I am just glad we have him! Just goes to show, when someone like Daryl Smith comes available, the first people to knock on his door will be someone only of Ozzie's intelligence!

Don't sleep on Ozzie the awesome quite yet. There are moves going to be made before the season begins which will only make our roster even more formidable....

Seems like every single offseason, Oz makes at least one underrated signing that goes on to help us immensely. Seems like this is that signing, but there are definitely several more "under the radar" signings that Oz has made that will have a huge impact on us.

Smith is definitely a quality player, and he would've been much more widely known about had he played for someone other than the Jags. Excellent coverage guy from what I've seen/read, and his run stuffing is pretty good as well. His leadership is also a very underrated trait that he's bringing with him, but will have a profound impact on our D.

It's ok. Ozzie doesn't have THAT kind of magic, but enough to bring in stud WR Denerious Moore :P ;).

Lol. You should've been here early May lol

Yeah, I should've been. I joined in late May/early June, so I know that I've missed out on a lot of things. Heck, I wasn't even able to celebrate the Super Bowl with you all on here....

Smith, on pure athleticism and quantifiable production (stats), is better than what Ray Lewis had been for us for a few seasons. I know that isn't a popular opinion, but it is true, IF Smith can stay healthy. What Lewis had was non-quantifiable... he had leadership that no one else has ever had before, and he had the type of smarts that few have ever had. But in terms of stats and ability, Smith will be an upgrade over what we witnessed from Lewis for his final seasons as a Raven.

I thought Smith was good last night. Solid fill-in. Was Brown with the first-team guys at all?

He got a little bit of action with the first team.  He really didn't play much at all.  They pulled our top 4 (Smith, Bynes, Brown, and McClellan) very early and let the guys fighting for roster spots take most of the snaps.

Ah okay.  Thanks man. Bynes looked good too.

Even our backups looked pretty good for the most part.  Hall played very well in his transition.  Carr played well too, but you can tell that he's a personal foul machine.  He's a very intense guy... too intense for my liking.  Copeland had that interception, and is probably a great piece to throw on the PS.  A position of weakness suddenly looks very good in my opinion.

Yeah I was listening to 98 Rock on my way home yesterday and they had a survey that asked what position we needed help at most and LB was one of em.  Not so in my opinion.  I liked what I saw from Copeland, but more so from Hall.  That can't be an easy transition. Not to mention he had to lose some serious weight.

Smith will be a starting, every down ILB for us this year.  Much more than a fill-in.  If McClain doesn't return (and hopefully even if he does), Brown and Bynes will battle for the second starting spot in the middle.  Smith has his spot locked down.

LOL, that would be awsome. Don't know how we could afford him though.?.?.

Hahaha... again, Ozzie would work his "magic" and get the cap to magically increase somehow, just for the Ravens only. Far-fetched?? Ha! Hardly! A wizard can do all things with the right kind of magic
