What happened to summer?

42 posts in this topic

This is crazy! I have relatives in Georgia whose kids have already gone back to school, and it's a little over a month before I'm whisking my oldest off to Kindergarten! Summer seems like it just started, and now there are all these back-to-school sales going on all over the place. The weather outside definitely feels like summer, but the school year is right around the corner!

As soon as 4th of July passes, summer just flies by. But, football is just around the corner.

Yep, I don't question it. I just hope for Football season to get here as quick as possible. Then again, it always ends up going by so quick while the off-season just drags.

Honestly, I hate Summer and it seems like it will never end.

Just change your tune about it and it won't seem so short.

It died just like my frozen cold heart.

It really has. I can't wait for this heat to go away. I used to love the summer but since I started working, I can't wait for the winter.

I'll be happy when fall rolls around, specially since we are forbidden to use the AC at work....can't set the thermostats lower than 74 degrees. I came a whisker's length away from overheating Saturday night (and I have to be careful after suffering near-heat stroke back in '10), despite guzzling nearly a gallon of ice water during my eight hours....this however does give me the most excellent of motivations to look elsewhere.

That's ridiculous that a company won't let you have air conditioning!

Ahhhh. Yes. That'll do it. People commonly do that. There's your mistake. Next time drink a sports drink or orange juice as well as water. Your body needs the electrolytes not just hydration.

Gatorade/Powerade are the absolute best drinks, combined with water, to consume when you're exerting yourself in the heat. There's a reason NFL players drink Gatorade on the field. The electrolytes, my friend.

The building is probably 40 some odd years old...when the AC gets below a certain temperature, it freezes up and then floods the drop ceiling tiles with constant dripping. I can not count how many ceiling tiles we've had to replace this summer already and last summer.

As for Gatorade....meh. I know I know...it's the best but I always have to force myself to choke the stuff down.

Eh I keel over from heat exhaustion, I'll file a workers comp claim and make the bosses fill out the reams of paperwork.

The healthiest things in life aren't always the best tasting things

Ain't that the truth. I've been trying to eat better lately and it SUCKS.

Good luck to you man. I respect you for just trying to eat better. That's a start, a good foundation to build on. I lost around 40 pounds during one Summer by just eating very healthy and exercising like a fiend, and I've not looked back since. Its the best thing you could ever do for yourself, and it will help you live a better quality, longer life than remaining unhealthy will afford you.

I want to get back into pre-baby, baby, baby stage, but that might be a harder task than I think. After my first two, I was able to relatively get back into shape very easily, but I think this one will be more difficult for some reason. I know my body won't ever allow me to be the physique I was before having three kids, but my goal is to get back into a size 4! I was that about seven years ago, and I am going to get that back somehow! :)

So guys, the norm here in Kuwait is 125 degrees a day right now. I would kill for a Md. Summer!

Thank god it's a dry heat. Can you imagine 125 and 90% humidity? Good luck to you!

This. Salt and sugar (avoid sweet tea) help retain water in the body
