im sorry but I have to bring this up.......I have been reading these comments and thinking that the same ravens fans that are complaining that "people just look at stats, and don't actually watch flacco play" are the ones that say big ben is done because of the injuries or isn't that good.

now I agree that flacco is a great QB and his stats don't tell the whole story, but I have been saying these same things to ravens fans about ben for years.........I watch every single snap he plays, and most people don't so they judge him off stats......

this is how it feels guys.......to know your QB is something special but still have to defend him to people who watch him once or twice a year[/quote]
Big Ben is great. Who thinks that? My only question about Ben is if he can continue to perform due to injuries which are a direct result of his unmatched ability to extend plays and take hits.

Thank God Joe hasn't had any serious injuries. Knock on Woodhead.

There's a difference when you're looking at stats and injuries though.  If Ben was consistently on the field doing what he does, he'd be up there in the top 5 discussion.  However, he can't stay healthy, which knocks him down a bit.  I'm not denying that he's a very good QB.  I may not like the guy, but I can't deny his talent.

Ray plays defense. You can still have those talks, speeches, (whatever) with the offense. If you as a Qb are not ready to come onto the field and make everyone listen, then you are in the wrong profession.

Watching the speeches Ray made those speeches to the entire team.

I've actually been using Big Ben as a measuring stick in arguments with people about how stats don't matter.  Joe and Ben have comparable stats, so you can't say one is clearly better than the other due to that alone.  Although many still have Ben ahead, which is a rational argument, you can't say it's because of stats.

Injuries, however, are a different story.  Some players just seem to have a bad luck bone, which is the only thing that won't break.  I never used to believe it, but I live in Philly, so McNabb and now Vick clearly have a high probability of injury.  The same can now be said about Roethlisberger.  It has a lot to do with style of play, but it also has a lot to do with how each player's individual body is put together.  I don't know why you brought that up because that is a clear fault that Ben has that Joe does not.  Joe hasn't missed a start, yet.

Not good enough. Flacco's is still a "deer in the headlights" during them. He's not "fiery enough" man.

Big Ben is a very good QB. But I think injuries might be the end of him in two or three years (Troy Aikman had too many concussions. Ben has had too many injuries). He's not done, rather I think he will retire on his own terms because of them.

Im not saying ben doesn't get hurt a lot...he does, what im saying is that it has not affected his play the following season.....he always starts out great and then due to being the most physical QB in the game gets injured....but he is still in his prime and plays like it when healthy

and if you guys think ben is great then your not the ravens fans im talking about....but you have to admit that for years ben has faced these same arguments against him from everyone especially ravens fans

No, because his mechanics were bad, he made a lot of mental errors, and he didn't trust in his teammates to make the play.

To be honest, he wasn't much of a leader in his first three years. The Qb has to be the leader on the team.

so let me get this straight. Anquan Boldin dropping a TD pass in Pittsburgh and TJ house dropping an easy 4th down conversion is Flaccos fault. Makes sense......

Yeah, Flacco was a "deer in the headlights" remeber?

i don't agree he is nearing the end......people think that because he is always injured but he heals up great.......he has said this year he feels great....no problems at all...and it shows on the field

but people who don't watch him as much think he has to be slowing down due to the injuries but it hasn't shown yet

I don't think Flacco is that great either. The only QBs I think are great are
Rodgers

Of course he has, and for the same reason Joe has.  Brees and Brady faced that type of criticism each of their first five years because of their lack of respective stats.  They each broke out afterwards and continued to play for a championship-caliber team.  Eli and Ben have done the latter, but they have yet to consistently put up the huge stats that would shut up the fantasy nuts, so they're still kind of in the same boat Joe is.  It will be interesting to see which route Joe's career heads over his next five seasons.

I understand that he feels great. But I do think in 3-5 years he will retire on his own terms with the injuries playing a big part in it.

I think the question is when do the injuries catch up. You're right about b Ben not yet slowing down but it is a concern. You guys need a very good backup imo. Someone to groom.

in 5 years maybe.....but that would put him at a 14 year career which is what Bradshaw had

Rodgers, Peyton, Brady are the only three current QBs with both a regular season AND Superbowl MVP, and Brees has the Superbowl and a record setting season that would have been MVP any other season.  I'm curious what would qualify Eli as great over Ben and Joe.  Personally, I think the three of them are in the same class, possibly along with Matt Ryan pending another playoff run or two.

That has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that his teammates f-ed up.

some people speculate that's what Landry Jones is.....but I hope not

IK, but that's one of the actual excuses I've heard in real life about that

Me: If Evans doesn't drop that pass, Flacco goes to and prob wins the SB

Person Im talking to: not true.. Flacco is a deer in the headlights, he didn't throw a good enough pass anyway. He's not a capable starter because of this

Me: WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING?

Agreed. I'm unimpressed by Jones. Wasn't a fan of his last year or this year.

The pass to evans could not have been placed any better. Flacco was in the zone that game.

the reason we drafted him was because his wife is friends with Ben's sister....so we hope he will have loyalty to the Steelers which we value highly

IK. As he has been in the playoffs for awhile.

I'll take a QB with mediocre stats in the regular season who plays like a stud in the playoffs over most of these "elite" regular season QBs.
That's why I don't think Flacco is overrated

I met Big Ben once when he was playing golf in Scotland, does that get me a roster spot?

I've always been a big fan of how Big Ben plays. He's been underrated as well IMO, as much as I hate to admit it.
