The return of "Who Stays and Who Goes?" -- Opinions wanted!

6 posts in this topic

As I did last year, I will be covering one position on Sunday every week leading up to the season.  The concept of this offseason conversation starter is to simply pick which players make the team and who gets left out.  The results will leave us with the board's "consensus" 53-man roster.  However, there are a few things that I'd like to improve upon based on last year's run.  So, I need opinions on the following questions:

1. How should I choose the number of players per position?  Should I base it on the Ravens standard (2 QB, 3 RB, 1 FB, 6 WR, 3 TE, 9 OL, 7 DL, 8 LB, 6 CB, 4 S, 3 ST, 1 open slot at any position) or should I calculate total number of votes?  The problem with the number of votes is that some positions may get more action than others.

2.  Should I just leave out ST and QB?  It's pretty much forgone how that vote will turn out, so not sure I should do those considering I'm a little behind already.

3.  Poll or no poll?  Last year it only stayed live for a little over a week.  Not really sure why, so if anyone would like to message me on an error I may have made?  I'd like to consider myself a veteran of the boards at this point, but I never make polls lol.

Here's the plan for each Sunday (and tomorrow, since I've started a little too late), using random.org:

July 3 - CB

July 7 - WR

July 14 - RB

July 21 - OL

July 28 - LB

Aug 4 - DL

Aug 11 - S

Aug 18 - TE

Aug 25 - Final Vote

Aug 29 - Final Roster Unveiled

I'd say go off what has been the standard for the Ravens because that is most likely predictor for how the roster will look this year.

As far as ST, for Punter and Kicker are pretty much locks as long as there are no injuries. Though KR/PR would be interesting for discussion since we don't always use the same guy for both and Jacoby might see less time back there as his role increase on offense.

Just my two cents

I wasn't going to worry about KR/PR because that player will likely make the team based on contributions at their position in addition to returner. When I go through each position, I'll note their other capabilities, such as gunner, returner, ST standout, etc.

In that case then I have no issue skipping ST lol
