Update: Von Miller Suspended 6 Games for violating drug policy!

209 posts in this topic

Especially this season bro. His time is running out. I know there are a wave of cheers going around but this means little. Peyton is gonna play the hardest he has in his career and like I said despite Von being gone that secondary is straight up dangerous with the cheap addition of Rodger-cromartie. I hope no one on the Ravens is taking opening day as anything less than what it is. A huge title defense against the best team in the AFC.

I'm cautiously excited about this game. We know we can beat them, but its going to come down to whether we pull it off or not. I have a feeling Flacco will earn his stripes in this one. If he wins this one with a good performance, I feel like he will ultimately have an excellent season and go on to join the ranks of the elite. We win this game, we can win any game, if we're reasonably healthy enough to do so.

Shouldn't this be in the off topic section?  Eh, I'm not a mod so don't mind me!  Bad news for Donkeys, good news for the Ravens.

You don't think this is a relevant topic for us?Our game vs them will kickoff the season and set the tone for the season for them,us, and the entire NFL in regards to our title defense. If we fall to the Broncos we will be written off as lucky losers. This game has huge ramifications for Joe,our WR corps, our brand new defense, and even our special teams. We need a decisive win here to kick off a title defense in true fashion.

This. 110%. We need to show the world that we didn't just catch fire at the right moment, and we need to show the media that our franchise will still play Ravens football even without the legend Ray Lewis.

This. People forget Flacco still needs to have a consistent season to truly solidify his standing. Beating Peyton with no possible mention of fluke would be a good start.

We don't have Cary "20 yards off his man" Williams anymore.

Not a problem anymore

I don't get the Williams hate. He wasn't supposed to be our #1. Webb got hurt. I'm not sure what you guess expected. He's a good CB. Not a 1 but a great 2.

Meh, he wasn't a great 2 either for most of the year. He was a good CB in the playoffs perhaps but otherwise he was one of the worst in the league. To be honest he was a true Ravens Support CB but was out of his element playing full time. His game isn't well rounded enough(he sucks in man coverage) and now he is overrated and overpaid. I don't see how he was a great 2 though.

I know it sounds like a real stupid question, but why should the NFL act on something like this that takes place in the off season? I get it if it's during the season. It's not even something that gives you any sort of competitive advantage.

Manning is going to be on fire this season, especially with the master receiver of dink-and-dunking, Wes Welker, at his disposal. Manning knows his window of opportunity at another Super Bowl is closing fast. In fact, I've heard some say this is his last good shot at winning it all again.

So he'll win it all again with a top tier team while throwing 3 TDs and 7 INTs?

It looks bad on the league. They want model professionals.

Bmac and Oher aren't going to know what to do with themselves

more important, what's my D going to do without their main man for our fantasy game

This is great news for us. After us they face NYG, PHI & OAK. So they catch a break facing the two latter teams. I can't see them starting 0-2 or 2-2 at that matter, but Miller is the really the heart of their defense and this is a big blow, potentially.

Guys lets keep the on track. Not about what Cary did or didn't do, what Manning's year will look like or any of that stuff.

I completely agree with you. I never have been a fan of Peyton's in the least. To me, he's not a playoff-clutch Qb. However, with that statement, many on here will disagree with me. I'm merely talking about the regular season though. There's no denying his regular season dominance.

Every topic flows into different aspects, much like a regular convo does. If its against the board rules to discuss relevant info, then please move it to the OT section. Don't lock this thread up, because we are discussing relevant info without heated arguments.

That's true but discussing Cary Williams at length is a bit too off topic.

Anyway they're still talented enough to challenge us. In fact it sucks they won't have Miller. We won't have as much game tape on the ones they plan on using after him. It's a real bummer in that regard.

I'll bet the appeal, at the very least, will push the suspension back a little.  They could get it resolved in time to suspend because of the time before the opener, but sometimes the appeal lasts really long.  I mean, sometimes the player facing a possible suspension just waits to drop the appeal until the best part of the schedule comes around for the team to lose him.  They almost get to pick which four game stretch they want to miss, and I doubt that'll include the season opening rematch against us.

Also, every time I see this story, it says he "violated NFL policy."  Does anyone have any more details?  It doesn't even mention the word "drugs" anywhere.  We can pretty safely assume that's just an unintentional omission, but could it possibly be something else?  Maybe he tried to hit on Goodell's wife or something.

Someone on hear said they heard it was marijauna. One of the insiders on ESPN has heard marijauna and he has also hear some type of recreational drug

Yeah I just heard that he had tested positive in 2011 for marijuana and amphetamines. So I'm guessing there's your recreation.

The bottom line is his suspension will affect Baltimore's chances positively. The fact that we are going to be on the road coupled with it being the first game towards our title defense, this game and this suspension has direct impact on the Ravens. I would appreciate all the focus staying on topic about how you think this impacts this game and therefore the 2013 season for the Ravens.

4 game suspension is relatively short. Im guessing he was caught smoking weed. If he was caught using PED, i could see him facing alot harder penalty.

Von Miller is a huge loss if the suspension stands.  However, he was only credited a half sack in two games against the Ravens.  We seem to keep him in check.  He is still a huge part of the pass rush and it is a definite positive for the Ravens week 1 game.
