Rb Situation

4 posts in this topic

I'm at the top of the league, and should be the top seed going into my play offs. That being said, I've go some concerns with my RB situation:

I've got Thomas Jones, Addai, Portis and Tim Hightower. Jones has been a stud recently, addai has been inconsistent, and Portis is banged up. Should I drop hightower to either handcuff Portis with Ladell Bettes, or Pick up Sammy Morris or Pierre Thomas?

I wouldn't drop Hightower since he'll have value as the season continues, more than Ladell Betts, anyway.

The handcuffing of Betts to Portis, at least this week, wouldn't be smart since it's too risky to start any Redskins offensive player against the Ravens defense. The Giants' explosion on the ground a couple of weeks back was rare, and lightning doesn't always strike twice. But I still wouldn't drop Hightower for Betts in any circumstance.

If you have to drop Hightower, Pierre Thomas is the safer, more profitable pick-up since he will remain the starter until Reggie Bush fully recovers from his knee injury (regardless of whether Bush is activated), and Thomas has been a reliable player (at least for me) this season at the flex position. He has 7 TDs from scrimmage this season, and his yardage as a kick returner, combined with his rushing and receiving yards, is phenomenal.

Agree completely. Hightower is a primary running back. Pierre Thomas is not, he's been playing great because Bush has been out. But Bush is back in the picture now. This week the Rams play the Cardinals. So when the cardinals get the lead, they will run the ball in the second half. To get a little running game practice going into the playoffs. Betts wouldn't be worth handcuffing in this game. He'd be going against the Ravens anyways.
