A few thoughts on this team. Cam Newton and Trent Richardson will be a dynamic tandem. They could potentially dominate games. I like how the WRs fit into this team as well. They are all young, and at this point the WR corps lacks a true #1 but I think Randle could develop into that piece. I dont like Hill though.

Solid OL. Castanzo and Dotson are both solid OTs and Asamoah is a very good guard to go along with an All Pro Center. Should be great for opening up holes for Trent.

The Defense looks to be good, but not great. Fairley is a beast and Olivier Vernon is drawing rave reviews in Dolphins camp. I'm not that high on Wimbley as he is a pure pass-rusher IMO. Butler is a very good ILB. The secondary is solid with two very good corners although the safeties could be exposed.

I meant in terms of athletic ability. I really liked Richardson as a prospect and cringed when the Browns got him

I was never sold on him as the next Adrian Peterson, personally. He reminded me more of a Steven Jackson with slightly better lateral movement as a prospect than he did Peterson.

That's still scary. He's a beast

That's a lot of unproven youth at the WR position.  Could work out, but could also be very painful in the next three years.

yep, my defense will have a field day vs this team

My thoughts exactly on that dynamic duo.  Scoring touchdowns near the goalline shouldn't be a problem (especially when you add in Gronk).  All three of those guys have a nose for the endzone.

FB: Darrel Young (22)(IDK too much)

TE: Anthony Fasano (17)(Very soid option at TE)

WR: Antonio Brown (6)(Elite WR in the slot and good return man)

WR: Malcom Floyd (15)(Very good when you got him)

LT: Michael Roos (5)(Great LT. Especially in pass pro)

LG: Kevin Boothe (19)(Solid OG)

RG: Rodney Hudson (21)(Again, solid)

RT: Todd Herremans (12)(Solid)

Utility: Dexter McCluster (23)(Sproles esq player. Nice pick)

Defense (Hybrid):

DE: Chris Long (4)(STUD with a capital S, I was originally going to take him but passed him up for Jones bc of Youth)

DT: Red Bryant (16)(From where you got him. STEAL)

Jack LB: Demarcus Ware (2)(One of the best pass rushers in the game)

Will LB: Phillip Wheeler (9)(Good 4-3 OLB. Can do everything well)

Mike LB: Jasper Brinkley (20)(Nice pick from where you got him)

Sam LB: Sam Acho (13)(I would've taken him if I wasn't set at OLB)

FS: Reggie Nelson (11)(Good from where you got him)

SS: Pat Chung (18)(Mediocre but good)

Solid assessment. The only thing that I would disagree on is Castonzo being a solid OT. He was routinely beaten as a pass blocker, allowing the 4th most sacks with 10 and the 2nd most QB hits with 13, along with 35 pressures. The upside is still there, and he was better in other areas. But should he perform well in 2012, it will likely be viewed as a bounce back season.

No disagreement there. It's scary, and Richardson certainly has a high ceiling. But Adrian Peterson is beyond frightening, so I'll stand by my opinion in that I wouldn't compare the two.

Costanzo was a pretty good run blocker though wasnt he? He also is still young with upside.

Tons of it. Not elite but very good upside

He definitely was, and I did remark the upside. I'm just worried about him as a pass blocker. Though he should benefit in playing with a better unit. Lord have mercy on last year's Indianapolis OL.

are you paraphrasing gabe's assessment there or is it your opinion too?

i thought some thing like this can be glued during training camp

miller(solb)-cushing(ilb)-bowman(ilb)-spoon(wolb)

Tagging Richardson as the next Adrian Peterson is a somewhat lofty expectation at this point. He was better than his stats indicate, but the two are miles apart at this point. He needs to improve on his YAC, where he surprisingly ranked in the Bottom 10 with 2.1 yards per attempt. Jon Asamoah is a standout at OG, and I wouldn't label Olivier Vernon as a bust, as he flashed potential in 2012. Jerron McMillian split time with other Safeties in the Packers secondary and was solid in coverage.

Comparing Richardson to Peterson must be a joke. I would not even be as kind to Richardson as you have been here. He shows no toughness in regards to being a power running back whatsoever. He was injured constantly last year as well as his senior year on college. I agree with Jim browns assessment that there is nothing special about him in any way.

Not hugely excited about this offense, but it should be good behind a very strong OL. Brown and Floyd should be good downfield targets for Kapernick and Stewart is a nice RB. Fasano isnt much of a threat at TE though.

Defense is very good, especially getting after the passer. Dareus and Long can be pushed around a bit against the run and Red Bryant isnt the player he used to be. Solid LB corps. I like the secondary, but Desmond Trufant has been dissappointing so far. However, Leon Hall is still a very good player and can be a #1. The safeties are average.

I agree with this assessment for the most part. The pass rush will be devastating which is a good thing because the coverage from the lbers back is shaky at best.

This is a solid team, in my book. My biggest concern would be with the run defense, and it would be a significant one. Chris Long, Marcell Dareus and Red Bryant were routinely pushed around in the running game last year. I didn't see much of Jasper Brinkley, but I read that he fell into the abyss last season, being abused in coverage and missing 21 tackles, the 5th highest total in the league. Reggie Nelson was outstanding in coverage last season, and a steal with where he was taken.

Brinkley acho and even wheeler were poor against the run as well so that adds to the concern. I was probably overly critical of the secondary as I've always thought hall was a bit overrated but that could be mostly due to him being slowed by injury early in his career. I do like trufants chances of becoming a true shut down corner better than anyone else in this draft. You are also correct on Nelson he was a good choice as well. Chung is not really exceptional in anyway though.

That they were. Hall's a solid CB, though the injuries have meddled with his ability to stay on the field, I agree. Trufant was one of the only CBs that I didn't scout, so I'll have to take your word for it. Thank you, and agreed on Chung.

I definitely think that my run defense is more of a question than my pass D but there are still some pieces that can help out there. Bryant was slowed by injuries all season but when healthy he is an elite run defender at the 5-tech spot. Dareus is still young but he has all of the makings to develop into a very nice run stuffer too. Brinkley can struggle in the open field but I plan on using him primarily as an in the box run stopper, a role which perfectly fits his skills. Chung has also been very good as a SS in stopping the run.

I understand that Kaepernick hasn't done enough to be called a great QB yet but I think we can all agree his potential is through the roof. He has a cannon arm and is one of the fastest QBs in the league. Pairing him with an elusive WR like Antonio Brown will give defenses fits because both players are great at extending plays. He also has a rock solid OL to work with, an elite defense backing him up, and all of the pieces necessary for a read option attack with Stewart, Young, and McCluster. I see him having a ton of success with the roster I have assembled.

I agree with some others in not being sold on kap at all, however I agree with your assessment and have assembled a complimentary team around him. Despite the possible run d struggles and some growing pains at qb, this is a playoff caliber team.
