New stadium?

152 posts in this topic

Ok so in the grand scheme of things, its isnt going to happen anytime soon. Were are renovating the one we have. The bank is here for a while.

But Atlanta is getting a brand new stadium after the georgia dome opened only in 1992.

So this got me thinking. The bank opened in 96-97.. If the falcons are getting a staidum that is just 20 years old, how much longer until we get a fancy, state of the art building to play and host our many banners in?

Yes, I know this is kind of a stupid question, just because of how great M and T is... But why not ask it..

Furthermore, if you guys had control and could add any feature to M and T that you wanted, what would it be?

Personally I really liek the idea of having full blown resturaunts and a bigger complex around the stadium.. kinda like the way foxboro is set up..

I think it would be really interesting to expand M and T outward..

anyway, opinions anyone?

gotta love the offseason

Expand Outward? What you gonna do build a deck that connects it to Camden Yards?

haha i can understand how the thought can sound dumb.. but it WOULD be kinda cool to incorporate the two stadiums together more and create one giant baltimore sports complex..

I wonder if heated seats for the non cheap rows is too much to ask for? I mean, those pit games late in the year would be much nicer if my butt wasn't flash frozen to my seat!!

I would love a new stadium that we would not have to share with the orioles and we could make it like seattle's stadium except bigger to accomadate 90,000 plus but what would we call the new stadium

I'd like upgrades but I'm not sure I want a new stadium yet. It would be nice because with more seats we could host a big game. We also need better parking so I'd like to see some improvements there. I wouldn't mind a retractable roof. I say that because it gives us the choice to use it or not. We don't have to use it. The roof would give us more options.

The biggest problem is every addition costs money and we ultimately pay. If we get a new stadium whether funded privately or publicly is irrelevant in the grand scheme.

If we're adding stuff I would want more seats. Heated seats sound good. I like the idea of restaurant expansion in the park. I also would like more historical stuff in the stadium. A Ravens museum would be neat.

It all costs money. The question is are you okay with funding?

I love "the Bank".  I doubt we get a new one for a while.  The stadium is still a lot nicer than most stadiums in the NFL.  A Denver fan told me that our stadium is a lot nicer than Mile High and that opened in 2001.  I'm thrilled with our stadium.  Also, a new stadium means higher ticket prices and they are astronomical as is.

They are upgrading the stadium, pumping $35M in a few projects over the next couple of years

I don't think any new building is coming any time soon. The Georgia Dome is junk, it was when it was built.

2 reasons why we are getting a new stadium

1. Our team doesnt own our stadium there for our Owner is losing alot of revenue

2. For us to continue to host NCAA tourny games, FIfi games, and a possible SB... They said our stadium wasnt up to par.

berad is right... The Dome is not good..lol... Cant lie

What do you think of the new potential Stadium.. Im sure you have seen the pics

More seats and a roof is really the only two I would want. I would say to honor Ogden going into the HOF we increase the stadium seating to 75,000. A roof is good but only if it is retractable, we can close it during the early part of the season when it is still warm but leave it open in the cold months and playoffs.

Well... there's nothing in Foxboro, which is why they built an entire town center next to Gillette Stadium, while The Bank is surrounded by buildings, residential areas, and another stadium.

I guess that could work if they relocated everything next to the Castle in Owings Mills, but I really like taking Exit 52 when I go there.

The next stadium would be more Wi-Fi/interactive capable I'm sure. As for M&T,if they could somehow figure out to cram more johns into the men's room, I'd be happy. As it is now, you need a restroom strategy before you go in.

It's not Atlanta's fault, either. It seems almost all dome stadiums that weren't built in the past ~10 years are all crappy. For some reason they don't have that staying power and get torn down or, are otherwise outdated.

Metrodome, RCA Dome, Superdome (TERRIBLE), Kingdome, Edward Jones Dome, etc

We are showing the league that you can improve your current stadium without the need to build a brand new stadium. I can not wait to see the new concourse when I come up for the Thanksgiving Game.

I love how they are incorporating the Camden Yards style bricks into the stadium!  My biggest gripe with M&T Bank is that it's just a concrete jungle, like the Nats' stadium.  It needs character!  They should line all of the columns and most of the lower walls around the shops/restrooms with bricks, then pave the floor with some sort of cobblestone or large slate.

Thats why im glad we are getting a new stadium... The team wanted an open air stadium but the fans wanted a dome.... So to meet in the middle we are getting an retractable stadium.

Another thing... I dont get why some act like the super dome is a good stadium.. Yo.. It looks terrible but yo they still get to host Super Bowls

Also with the Ravens and the stadium authority assuming the cost, a new stadium looks pretty distant at this point

You can't build a new stadium, at least not until I'm able to come out to Baltimore for a home game lol
