Stokely really showed he can be exactly what I wanted him to be when we signed him.  3rd down grabs, getting open over the middle, good hands.  I'm loving this pickup.

I think Thompson better get healthy quick with the way our rookies are looking in the preseason games, so far.  They might have played their way onto the squad considering it looks much riskier now to try and stash them on the PS.

I agree. I've been a Doss rationalizer (aka: give him more time) for awhile now, but it just doesn't seem to be working out. He saw a lot of reps tonight and didn't impress me at all, while some of these young guys are lighting it up.

the way I see this situation at the moment is:

WR1 Torrey - a given

WR2 Stokley - a nice surprise last night and promise for things to come

WR3 Jones - his best role on offense to complement the main returner position he's got locked

WR4 Brown - best of the rest

WR5 Mellette - plays tidier than Doss at this moment

WR6 Williams - special teams will keep him in

Bubble: Doss - hard to see him bounce back strong after the telling off he had last night from Joe

IR Thompson - missed too much time and opportunity to play with the starters to get it done this year

but all can change at any given moment lol

Remember this thread was started in early July - I'm sure back then nobody gave Brown a second thought.

I see #1 and #2 as Smith and Jones, #3 Stokley, #4 through #6 Mellette, Brown, Thompson, Williams, or Doss.  Yes that's right, it's still a close race for the last 3 receiver positions.  I don't see us carrying 7 receivers.  We will need to work the magic with IR/PS to save someone that we really didn't want to cut.  The first cuts are coming soon and we will know for sure by the 31st.

A lot can happen from July to August.  Streeter is going to be cut and Brown will make the team.  I just hope that Smith convinces him to cut his hair.  I'd hate to see him dragged down from behind by his hair.
