Injury Thread

Are you seriously asking that? 100s of 1000s of people every year slip in the bathtub or are close to slipping in the bathtub.

Very few are fumbling off their teammate's rear end. Surprised we haven't heard jokes about what kind of fart Brandon Moore let rip to cause that

You know what's sad, Brandon Moore retired and will forever be known for that play.

The Packers fear Bryan Bulaga has a serious knee injury.  That line was really bad last year, it might get worse this year.

Its gonna be open season when we play the Packers. I don't want any of the 09 season crap to happen again, I want payback.

We will just put Ngata at LE, and Suggs and Doom on the right side.

Update on Bulaga: he has a torn ACL, via PFT.  Poor Aaron Rodgers, it's a good thing he can move.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/08/04/source-bulaga-has-torn-acl/

Still, the one major flaw some people believe Aaron Rodgers has is the fact that he holds onto the football a little too long, hoping to find the best option that is open. Losing Bryan Bulaga is a concern, especially since he's protecting Rodgers' blind-side.

A-Rod will do everything he can to make-up for Bulaga's injury, whether it's scrambling more often or getting use to a quicker release; but, at the same time, it makes you wonder how bad the Packers would be without Rodgers...

Horrible news for me. Rodgers is my fantasy franchise QB, he needs protection. I'm going to give Ted Thompson a call shortly. This will be resolved.

Without Rodgers the Packers would be a bottom 5 team.  Their defense isn't that good, their OL is terrible, the backs are unproven, and their receiving corps is average at best.  Rodgers elevates everyone around him.  Brady has an OL, Peyton has an OL and arguably the best receiving corps in the NFL, Ryan has the second best receiving corps in the NFL, Flacco has better support at all levels (although nothing elite on offense), Stafford has Megatron, Eli has a good receiving group and OL... the list goes on and on.  The only person who comes somewhat close to Rodgers in what they're doing for their team is Drew Brees IMO.

Excellent points. Considering the fact that Rodgers has had shaky Rb's for most of his career, a horrendous OL, and a D that is not even a shell of its old self, he is absolutely doing a terrific job in Green Bay. Granted, he has had some good receivers, such as Jennings/Nelson/Driver (granted, he was old by the time Rodgers took over, but he still was crafty, much like Mason was for us)... but he is the one who drives this team. Without him, they would be 5-11/6-10 each season.

Every team is suffering.  It seems like we got the worst of it though.  I'd take Pitta over any of those guys who got injured.

Maclin is the only one comparable but it's not like the Eagles were planning on doing much anyway.

Really? I would say the 49ers have suffered the most: Michael Crabtree is basically done for the year (and, even if he comes back, an ACL tear is not an easy thing for a WR to recover from, especially without losing some of his speed and acceleration). Also, Chris Culliver is done for the season, as well, with an ACL injury. Plus, San Fran is being quite about Aldon Smith's and Jonathan Goodwin's mysterious injuries. Oh, and then there's Patrick Willis with his fractured hand.

Honestly, the Niners were extremely healthy, last season, sans Mario Manningham, Alex Smith and Justin Smith (for 2 games) getting hurt. I still don't think they'll miss the playoffs; the 49ers have enough talent, depending on if anyone else suffers a major injury, to go at least 9-7 or 10-6 and seek into the playoffs as a wild card team. But, I don't see them being the Super Bowl favorites like "the media" is saying.

This thread is getting boring. What would be more clever is if we predicted what team would be the next to suffer an injury to a key player. I wanted to say Chicago but I think they already had one. I will go Pittsburgh is up next in the preseason

I think there might be something awaiting the Bengals once the season starts. Something to quell the paper momentum that they have managed to develop.

Pitta's pretty overrated too, to be totally honest.

His post-season form was very impressive, but during the year he was pretty average, as unpopular as that opinion may be.

The 49ers have clearly had it the worst.  They've lost multiple starters.

No they're fine, afterall they are the most talented team in the league they could lose anyone and they would be fine because the All-powerful Jim Harbaugh would grab a washout off the street, rub his head, and he'd become the next All-Pro.

My guess would be Miami is the next team with an injury, not sure why but as I read your post... That was the team that popped in my head.

Well, guess what? Lamar Miller was just recently taken off of the Dolphins practice field due to a (severe) limp in his right ankle.

[twitter]ArmandoSalguero[/twitter]: "Lamar Miller being taken off the field limping."

Any chance you could work your magic on another team? :P

UPDATE: Well, I guess Miller's injury wasn't severe, at all. He's actually fine, now. But, Jordy Nelson had knee surgery and isn't expected back until the start of the regular season, at-the-earliest.

Honestly, that isn't the biggest blow the Packers could suffer, especially in comparison to Ryan Bulaga being gone for the year. But, still; huge injuries are occurring left-and-right in Green Bay...

He's still a redzone threat and very reliable in 3rd down situations.  Tight ends don't have to be like Gronkowski when you have a reliable run game and some decent receivers.  They have to create mismatches by being able to block and catch so it's pick your own poison by keeping a linebacker in the game or an extra corner.

Pitta could block well enough to create that mismatch and was Flaccos go-to guy whether or not he was covered.  That alone makes him good in my book and much more useful than Crabtree.

"Recapping today, WRs Danario Alexander and Arrelious (Benn) (Eagles) tore their ACLs and WR Jordy Nelson underwent knee surgery" -Adam Schefter

Another round of injuries to some good players.  Danario Alexander was one of those guys I thought we should nab from RFA for a late rounder with how good he is but people told me he had knee issues.  Looks like they were right.

Huge blow for Danario.  Feel really bad for him.  If that's his one knee, it'll be his sixth surgery.  I expect his career to be over.

There is a reason nobody even inquired about him this offseason.

I thought I just read somewhere that someone wanted the Ravens to keep an eye on Malcolm Floyd because he might become available due to the "embarrassment of riches" the San Diego Chargers had at the receiver position.  I guess that writer should forget about that now.  Philip Rivers is wondering when something good will happen for his team.
