Bottom 5 NFL teams for 2013

82 posts in this topic

So this was a topic on espn radio today and I thought why not post it in here and see people's opinions. Here are my personal 5.

1. Oakland - worst qb situation in the nfl?
2. Jacksonville - no this is the worst?
3. Cleveland - no THIS is the worst, and will be running an archaic offensive scheme.
4. San Diego - they have a qb who was once considered a top 10 player, but really nothing else on either side of the ball.
5. Miami - tried to compete with Phillys dream team for the most bad contracts signed in one offseason. Sure to blow up in their faces.

Worst NFC team- Carolina - they just have no direction, they don't really know where they want to go with this team.

I actually think Carolina might make the playoffs... San Diego does have a fair amount of talent on defense contrary to popular belief.

Yeah I definitely think Carolina could be a wild card team if Cam can improve from last year. Also I think New Orleans will still be pretty bad.

I thought of the saints but I can't see brees winning less than 7-9 games no matter how bad the defense is. I have a lot less confidence cam can win that many on his own. And the panthers d is getting just as bad as the saints. Tampa to me is a team on the rise and should have the best defense in that division.

yes, but they got no QB - i see Glennon taking over from Freeman somewhere in November

Whoa. Did we all forget about the Jets and possibly the Bills?

the Jets will be alright if they change their QB sooner rather than later; Bills won't be the laugh of the conference like the likes of Jags and Raiders though

Yep.

Oakland, Jets, Jacksonville, Bills, and (San Diego/Arizona).

Cleveland I think will be very competitive.  They are going to give good team fits.  I think Carolina can also take a step forward.  And no way do I see Miami on that list.  I think Tannehill will progress nicely.  They've added some good pieces and have drafted nicely.

I will dissagree with this notion. I believe freeman takes a step forward not back. Granted it could go either way as he has been somewhat of a yoyo to this point.

I think the worst team in the NFC will be Philly.

I think Arizona improves with Palmer

I also think Detroit improves

JAC

OAK

AZ

BUF

PHI

NYJ

The 5 and 6 spots depend on how the QB situation in NY turns out.  Wouldn't be surprised if KC stayed in the bottom 5 with Smith and Coach Reid.

Yeah I don't see how people can put the brownies in the bottom 5. Bottom 7 or 8 for sure, but they have the AFC East on the schedule and they will play Jax or Ten (whichever finished last in the division) and AFC West last place team.

If Weeden makes any improvement over last year, those are winnable ball games. I don't see NFC North to be overly dominate either. They could very well end up 2-2 after those games. Norv Turner should definitely help them score some points

as much as we have beat up the browns , sneaking suspicion we need to worry less about pitt and more about them . something tells me they could back door the playoffs    remember never overlook anyone ,  we did that to miami one year that game was a make or break and broke our season

I believe norv is part of the reason the browns will regress not progress. It is a myth that he is a good coordinator. This is not 1992. His offense is outdated. Its cam cameron with a little better play calling. Also they won't be able to stop the run on defense so their pass rush will be negated.

Someone mentioned detroit improvinh but I think the opposite. Calvin can only cover up for how bad stafford is to a point. They haven't improved their run game or defense so they could potentially find themselves in the bottom.

get ready for the negs.

More than a few people thought Norv. was the messiah and having him will give us five consecutive undefeated seasons.....

I am not one of those people mind you...

Luckily our front office has more sense than our fans. If we went by everything the fans wanted at one time harbaugh would have been fired and flacco benched after Denver.

I'm pretty confident in my dislike for norv. Actually putting him in place of Marty was the worst front office decision I have ever seen.

I'll go with (worst to least worst)

1. Jacksonville

2. Oakland

3. St Louis

4. Tampa Bay

5. Buffalo

I have no faith in Freeman and have no clue about Glennon and I just have a baaaaad feeling about the Rams. They make me very uncomfortable. I think the Jets will probably be a a very mediocre 7-9, which will be sad, because I enjoy the circus.

If Weeden morphs properly, CLE ould run away with a WC and several division wins.  We all remember how they humiliated PIT last year.

TB and STL are up-and-coming teams!  STL was 2 division wins from winning the NFC West last year.  TB has an elite RB, a passing game with a lot of potential and a decent D, in a topsy-turvy division.

Right now I'd say the bottom 5 would be, IMO:

28. Arizona - I think Palmer finally gives them some stability at the QB position, but I think the defense still won't be as good as it used to be and the offense still doesn't have much for the running game. If Palmer can be Kurt Warner 2.0 I think they could make some noise, but back in Warner's the Cards defense was very good; right now I don't trust their front 7.

29. Miami - I feel like the Dolphins have become the new Redskins under Stephen Ross, they throw money at players that wouldn't otherwise sign with them and then don't have the foundation to put them to use. They decided to overall their LB Corps, when it wasn't even the real issue with their defense and didn't do much to address the secondary. They are trusting Jon Martin to protect Tannehill, which could work or cost them their QB.

30. New York Jets - They haven't really done anything to help the offense for this season besides adding Geno Smith and he won't make as big an impact this year as he will down the road. They can't do much worse than last year, but I think they will try.

31. Jacksonville - This the other team I think is in full rebuilding mode, the only reason they don't go lower is because I feel that if Gabbert falters they at least have someone serviceable in Henne to replace him. The defense should be better and they should have a solid running game if MJD is healthy, but their passing game makes what Adrian Peterson had in Minnesota look like Green Bay lol

32. Oakland - While I respect what the new regime is trying to do in Oakland, I just don't think they will be able to get it done this year. It takes several years to purge the mess that Al Davis created and Mark Davis is still messing around just enough to slow things up. Added to that, I don't think Fylnn will be effective and they don't have anyone behind him and you get another 1st overall pick for the Raiders, hopefully they don't get Russell 2.0.

MIA still has a lot of young talent.  A quality defense, top-notch run game and a promising passing game.  Unless Tannehill takes a serious step back this year, MIA should be an easy #2 or even a potential #1 in the AFC East.  I'll give you the fact hat they're stuck with one of the worst Ks in the league in Carpenter.

They had a top-notch running game with Reggie Bush, I know people are high on Lamar Miller, but he still has to prove he can be the guy. Their defense has good pieces, but the strength of that group was their LBs and they replaced both guys in the middle, I think Ellerbe will be solid (not what they paid him for though), but Wheeler I feel like could be woefully ineffective. Tbh other than the new guys being younger I would have taken Burnett and Dansby over Ellerbe and Wheeler.

I think the Vikings will be there, I think the Dolphins have a good chance to win their division.

Oakland, Jets, Vikes, Jags, Buf in no particular order.

Cards, Titans, Browns are my wildcards.

Yeah, that was a mistake.  Do you know if they drafted a replacement K for Carpenter?

I think BUF's run game will save them from this lowest of lows.  Likewise in MIN.  Agreed with what you said about MIA.
