Update: Jacoby Jones off the PUP list

What I don't understand is.....

How will he pass the test today when he couldn't do it yesterday? Why would a 2nd chance be scheduled the next day?

you don't magically get in shape the next day....you needs weeks of training to breakdown and rebuild muscle.

It's honestly not that big of a deal. If he retakes it today or tomorrow and passes it it's a non factor. If he retakes it and still doesn't pass then that's a big deal. A lot of guys will or can fail the test on the first try. As long as it's passed before training camp opens up on Wednesday it's a non factor.

is the test easier the 2nd day? cause you would be sore form the 1st day and do worse imo. you need recovery time.

Because he might have only failed it by a few seconds............. This test is a lot about pacing

Yes, the test is easier the second day... Harbs makes things easier for people who fail conditioning tests. And no, he wouldn't be that sore the next day from doing this test. If he feels good enough he should do it. Keep in mind they are pro athletes. They don't get as sore as we regular folk do.

When Jones returned to the team in late May, he was asked whether he felt in football shape. "Usually, I'm the one walking around here half dead, but that dancing got me in shape," he said. "The only difference is the sun out here. Inside, you're dancing in the air conditioning. It's totally different."

and according to sal he was fooling around aka taking it for granted and didn't bring it. So I do think he will pass the test in the next couple of days.

yeah, it's not really concern on my part cuz Jacoby has blue collar personality.  He will pass the test today; our special team needs a true game changer and Jacoby is the key of last year SB run...

Don't forget David Reed also has blasting speed as kick returner.

We do have options in special team.

I just can't wait for preseason games......

His pride is sore from all the rookies calling him out for having to wear the infamous ugly Badge of Shame

There are any number of reasons as to why he could have failed... only 1 is that he was out of shape.

Also not being discussed is that he did show up to camp 2 days earlier than he needed to. He didnt have to show up yet.

Maybe theres a small nagging injury we don't know about or that he showed up early to get a head start. Maybe he knows he needed a few days extra conditioning, or maybe he didn't give it his all on the test and is waiting to take it with the rest of the vets.

For all we know its a league rule that u have to take it to be at the facility so Jacoby walked it just to fulfill league rules, and will really take it tomorrow with everyone else.

Now if he fails it again bc hes out of shape its a bit concerning, but TC will get him in shape for the season. Its not like his conditioning today is what it will be come time for the season. Hes a vet and he'll be ready. Im not counting on him to be the #2 anyways...

Poor D-Reed has such a black eye from his butter fingers a not too long ago.

So many people have memory issues.  He was a beast on returns prior to that "phase" he went through.

Did J.J. re test today ?

Does any one know ?

I wouldn't be surprised if Harbs gave him the old quick trigger to teach him a lesson in dedication to the Ravens and not.... DWTS! haha

yeah, I wasn't so hard on him when he's fumbling, and I remember before he pulled ACL, he was about to break loose for KR TD and all of the sudden he went down after he made a swift twist; it looked like Wes Welker's end of the season injury.

I expect good things from him......

Yea that would have been a 99 yard TD against the Browns. When he got to the 30 he had a clear path to the endzone but the ACL gave out. Pretty tough break for the guy imo. With that being said, the guy has to remain healthy this year, it's his final shot imo.

Thought he signed a 2 yr deal?

Yea he did, but that doesn't give him some kind of pass. I'm a David Reed fan, but there is no doubt that he has to show and prove that he can remain healthy. Even if he doesn't step up in the fashion I think he will as a WRs, he doesn't serve a purpose to this team on Special Teams if he's in the training room.

Remember, a couple years ago the Ravens signed Chris Carr to like a 4yr deal but cut him after year 1 of that deal. Also remember Bernard Pollard was given a 3yr extension last year and we all know how that ended. So David Reed can't be walking around with his chest poked out thinking he's got a spot locked because of a 2yr 2M deal. He still has to prove himself imo and if he doesn't. Bye bye.

Jacoby Jones has passed Ravens mandatory conditioning test, removed from non-football injury list and activated to practice today

No need to worry!

Seems like we go through this same charade every year with some player and it sort of becomes moot over time.

The only time I remember it not being a moot point was the Haynesworth-Redskins debacle.

So Jacoby ends up missing 2 practices and a team building trip, now he's ready to go with the full team. Seems like it didn't even need to be a story, but I like the fact that Harbs made it a story. You don't wanna cover up anything, every will be held to a even higher standard and if you aren't on point you will be called on it.

His position coaches will probably ask for 30 pushups or so and the guys will give him a hard time with the whole dancing thing. But all is well.

No need to worry!

"...Jones' two-day stint on the sidelines won't affect his quest to win the No. 2 receiver job opposite Torrey Smith. The bigger concern for the Ravens should be Jones' inability to consistently separate and make plays. He never topped 562 yards despite getting ample chances during five years with the Texans. Jones is going to be pushed hard by the likes of Tandon Doss and Tommy Streeter..."

Much adieu about nothing .... Or something like that.

He didn't miss any practices (vets start today). Glad he was called out for it but also glad we can get back to talking about football, not sprints.

Jacoby Jones knows that this is his contract year, so he can't be complacent. However, I feel the FO has a plan for each scenario on Jacoby's upcoming free agency.

Money-wise, we can't keep him, but if his contract demand goes down, we can keep him as a special teams guy because Jones made a living off kick returns this past year.
