On a similar note, the "grill" facemasks have also been banned with the exception of Justin Tuck and Chris Canty who received medical clearance to continue wearing them. If anything I would think those facemasks would be safer as they prevent any stray hands from possibly injuring a player's face. No fun league indeed...

Yeah me too.  I saw that it's at the refs discretion.  If it delays the game or taunts the opponent, that's when it gets called apparently.  I think it's a horrible idea to make something like that opinion-based.
