Matt Elam saved himself some cash and is going to get to training camp on time. Good deal to me!

A few Cap details with Elam now signed:

Brian McFarland ‏@RavensSalaryCap 5h Terms of Matt Elam's deal should be a $6.767M deal 4 year deal, with a $3,301,456 SB and a '14 Cap # of $1,230,364

Brian McFarland ‏@RavensSalaryCap 5h With the last of their unsigned draft picks Matt Elam now signed, Ravens are $5,299,459 under the Salary Cap.

Brian McFarland ‏@RavensSalaryCap 4h Regarding the 5th yr option being reported in Elam's deal - its nothing special - its CBA-mandated & part of every contract for 1st rd picks

Brian McFarland ‏@RavensSalaryCap 3h With Matt Elam now signed, Ravens are $5,299,459 under the Cap. Full breakdown of Ravens Cap and Cap #'s --->>>> http://russellstreetreport.com/salary-cap/

Brian McFarland ‏@RavensSalaryCap 9 Jul (2/2) But that is the Ruleof51 Cap #. As of Week 1, all on 53, PUP, IR, PS will count against Cap. That will greatly eat into the $5,299,459

It's nice to check one more thing off the list of stuff hanging over our heads.

For this season I feel that's the last major priority. I understand stressing about signing some players long term, but right now I'm excited to see them play for a new contract. I think our defense will regain it's dominant reputation, and our offense will not take a step backwards with Caldwell as coordinator. All I'm looking for now is a last minute pick up with our current cap space.

I knew this guy was jacked when I saw him at the combine, but good god. He's looks like Q if he would have been a safety.

He does looked jacked. Along with Elam, Brandon Williams and John Simon look huge as well. We didn't only get faster, but stronger too. :)

Man I just watched his presser. I'm liking everything about this kid. Talked about how he loves to learn, give back to the kids, hard worker and the expectations he sets for himself is higher then what any outside voice can put on him. If this guy doesn't already sound like a Raven I don't know who does.

I don't want to place the Ed Reed comparisons on him, but if he plays as well as he carries himself then the Ravens just stuck gold.

Lol we must've taken up the same bandwidth. I just finished as well and came away with a similar feeling.

Yea the guys just sounds like a veteran already. He just adds to the other core young guys we have on this team. Plus Joe called him a pretty cool dude, so I guess that's like the stamp of approval lol

Also really impressed with Elam.  I think we found a good one once again.  It's more than just talent on the field.  You need to have a good head on your shoulders, and that describes Elam perfectly.
