd have rather took a gamble on Lloyd. But Stokley can catch and had a serviceable year in Denver, so lets see what he can bring.

yeah but peyton is designed to make players like stokely and welker effective. The kind of passes Stokley loves isn't joe's strong point/

I know a lot of you folks scoff at PFF, but Stokley was graded as the 18th best WR overall last season for players playing at least 50% of his team's snaps. 93.8% of his snaps came out of the slot and he was the most effective slot WR in the NFL last season catching 77% of the passes thrown his way and accumulating 5TDs. He also only had 2 drops. Now there are other factors at play here as he had 2 very good WRs on the outside that probably helped open things up for him, but he is clearly still capable of getting open and contributing to this team.

boldin and pitta are not like stokely though..stokely is a little guy who runs routes like wes welker. Pitta is 6,4 and Boldin is a bruiser who wins 50 50 battles and has great hands.

Oh, so now it's that we don't have big guys?

Dickson and Shainco are both 6'4.
Torrey is 6'1

Keep the excuses coming.... You don't need big WRs to win games.
