TE Dennis Pitta dislocates/fractures hip, out for the year

I wish we would give Randy Moss a chance.

You will be negged sir, but not by me. I think the 49ers paid him in Trident Layers gum last year, he's worth a look.

Apparently juice was crap in blocking today. We need leach. Without boldin or pitta I don't trust our passing game. We need our d to carry us and to be a running team. Bring back leach and unleash pierce, who I believe will be a superstar.

with this type of injury there's no point speculating.  Will know more after MRI

I know I said take the offer off the table for Leach but now I hope he signs with us. Have Vonta play fullback, obviously and have Juice play second string TE. The man has amazing hands. I feel bad for Joe. He never has any continuity with his star recievers. Both Anquan and Dennis are gone. Torrey Smith limps after every time he runs after the catch, so who knows if he can make it past pre-season also.

I suddenly dont feel good about our offense.

I told people to be a little more reserved. The defense is still the strong point of this team, likely always will be. That being said this is huge for Furstenburg. This is the shot he has been praying for.He is our only full package TE. Make it happen dude.

I wonder who would be happier, us or Fitz?

We aaren't going tto turn into an i-formation run the ball down your throat team. Jim Caldwell is still going to use his 120mil dollar QB and spread the recievers out and put Joe in the shotgun. Exactly how you saw in the playoffs. I do believe Ed Dickson will come through this season. Torrey Smith's route running will be more polished. Torrey was usually going against number one corners anyway. Somebody will step up for the second receiver position. All we need is another TE who can catch, so we can run two tight end sets. Our game plan won't change because of this. They have a ton of faith in Joe and this is his offense.

We a need a strong running game more than ever right now. We already have 2 stud backs along with a good oline. We know what Leach brings to the table, and if we get the run game going it will make the passing game will be a whole lot easier. A good defense will be even more important this year

Except Ozzie rarely signs superstar players, especially WRs.  Would be ironic if he did sign Boldin's old AZ teammate.

Pitta was our best receiver though. We need Dickson,Furstenburg, or someone to step up for pitta even more than we need a WR to step up for Boldin. Lets be clear, this is huge if he misses a lot of time. Someone step up and take these jobs. Ready for August man.

Makes perfect sense but not this season. Fitz is still invested in Arizona. Needs another year or two of being 4th in the NFC West.

The Defense will be back to leading the team(even before Pitta going down) now that we can stop the run. The problem is now we won't be as successful running out of 2 TE sets like we were supposed to unless someone steps up at TE. This means we have to go back to I Form and Leach in the run game. Who has the advanced stats on how we did running behind Leach?

Ok while this is not the best of news, it's really not the end of the universe either.

Pitta is a good solid player, and if he has another productive season he could be a GREAT player.  However, the injury could be worse and he could've been out for longer.  Does it suck we wont have him for the Denver game?  Yes, but it's also better to know now than to know later.

Furthermore, I think the Ravens could become the new most difficult team to prepare to play against.  If you think about it with all the new pieces we are going to have a new look (or two or three or four) that is going to be hard to gameplan.

So folks the sky isn't falling, and we will be ready for Denver come week 1.  They should be the ones worrying about us!!

Maybe we get lucky and a good TE gets cut during/after training camp. We still have 5.3 left in cap space.

we entered Training Camp with $5,299,459 in available Salary Cap space; this number wll get lower and lower and be somewhere at $3.5 mil by start of season if no new additions are made

Yeah.  This.  You have to imagine that if Leach does come back for the rumored $2M, we'll be left with $1.5M to possibly get a TE.  We still need some money in case of future injuries, as well.  This Pitta injury hurts a lot.

deja vu from last season with pitta. didn't he break his wrist in training camp or something? This sounds pretty bad though.

All it means is next man up. Kind of like when Suggs goes down and Webby goes down.

Maybe now instead of peeps putting Dickson down, they'll make it a point to speak positive things into action. Furstenberg makes the team and handles more blocking duties. Next man up

Guys honestly,

I think joe might struggle without pitta and boldin. I fear for him. It's not his fault but if our best reciever is Torrey smith I have to be objective here..we are not that good in outfield. However I believe in our o line and I think Bernard pierce is an all pro in the making

Dickson is a good TE. This sucks but were blowing this out of proprtion.

He will be back.

What I'm worried about is that he might not be in football shape when he comes back

Well Dickson is certainly no Pitta and never will be but this is actually a big win for him as well. Think about it, he becomes the primary receiving TE while Furstenburg blocks and is secondary receiving wise. If all works out we could still move to the 2 TE offense instead of going back to I form. It really is all dependent on which TE we have that steps up into a balanced role behind Dickson. I think Furstenburg really breaks out thanks to this.

Edit: This isn't as big as Eagles losing Maclin imo because we have options and he won't be out that long. No need to press the panic button.
