Stupid Comments Around The League

164 posts in this topic

I didn't want to open a thread solely about Bernard Pollard. I didn't see this story really warranting its own thread. I didn't want to post this in a Bernard Pollard thread in Ravenstalk. I figured a thread about stupid comments around the league would be appropriate.

Now I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night but this comment doesn't seem too smart when you have Gregg Williams on the defensive coaching staff.

Lol that's great. You go Bernard, make Gregg Williams proud

Recent comments by Rex Ryan, Brandon Browner, etc also fall into this title, I'll link them tomorrow if I get a chance

He likes having Sanchez behind him.

Those Pollard comments are fine by me. I think attaching them to bounties is taking them way out of context.

When Gregg Williams is on the coaching staff it can be embarrassing.

My guess is that he wants to get the #1 pick for whoever is the best next year.

Rex Ryan - LINK

"I'm a hell of a lot better football coach than I'm given credit for," Ryan told Newsday Thursday following the conclusion of the team's minicamp.

"I don't care," he added, smiling. "I don't need the credit. But I can tell you one thing, when it's said and done, they'll look back and say, 'Oh man, this dude can coach his butt off.' And you know what? It's true. And I'll let the people that know best talk on my behalf about the kind of coach I am. I don't have to brag, even though statistically, I can brag about anything I've ever done defensively."

Rex Ryan gone from aggressive to passive-aggressive whining. Is it just me or is his quote so zany and unfocused that he either lost control of his brain momentarily or can finally see the writing on the wall.

I don't get any respect, I don't need any respect, I'm a beast, people say I'm a beast, I don't have to brag about it, let me brag about it...

The best part about this statement? He doesn't even have to back it up! It's a pre-made excuse!

Jets suck? Well, not my fault - I'm a good coach, remember? I told you so.

This should be Rex Ryan's last year as Jets coach.

Brandon Browner - LINK

"At the end of the day we gotta win football games," Browner said Friday on KJR-AM, via the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "He's a coach. He's never gonna be out there lined up against me. I wish he would; I'd put my hands around his neck. At the end of the day, I'm about winning football games."

For those of you who don't know, Jim Harbaugh made some comment about being concerned over the fact that a littany of Seahawks players have tested positive for banned substances recently. He said that it's fishy and he would never do it because he wants his accomplishments to be above reproach (similar to what John Harbaugh said last summer - remember when he referenced Spygate and all the Patriot-lovers lost their minds).

Pete Carroll responded in a weaselly, politically correct manner but one of his starting cornerbacks wasn't so eloquent. His response: 'I'ma gunna kick ur butt'. Bravo, Browner, best way to combat allegations of PEDs is to show some 'roid rage. Let it out now, drug testing must start soon.

Lol. I'm so happy we chose John over him.

Yeah I remember this. This was so stupid. Such a dumb thing to say. Who does that? I mean that's ridiculously foolish. Browner must be roiding for him to say that.

Does this one count too?

Warren Sapp hatin' on Michael Strahan saying Simeon Rice was a better pass rusher. I mean, know disrespect to Simeon Rice, but how many fans respond to the name Simeon Rice by saying - 'oh yeah...I forgot all about that dude...'

Definitely counts.
I used to like what he had to say a few years back, but now I think all he does is open his mouth for attention. Just saying something out of the blue like that, really?

He doesn't like Strahan for some reason and chooses to hype up a teammate that finished his career with the New York Sentinnels

Like I said, no disrespect to him. His numbers speak for themself. But why initiate the haterade? Sapp needs a little more professionalism. He seems to say everything these days with the just because I can/want to attitude. Where is it going? What's the meaning of it?

So I've ran into my share of them. But to call the US a nation of bigots, especially when what you are advocating for something in which we are seeing a whole lot of progressive change that we probably didn't expect we'd see.

Politics is an ugly enough thing to begin with and everything that is done in politics is for the purpose of wielding power and controlling perception. That's probably what he should have said, but instead everybody has to feel his verbal wrath...
