Somehow I missed the release of Within Temptation's new album, and the trippy music video for the first single.

Yup, this is what I'm spending the last of my iTunes money on.

Oh wait I didn't miss it, they just released it a few hours ago.

I have been thinking of Sinatra and also Skynyrd as of late - I may perform more of their work in music shows within due time.

That awful moment you realize you paid full price for a death metal/horrible grunting album.  I was seduced by the pretty lady's pretty voice, and now the devil is speaking to me.  The music part is SO good, but the grunts ruin the whole thing.

Epica this time, but After Forever tricked me as well.  Luckily Amaranthe is up front about the horrid metal stuff and their terrible guy singer or I might have been 0 for 3.  Why are so many good voices being wasted?  At least the After Forever chick is with Nightwish now, and their male vocalist is sort of James Hetfield-esque and like how he's used.  Nightwish usually puts out decent stuff that's alright to listen to, but Imaginaerum was disappointing because there weren't any standout tracks.

I'm cleansing myself with The Black Keys.  I'm finally listening to a lot of entire albums that I've bought for singles and never got around to hearing the whole thing.

Yea I don't really get too much into death metal...

Like more melodic style.. Metalcore types

Maylene and sons of disaster, issues, BFMV, all that remains, Underoath etc.

All these bands are like that, symphonic metal is really melodic and the music is generally really good.  The singing is just hit or miss, generally dependent on the grunts and screams.  I just look into a lot of these bands because I really like metal with chick singers, it creates a good contrast and a lot of them are incredibly talented.  They just need to be in bands where it's them just singing.

Much better CD night tonight.  Alice in Chains and Audioslave.

Any of you guys listen to Sevendust?  I'm thinking about exploring them next, I heard Picture Perfect on the radio and thought it was really good.

Been listening to a lot of Led Zeppelin lately...over the last two days I've discovered more of their songs and I loved them all.

10 years gone, Achilles last stand, over the hills and far away, Since I've been loving you, when the levee breaks, going to California, --- all newly discovered & brilliant.

Now I can say Zeppelin > Skynyrd. Free Bird> everything tho

I love when the levee breaks. One of my favorite Zeppelin songs.

I've seen seven dust live couple times but not someone I consistently listen to...

And you are right about a lot of chick metal singers being really talented.. Scary sometimes what range some have on their screams

Skillet's Awake is surprisingly solid.  Comatose is good too, and the title track is a really great song.  I'm a lot more impressed with them than I thought I would be, but I can't tell if they're really the religious rock band I've seen them billed as or not.  I'm leaning towards not really.

They are.. I've seem them love many times.. They share their beliefs every show and are fully committed to them

One of the better live performances I've seen.. Especially when they have instrumentals with them which they always do now.. Their violinist Jonathan chu is a beast.. And of course their drummer Jen Ledger >>>>>

That's surprising, outside of the one song where they spell it out at the end of Comatose (album), their lyrics could just as easily be attributed to a significant other.  Still he's a good singer and they have some good licks.

Hit up the back half of One-X finally.  That's a really great album, solid throughout and plenty of standout tracks.
