Stupid Comments Around The League

164 posts in this topic

I'll give him a pass. There's plenty guys that don't know how the league sets the schedule, clearly there are guys that don't know who's in what division (after watching HardKnocks Miami), plenty guys that don't watch all the games cause they didn't grow up with cable TV to give them the exposure, plenty guys that only got a chance because they were fast and athletic, tons of other reasons. The fact that pop culture has a bunch of dumb jargon doesn't help

I wonder what Greg Jennings will have to say after he embarks on the Christian Ponder experience?

Is anyone more unlikable than Jim Harbaugh?

Should James Harrison be allowed outside and around people?

Is there anything more boring than a thread recapping fantasy football mock draft results?

Do Andrew Luck and Sam Bradford have the same barber, and do both look like they're a few cards short of a full deck?

I don't care what he says to the contrary, Ed Reed bilked Houston out of millions.

Good judgement by Young, way to go big guy

Now that I think about it, it may not be a big deal if he's making the team. Jim Schwartz is not a disciplinarian. I think a lot of the bafoonery you see out of Detroit probably has something to do with the boundaries that he's not setting.

Of course it's a big deal though when your franchise is consistently at the bottom fo the barrell and you're jawing it up with a guy who consistently leads his team to the playoffs

It shows in all their after-the-whistle penalties and off-the-field shenanigans (Titus Young, anyone?)  Teams with lax discipline consistently do poorly:  OAK, DET, CIN...

I actually thought that was pretty darn hilarious... its just preseason, the penalties don't count towards anything significant just yet. I'm sure if it was a big game, he wouldn't have done that.

Thuggery by the Lions. But I can't be surprised, it's not like it's anything new and he only got a slap on the butt by Schwartz when he came to the sideline

Why is it so stupid exactly?  How damn soft do you have to be to call that taunting?  If he hadn't gotten flagged, the announcers wouldn't have said anything, but because he did, they went crazy.  And the worst part, Brady looks to the ref for a flag.

You grab a guys jersey after an incompletion and point your finger in his face and run your mouth. You could have elected to talk whatever talk from a distance but instead you got in his face like he just clipped you or gouged your eye...Lord knows what he was telling him. Old skool rapper beef like?

Meanwhile, the offense would have been flagged with a penalty for intentional grounding but instead you erase them being backed up by letting them move up 15 yards. If it were Richard Sherman, he would have waited until after the game to go run his mouth when no refs would have had a chance to throw a flag at him

He grabbed him after the ball was thrown, sure, but he held him upright.  Then he said who knows what, like you said, but if you don't know, how can you assume it's taunting?  To me, it's no different from guys talking trash to one another in between plays, which never gets called and never should unless punches, swings, shoves or kicks break out.

This is football.  It's supposed to be chippy like this.  It would've gone over the line had he attacked Brady, especially in preseason, but that didn't happen.

The guy is a complete no name and he went after the great Tom Brady.

I had looked him up earlier thinking he might be a rookie. Turns out it's his 4th season.

And I think he plays the same position as Ziggy Ansah

WOW, that IS dumb.

You cant do that to ANY QB, ESPECIALLY princess Brady.

Not all QBs. Remember the late hit on Flacco by Sopoaga in the SB? That was obviously unnecessary roughness and offense could've gotten a 1st a goal with that instead of having to settle for a FG.

Man, I can't even imagine what Harbs would have done to Young in that situation. That would be a bloodbath.

Jeff Darlington: Matt Ryan, QB, Atlanta Falcons. Having finally won his first playoff game, Ryan is ready to put his career back on a Hall of Fame track. He has the weapons. He has the skills. And now, he'll have a season to remember.

Another quick exit from the playoffs where he cries on Gonzalez's shoulders and begs him to stay another season.

Wait a minute. Hall of Fame track?

Am I right in pointing out that there are only 23 Modern Era QBs in the Pro Football Hall of Fame? Modern era meaning - dates back to 1957. In this current era, there are 7 QBs that have a Super Bowl that he does not - all of whom which have some claim to fame (Flacco's specifically being that he's won a playoff game in his first 5 seasons and has most playoff road wins). Of course that could all change if he did happen to win this season, but if it didn't - he'd be in a long line of current era QBs who have balled out during the regular season and not won. There are QBs with Super Bowls as well who aren't there so how would he be justified over the others. To this point in his career, he hasn't done anything to make himself stand out in history

He has the same number of playoff wins as Romo.  Nuff said.

Flacco doesn't yet belong in the Hall of Fame and neither does Ryan. Not yet. Perhaps they meant Atlanta HoF? Lol. I don't know.

I think it's kind of bold to say Matt Ryan is on his way to the HOF.

:P

Could we stop using Bold Font?  :eyes:

That's fine. I don't think so either. What I was saying is that if anything, Flacco and all the other Super Bowl champs would likely deserve it more than Ryan at this point. In other words, if Rodgers, Brees, Roeth, Brady, Manning, Manning, Flacco, and Ryan all retire at the same time...and then Rivers and Romo retired, there would a 6 yr lag for Manning and Brady, then a 7th year for Roeth and the other Manning, then an 8th year for Rodgers and Brees. That of course is assuming that 2 QBs per this era enters every year for 3 consec years. But we also know that that wouldn't be likely

But you are right - they must have been talking about the franchise HOF

Yeah, I was less arguing you and more adding into your argument, lol. My bad. Flacco have earned it yet. Not even close. By that standard, neither has Ryan.
