What Are You Listening To?

Finally added one of the greatest grunge albums ever made to my collection since I got Dirt by Alice in Chains for Christmas. Down in a Hole is truly great song, but there are so many other good songs too. Enjoying it a lot.

Also got some other stuff for myself: Unorthodox Jukebox (Bruno Mars), The Lady Killer (Cee Lo Green), In My Own Words (Ne-Yo), The Year of the Gentleman (Ne-Yo), and The 20/20 Experience - Part 2 of 2 (Justin Timberlake).

Dirt was fantastic and Down in a hole is one of my favorite songs. I enjoyed year of the gentleman even though I'm not big Ne-Yo fan.

This has got to be the absolute worst period in music history.

The classics never get old though.

I've been on a Skynyrd kick lately..sure everyone knows free bird and sweet home alabama..but wow their guitarists, Steve Gaines, Allen Collins, Gary Rossington are all extremely amazing and under rated guitarists...

If you wanna hear some great guitar work, check out I know a little. Fantastic

I picked up The Last in Line, so we're off to the witch, we might never ever ever return!  Dio was the man.

Also, I finally bought A Perfect Circle's first album.  I love Tool, so it was a logical progression.  Seems like everything Maynard James Keenan does is very technical and musical.

The album. Found it in a clearance bin.

Its a solid album. Not my favorite dio one but at clearance bin price you can't pass it up! Now you just gotta find Holy Diver or The Very Beast of Dio.

Who doesn't have Holy Diver?  Great album.

After months of careful deliberation I've come to the conclusion that Rap God is the greatest rap song, ever.

6,077 words in 6:05 minutes. Averages out to 16.64 words per second.

Evil Twin is up there as well, lyrically. I like Bad Guy more after the patient and extremely helpful use of rap genius. Headlights is heart felt. So Far

, Love game, Brainless and Legacy are great songs too.

My favorite album of his. Whether it's his best, is a matter of taste.

I'm actually not a fan of the new album.  Hard to beat the Marshall Mathers LP for me.  The first one that is.

Yeah I have trouble saying it's better then the first one too but usually that's the case with sequels. But the way he fell off for awhile and then showing the world he's still got it, (in what I would call a bad time for rap) completely did it for me. He's a true lyrical genius and IMO the G.O.A.T.

He's the only rapper I like listening to who's still alive besides a little bit of Nas, J Cole & Kendrick. I liked Styles P & Cassidy but stopped listening to them about year ago. I still listen to BIG,Big L & Big pun sometimes.

Eh, didn't really like that song much. Your better than me, Survival and Berzerk were my 3 least favorites.

I'm just amazed at how album filler is so nondescript in almost every case.  I mean everyone once in a while you'll find a golden track that didn't hit the airwaves, but more often than not I find myself understanding why things were picked as singles.  This all comes from listening to Dirt again, I mean it's a great album don't get me wrong, but outside of Down in a Hole, Would, and Them Bones all the track sort of blend together.  I can think of maybe 5 non-Greatest Hits albums that I think are great throughout, with a few more that are pretty solid.

I actually hated the new eminem album... Maybe I'm just in the minority.

I guess I can see why if you don't use Rap Genius as a guide lol. His lyrics are so ridiculous that I miss so much the first time I listen to one of his songs

I don't think words per minute is a useful gauge for rap quality.  His flow is certainly impressive from a technical standpoint, but none of the songs resonate with me the way The Way I Am or Till I Collapse did.

Although its not a favorable opinion I'll take Lupe as a lyricist over Eminem all day. He's by far my favorite rapper. No disrespect to Eminem because he's definitely top 3 IMO.

I would say Old Eminem > New Eminem
