Desk job?  Gotcha!

Yep, IT stuff. Majority of my work can all be done remotely so I can multitask.

To get us back on topic, its a little sad to scan Laker message boards these days, everyone is putting up pipe dream 2014 rosters or talking about tanking. No one seems interested in talking about the season to be played lol

I know that everyone and their brother is burying the Lakers, but I'm intrigued by what they might be able to do. People forget that D'Antoni never had a training camp to put his system in place, the guy he planned to run the offense (Nash) was hurt so much he could never build the system around him so he built it around Kobe (the only other guard capable of driving the offense).

I'm not expecting anything spectacular like a deep run in the playoffs (or even beyond the first round to be honest), but I think they will at least be fun to watch. They won't be able to defend much, but they should be able to score in bunches.

Their regular season success will be contingent upon the health of their 2 HOFers, particularly Kobe.  They live and die by their veterans.

Can't that be said of any team? Not many teams could survive injuries to their top 4 players and still be successful, unless the one guy that doesn't get hurt is LeBron.

I know, but LAL has NO depth.  They lost their supporting players in Howard and Peace.  Gasol is constantly hurt and didn't mesh with Dantoni.

Now Howard is a supporting player? No. MWP was basically a defensive stopper at this point in his career, nothing more, while it sucks to lose him he doesn't fit with the system the Lakers are trying to run any more.

Pau didn't mesh well with Howard, Howard can't live beyond 5 feet from the basket so he displaced Pau from the post, where he is still one of the best guys in the game. Last year was the first year that he had serious injury issues, he's dealt with bumps and bruises for the past few years, but what player in his 30s hasn't? I expect him to have a major bounce back year as the Lakers primary Post Player. by signing Kaman and having Jordan Hill back those two can do the scrappy, dirty work and unlike Howard, both of those guys can hit a 15 foot jumper if needed.

I remember when the Lakers first did the sign and trade for Nash everyone was excited to see what the Lakers could do with and Nash-Pau pairing before they brought Howard in. In many ways Pau is a better fit for what D'Antoni wants to do than Howard because he is much more versatile on offense than Howard. Pau could end up being a more skilled, all be it less athletic, version of what Amare was during his heyday with the Suns, plus he brings more to the table defensively than Amare can on his best days.

Howard basically was a supporting players due to his injury issues/not meshing with the system/being Kobe's caddy.  How do you think he'll do in HOU, anyway?

I think he will be closer to what he used to be and what he was showing at the end of last year. It will be interesting to see what he will do and how he will mesh with Harden who is still a ball dominate guard, I think things will be fine as long as they are winning, but if they struggle he will go back to his ways of asking for ball even though he has no offensive abilities to speak of beyond dunking alley oops.

Monta Ellis to the Mavs. 3 year 30 mill.

Lol, the Mavs are a hot mess right now.

Probably end up in the middle of the pack and struggle to get back to relevance dealing out deals to chuckers like Ellis. He's fun to watch and can finish around the rim, but his shot selection and outside shot is horrid.

Let's see the Bucks sneak into the playoffs without him.

As erratic as his shot is, they still needed the guy.

Doesn't help that they lost their other star G, Jennings.

Speaking of MIL, they just traded Luc Mbah a Moute to SAC.  At least they still have Ersan... :(

Don't hate on Monta
So underrated
Extremely Clutch and you are way off base calling his outside shot "horrid". He jacks up threes but a great shooter over all.

Bucs get rid of their PG, SG, and best defender all in two weeks.

Everything but the kitchen sink.  This IS the team that let Abdul-Jabbar walk, so...

The Hawks matched the Jeff Teague offer meaning the Bucks have no one now
They are genuinely screwed

At least this is a team used to failure...

Bust for the 4th Overall pick in the draft? Yes.

Bust as a role player who can hit a 3 and play some defense at the 2 and 3 at the veteran minimum? No.
