Joe Flacco called overrated on NFL.com

297 posts in this topic

No matter what happens, the media continues to crown certain QBs as the best and Flacco is not one of them. People call Flacco overrated when he is not simply because of jealousy. It's not everyday that you have a Super Bowl MVP QB.

To be fair, Flacco is no Peyton Manning.

Flacco can actually win in the post season.

Love it!! Heck, even Tebow can win in the playoffs... that's more than the Broncos got from a certain Qb called Peyton last year...

Flacco could win 3 back to back to back Super Bowls, and win the Super Bowl MVP all three times, and he would still be considered overrated and just on the "cusp" of joining the "elite"... what a joke the media is anymore.

Who cares.

Let me guess, they think Matt Ryan is border line underrated? These knuckleheads are all about winning their high stakes fantasy league

What else is new? Until Flacco excels at fantasy football, people will view him as lesser. Roethlisberger used to get the same thing.

This is true. Tell him to throw more TDs so my fantasy team will be better :P

The List is stupid and created to stir up controversy. Matt Ryan is 2 spots ahead of Flacco, does that make sense? No! However, I'll let him have those spots because when people ask me, I say my QB is a Super Bowl Champion MVP and that's all that matters!

Well Flacco rides the back of an elite Defense and run game, duh! It's obvious that if the defense were to be overcome with injuries and have a down year, and rice were to have one of his least productive seasons to date, that Flacco wouldn't be able to accomplish anything.

.....oh wait.

Sounds about right. Yeah.

I think Flacco should be higher but everyone should have expected this lol.

My biggest problem is that RG3 is the most overrated player on the entire list. He's a good player but I can't at putting him this high. I honestly wonder if this is a fix and Dan Snyder voted him this high or something.

I think it's really funny that they mention this because the whole list is based off of player's opinions, you know, the ones that are actually on the field with them.  The players make these rankings based on the guys that they think are hardest to face.  I can guarantee that they don't look at the stats, and I don't blame them.  These guys have to spend crazy amounts of time game planning around guys like Flacco, Reed, and RG3.  The stats don't show the preparation and respect that is given to the opponents.  These "analysts" are evaluating this list based off of fantasy numbers.  We all know they don't tell the full story.

I actually agree with their list for the most part.  There are a few guys that I think may be placed higher or lower than where they should be, but nothing to the extreme.  I'd much more inclined to trust the player's opinions over guys who only care about how many yards or scores these guys put up.  The players realize that this list is about wins, not pretty stats.

Exactly, he doesnt put up the numbers that nobody who cares about winning, cares about. I dont care if he throws for 500yds a game. Not worth much if we lose those games. Its appaling that NFL analysts would imply that Fantasy Football numbers would determine a players ranking. Pretty sad

Was gonna say something similar, it was obvious from very early in his career when he demonstrated his low key demeanor that the collective media had already made up their mind as him being an average at best QB so nothing will change their stubborn minds now (see my next point with Matt Ryan being a media golden boy especially now that he finally got his FIRST playoff win 5 years in the league). I also love how when you tab over to Matt Ryan who is 2 spots ahead of Joe on the list and people on the internet have him "underrated" while "fans" have Joe "overrated."

Whatever, our overrated, average QB is the reigning Super Bowl MVP and is going to make all these sycophants along with what everyone else says (other than our fans) eat crow this year, a big helping of raven-sized crow.

This guy has one good season and he's a saint. And the RGIII thing just sounds so dumb. Maybe we should just call Flacco JF1, and act all shocked when somebody doesn't know who we're talking about. lol

why should we care so much what some stubborn analysts say?  we're super bowl champs because of flacco.  they obviously don't know anything, so why get so upset with it?  they're not worth our time.  i guarantee flacco couldn't care less about what analysts say.  he's laughing all the way to the bank.

Until Flacco puts up FANTASY FOOTBALL numbers...he will never be considered a true elite QB and given his respect....

..and unfortunately he may never post those numbers in a Ravens offense, never say never though

Im a ravens fan and even I know he is overrated. QBs don't win SBs, teams win SBs. The Ravens were a balanced team last year. I acknowledge that the defense took a step down last year and Joe Flacco stepped up, but they won their games as team. There were 13 QBs who threw more yards, there were some who threw 4000, even 5000. Maybe another 13 who threw more TDs, at least 5 of which had like 30 tds or more. His passer rating was average at 87, 20 QBs had better ratings. and a number of those guys had completion %s in the upper 60s. Flacco had a 59.7. I realize post season wins are big, but lets get real. A guy like Drew Brees on the Ravens would be winning the SB every year. Im not saying Flacco sucks, hes definitely good. Hes a franchise QB. But his highest paid player contract and super bowl MVP should've been more than enough to satisfy any Flacco fanboy. If the majority of PEOPLE think he is overrated (which include Ravens fans such as myself), then its probably true.

More so than other years... Joe won the Superbowl.  Really it was just QB play and good Oline play.  Even if he's inconsistent, he can still get you to the playoffs and then outplay everyone else.  Which is sort of all that matters.  He also had to play with Cam Cameron, and making the playoffs with cam cameron as your offensive coordinator is a pretty big accomplishment in and of itself.

Joe will always be considered overrated even if he wins 2-3 more Super Bowls . Why? Because he's a athlete who plays for a Baltimore team. And of course the dummies out there will say its the defense who won them , even if our defense is ranked in the bottom 5!
