Safety Competition

So anyone know what is the deal with Anthony Levine? Not trying to hate on the kid or the staff's decision but I don't recall hearing his name once this preseason or in any of the training camp updates on the site. I understand why we kept 5 safeties because we only have 4 active CBs once Asa's suspension takes effect and Huff can play corner if necessary, so the 5 safeties isn't a question. But Trawick was blocking punts and went into tackling-beast mode against the Rams and we all know what Omar Brown has been doing the last two preseasons, what was Levine doing? Just curious about the guy because I think most will agree that they didn't forsee him making the final roster.

 

Levine has been a great gunner and general ST player.  That's where Omar Brown lost out.  He had a few nice plays, but was overall inconsistent.  Both Trawick and Levine were consistently good on ST.

Well all I can say is I hope Levine will be continuing that play Thursday. Ted Ginn busting a punt off two weeks ago doesn't give me the greatest of confidence with Trindon Holliday looming Thursday after what he pulled last year. I know a lot of those s/t guys are gone from that game (Ayanbadejo, Allen, Considine, etc) but still...
