Sorry but I hate that lineup. Smith needs to further develop into an all around receiver this year, which I think he will.

I have zero confidence in any WR to be a good #2. We'll be relying on Rice,Dickson,Shiancoe, Leach and Juice more than any other receiver not named Torrey.

I hope we can use Stokely on 3 WR's sets in the slot with Torrey & Jones on the outside. Still don't like it, but it's the best we got.

Alot of people want  to blame the  young receiver preformance for this recent signing of   Brandon Stokley but overall if none of the young wideouts step up then I  think  its fair to  blame  the widereceiver coach . I just feel like the young guys the ravens have right now at receiver are too talented to not step up .

 

I feel like the  front office and maybe the coaches panic to fast . I mean they literally  sign a veteran right after the first preseason game and thats  when Laquan, Brown, and Mellete look pretty good. I dont know what it is about the ravens coaches but it seems like they have less patience for the wide receiver postion  than any other positon on the team

torrey is a solid second option. if he can elevate his game with no real help ( like great WR do) then we can say he's truly hit the jackpot

 

i feel he;ll be a solid number 2.

Torrey is a #1.

He opened up a lot of things for Q last season. He takes the top off a defense without any difficulty.

I feel that last year we had 2 #1s.

WR isn't the strongest suit but its not as bad as many claim it is.

If that's the case, I can agree right now.  However, he did operate as the number 1 last year.  He isn't the whole package yet, I know, but he can grow into that without a problem.  It's only his 3rd year, and I'm confident that he'll be that true number 1 some time over the next couple of years.

We need quality balance. We don't have that. We didn't need a superstar last year because we had 3 very good receivers. We only have 1 very good one now. That's not enough for a great passing game.

Sami, while I don't necessarily disagree with this particular post, I just have to say that you are, by far, the most pessimistic poster on this board right now. I've yet to see a single post coming from you that even has a shade, just a hint, of good things to say about the team. Heck, to this point, I've not even seen a string of posts that contain cautiousness either... just a bunch of "we suck", or "this team needs this or that or this team will fail"...

While I agree that our receivers are very questionable this year, how does this not mean Torrey isn't a number 1?  He was clearly the number 1 last year, and just because Boldin is gone doesn't mean that Torrey relegates to a number 2.  Is he your prototypical number 1?  No, but he's our number 1... a guy that a defense keys in on, double teams, and are generally afraid to let make a play.
