Draft a Franchise: Discussion Thread part 2!

Made the pick. Whoever is next is on the clock. I chose Cook because I like what I've seen from him on the field. I think he has room to grow and we'll see how he does this year. He matched up well with Megatron. Arnie doesn't have any CB so I felt like this was a big problem.

It was between him and another player but I didn't like that the player has played mostly against questionable competition so that made the choice for me. I might take him if he makes it back.

Nice choice, I was just looking at cook. I don't know about all of his off field issues. I have been mostly stating away from players I wouldn't want to root for on a personal level. The kid has alot of potential to be a shut down corner on the field.

Interesting pick with Trufant but CB is thin

I wanted to grab trufant with my next pick, robbed again. I like him better than any other rookie corner especially milliner.

There might be slightly better players, but I want to run a scheme heavy on press-man so he was by far my best option. He has fantastic speed and good hips, along with the size and strength to play press-man. I also have a strong pass rush, a solid #1 CB in Leon Hall and a very good coverage FS in Reggie Nelson, so he should be in an ideal situation.

I like the Peko pick.  He is underrated since he plays next to Geno Atkins.

Crush why are you doing this to me? Why? Really wanted Quinn

I just get a kick out of making people upset  :D

Ok
is coach Fisher praising Jared Cook or Jake Long
This is on the topic of leadership that is
I didn't here anything about Glover Quinn or Ed Reed acting as a leader thus far

Quin also signed for $17.75 million less.  And, on the topic of praising, see here.

If anyone that is coming up wants to send me their pick I can make it fairly early tomorrow, I am sure Horus won't be picking until early am us time.

I would pick for Horus but I'm not sure if he's still taking the guy we discussed and I don't want to step on his toes there.

For my next 3 picks, I have seven players in mind that I would really love to get. I'd be happy to get two of the seven though.

Slightly off topic here, but Torrey Smith just went off on New England fans on Twitter.

It's genuinely one of the greatest things I've seen on the internet.

Didn't get a chance to echo the positive remarks, but fantastic pick Ed Reed. I like Penn a lot and I'm quite frankly surprised he lasted this long over some lesser talent, IMO. I would have taken him before Sam Baker, for example, among others. Penn is a proven player and I like what I have seen from him.

I chose Cook ultimately because I like what he can do when he's healthy & out of trouble. He's in a contract year and the Vikings did get rid of their star CB, who played very well but he's 35-yo, lol. I have no idea when those wheels fall off and at 35 that's a huge concern.

I was very impressed with what I saw from Cook on the field. I try to consider all things when choosing players, because injuries & jail time mean the player's talent is irrelevant. In Cook's case, I felt like the risk was outweighed by the talent. I don't think the risk is as high as it was before, and it would appear that Cook is past that at face value.

He has eliminated Calvin Johnson as well as any CB I've ever seen, and that's something. He's a big and physical nasty CB and I like that about him. He tends to play it safe and doesn't go for plays, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Besides, I have ideas on that front.

I saw it too. Love him even more for that!

Is SteelersProphet around? Clutch, Horus & I were discussing players and we believe we know Horus' pick and are prepared to make it for him because of earlier discussions.

Pick is in. Selected an underrated, young, and very promising RT to complete the bookends with Long & Howard. This move clearly moves Reiff to guard, where he will probably be an even more effective player than before.
