Who Is The Mvr? (most Valuable Raven?)

34 posts in this topic

Flacco has definitely helped bring something to this Ravens offense that we haven't seen before, Flacco has opened up lights in the offense we didn't even know we had. He is playing at such a high quality level that it would be hard not to credit him.. in our last six games, he has been a major contributor.

At the same time, it's hard to not credit the defense. But then who to choose? Ray Lewis proving he still has it? Terrell Suggs with two crucial defensive touchdowns? Ed Reed with another solid year? Haloti Ngata dominating the front line?

Or how about back to the offense and Le'Ron McClain? The team's leading rusher, leading carrier, with the most offensive touchdowns. All that in his first season as a primary back and he still finds time to play fullback, block, and give this team some versatility when putting two in the backfield?

If we are talking about the whole Ravens organization the nod would easily go to John Harbaugh. For teaching our guys to play as a TEAM?

It's hard to give the nod to just one player.

what about harbaugh??? coming in as a special teams coach and leading a 5-11 team (that wasnt supposed to do anything) to the playoffs (hopefully) the following year. THAT IS DEFINATELY MVR QUALITY. and he seems like a class act too.

At the end of the post it says "if your talking about the whole organization and not just the team the nod should go to harbs." p.s we havent made it to the playoffs just yet.. ;)

Man, this is tough...

The great thing about this is, it's tough because we've seen a true team effort this season. It seems as if Coach Harbaugh's system is working, since he's preached the values of teamwork since he was first signed back in January.

With that said, it looks as if Coach Harbaugh is most deserving of the nod, since he is responsible for the team being unified and ready to play on Sundays.

I agree w/ Franchise, I think what I like best about this team right now is that there is no standout. Every time you think Mason is best part of the receiving corp Clayton or Figurs steps up when necessary. For every time McGahee has a good day there are time Rice or McClain have a goal line run or clutch 3rd down play. For all Harb's leadership it would be for naught if Cam wasn't pulling the O together.

Most Valuable Player - Hands down it Joe. How can it not be? He has come in as a rookie and solidified the single position that has been the thorn in our side for the better part of the past 10 years. Debate over...period.

Most Valuable Person - If we include everyone then its Cam Cameron. Boy does he ever make Billick and Fassel look bad. Joes the man but I'm confident we would be doing pretty well even with Boller in there. Cameron is the true "offensive genius" and I hope he recognizes the fact that he is an elite coordinator but not a head coach and stay with Baltimore forever. Look at Peyton Manning and his coordinator. Please Cam stay!!

I think it's a tie!

John Harbaugh/Cam Cameron, with Rex/Ozzie close behind!

Maybe give slight nod to Harbaugh since he picked Cam!

I just believe Harbs finally got us playing as a Team, not a team of Individuals! Because of him, it's really hard to pick an MVR as it's someone different every week! He's got everyone picking everybody up, and watching each other's backs!

I still think the game at Cleveland was the turning point of the season! Ravens O stakes the D to 10-0 lead, D blows it 10-10. O gives D another 3, D blows it 13-13. Second Half , D totally falls apart gives up two TDs, in the old days, Game Over! But wait, this is the New Ravens! Flacco & Co. say NO WAY and start lighting up the Scoreboard!! D goes Holy Crap! These guys just bailed us out and saved our asses! That

I nominage Joe Flacco, Derrick Mason, Jason Brown, Haloti Ngata, and Ray Lewis
Our MVP is Ray Lewis. He leads this team and keeps us moving forward. Plus, he's Ray Lewis! Joe Flacco is a close second.

Ozzie deserves a medal for picking him up in the supp draft.

This has to go to the Coaching Staff hands down. As said by most of you guys already, they have us playing like a team even behind all the injuries. They have placed all of our players in a role that brings out the best of them and formulate dominate gameplans week after week.

It would be wrong not to mention a few of our players cause they are the ones on the field and IMO our O-line has been the biggest upside so far because without their play this offense wouldn't be clicking like it is. Flacco has done everything and more that a coach could ask out of a rookie QB. Mason has been everywhere and nobody can cover that guy and now the rest of our receiving core is benefiting from it. There isn't really anybody on our D that hasn't played at a high level this year but Suggs, Ngata, Ray and our secondary have really stood out. We all have to be real impressed with our youth, that has been a huge factor in our record and depth this year. Our future looks promising!

Other than the coaches who are doing an outstanding job...

1) Flacco
2) Ngata
3) Mason
4) Ray Lewis
5) McClain

So many to pick from and can't believe I didn't even get Reed in there... I guess it's a good thing having so much trouble to pick a "most valuable raven"!

I dont think there is one MVR. our whole team deserves the honor, because if someone didnt pull theyre weight and give 110% every game, we wouldnt be the team we are now. Our teams confidence is off the charts. Kudos to the coaching staff

Im going to go ahead and say the offense or better yet Cam and the whole coaching staff. The ravens offense is not the step brother to the team anymore. Just going on a limb.

Coach gets it.

This team is great, in large part because of the coaching staff, not in spite of it (I hope Billick's reading this)

Not only that, but he was also able to look past Gaither's academic issues and recognized that he was doing everything possible to play football again by hitting the books and getting his grades up.

Because this year IS looking more like a team effort, I have to go with what is making it look like that, and for that reason, I can't name the playing ability of any one player. I have to look at motivational factors.

Harbaugh is probably big in that regard, but I also have to give it to Ray Lewis. Like someone else said, without him on board, it might not have worked. Ray is a great leader on the team and with him buying into Harbaugh's philosophy, he led the others to do the same.

Of course, Harbaugh also gets props for approaching Lewis before the season to make sure he was on board. He also gets props for the way he and his coaches are leading the team.

Even though I said that we have to look first at the motivators, we can't forget the playmakers and while there are many players that have contributed, Flacco probably gets the nod in this category for making us excited for our offense.

No matter how this year ends, the Ravens have taken a large positive step, on and off the field, for a successful future. It is exciting being a Ravens fan.

Cam Cameron is the reason we have an offense and why Flacco has developed so quickly. He is the main reason why we are where we are. There is absolutely no question that Cam Cameron is the MVR for the 2008 season.

Flacco for sure.

I highly doubt any other rookie qb could have done what he has done so far. The guy started out with a 70 something qb rating. Now I believe he has about a 83 qb rating. For a rookie you can't ask for much better.

Ok maybe a 90 ;)

Umm does Matt Ryan ring a bell?!

I do agree with you that Flacco is an extremely valuable player on our team though...

Its a hard choice and I'm not usually one for that you all win crap...
But I think that everyone mentioned deserves it, Flacco being forced into a starting position as a rookie and not cowering down, not only did he not cower down but he led the team to as of now an automatically .500 season ( Most likely better unless something goes majorly wrong).
Then Ray, I mean? what do you need to say, hes ray.
Pick Sizzle had two picks this year to seal close games for us.
Ngata has had picks! As a lineman that is amazing, let alone coming in when he's needed and getting the job done whether it be on offense or defense, heck he even lined up at fullback this week.
Reed still getting pick 6's and breaking his own record, that is big.
McClain is just a man, that's all there is too it. Everytime he starts getting in that rythmn and starts popping off about 5 yards a carry. Yea, Im on a stream surrounded by enemy fans but I still venture into the chat with "WHOS READY TO RIDE THE MCCLAIN TRAIN"
They dont really like that.

I think Joe Flacco has defenitly made and argument to be our MVP. However he did make some key mistakes in some games that we really should have won (fumble in Pitt, INT's against Tenn). If it weren't for those mistakes, we'd most likely be sittin atop the division. but by no means am I critisizing Flacco, he's been awesome :D :D

I think Derrick Mason always being there for Flacco as his most reliable target is what really has helped Flacco play so well up to this point. And when the QB plays well, it's hard to lose, so my vote goes to Derrick Mason.

And the Oline....
I don't wanna take any credit from anybody, I think the whole franchise should share mvp honors. Excluding Matt Stover. lol jus kidn
I think Lorenzo Neal deserves Credit. he has been under the radar, but seriously, he's been there for us. If it weren't for him, our running attack would not possibly have been this successful. Neal, when mcClain is resting or @ runnning back, always gives those key blocks for our 'backs to hit the hole with authority. It's added another dimension to our backfield, allowing McClain to be that change-of-pace bruising 'back contrary to the quickness of rice and dual-threat of both mcgahee and rice. our 3rd place (currently) running attack should give much credit to this man, but not only the running attack but the whole offense in general. our offense has been ignited with the run, and has made Joe Flacco's job much easier with much less pressure on him.
