Its not really that different. Fantasy basketball encompasses pretty much every statistical measure and unlike football stats directly lead to points/wins in the NBA. There are other aspects for sure like defense, but its really not that big of a difference especially considering this is just a draft and all we can look at are stats.

i agree, basketball is more "moneyball orientated" than football; stats will pretty much decide on where the players are drafted, with the personal likeness for a specific player just as the outside the norm

I disagree given how the playoff teams are

West

OKC - 2 superstar

Spurs - 2-3 superstars and a very strong supporting cast

Clippers - At least 1 super star and a very very strong supporting cast

Nuggets - No superstars

Golden State - 1 superstar and another very strong supporting cast

Memphis - I guess you can say no superstars but Gasol is a DPOY and Randolph is great in the post and together they are monsters on the boards

Houston - 1 superstar

Lakers - 2 super stars

East

Miami - LOL

Knicks - Melo Amare Chandler

Pacers - Hibbert and Paul George

Boston - Rondo

Nets - D will Lopez JJ

Bulls - Rose, Noah

Hawks - No one surprisingly strong supporting case tho if you dont want to count cetain players as SS. Really needed better guard play

Bucks - Jennings Ellis. Another team with a stronger supporting cast and a couple of possible break out players

All in all the trend still suggest you need 2 superstars or at least 1 with an extremely strong supporting cast to be a contender.

No crap I'd be insane not too. How is that a counter-argument? Thats like saying if MIchael Jordan is on the draft board in his prime would you pass on him? Completely irrelevant to the case which is that whichever team gets him has an inherent advantage that would be extremely hard for other people to make up and that whichever team takes him has a much larger margin for error.

My whole reason for wanting LeBron banned though is that he takes away from the skill in team building because he literally is an answer for everything. Your point guard sucks. No its okay dude I got LeBron. You have no size. No its okay dude I got Lebron.

Ok, so I want a million dollars. I deserve it because I am a hard worker who is going through college right now, while someone can be given that much money just from being born into royalty. Oh wait, I can't have it?? Oh well, time to move on and deal with it, I guess. Instead of complaining about something thats not changing anytime soon, I must find ways to work around it and make something of it. I should not waste time complaining about it, because that does not help my case one bit.

So you are basically arguing against yourself here. There is no way that anyone can pair Lebron with another superstar, or even a star player for that matter. He's already proven he can't carry a team by himself.

Again another hyperbolic example that has nothing to do with or even attempts to counter my point. Let me counter with one of my own.

Which is more fair? Your scenario or one where person x and person y are born into the same family with the same resources and one succeeds because he put in more work and was more skillful than the other?

Obv scenario 2 is more fair and ideally it would be the one anyone would choose.

However you will counter with that doesn't happen irl and my counter is guess what this isn't real life so its fine.

See how stupid this gets.

Also Occupy Wall Street would probably disagree with you.

This is a game. This is not real. I suggest something to make the game more interesting and possibly more fun. You've done nothing to refute any of those points.

Look if you want LeBron in and everyone agrees fine. I personally think that whoever takes LeBron will (barring quite a few stupid mistakes) will automatically have the best team because he gets a tremendous head start on everyone else.

Just like in fantasy, teams will "win" or "lose" with their supporting cast. Picks 4-8 are probably the most crucial.

No not really. Thats more of a comment on the state of the nba and the moneyball theory than anything else.

Also, LeBron cant carry his team and beat 2-3 superstars combined which is what he has had to go through in Cleveland. Celtics, Spurs in 05 etc... He wont have to do that in this mock most likely because no team will likely be able to put 2-3 superstars on one team.

Agreed, but unlike in Cleveland, in this mock it will be very hard to screw those picks up due to

1. No cap restriction

2. No ?'s in talent in evaluation ie we know who is good

Like I said for the team with Lebron not to have the best team it would basically take a horrible owner screwing up picks.

That's a fair point and why I suggested a modified snake draft.

How can you remove a valid player from a fantasy draft? I didn't see any bellyaching when Aaron Rodgers was picked #1

And then record themselves performing the Congo Shuffle.

Good old Mbenga...

Okay vote on the Mbenga

Whoever has LeBron James must use one of their draft picks on DJ Mbenga. They can choose whenever to use the draft pick. If they don't use one of their picks on Mbenga they are disqualified and banned to be included next year. No other user may pick Mbenga.

Pros: It makes the game more fair for everyone

Cons: Mbenga would most likely be a non factor on the team
