There aren't as many options as in the NFL, there are about 6-8 coaches worth taking and the rest are just throw-ins.

Besides according to the roster page 2 or 3 guys have claimed Pops already.

did you mean NBA?

No I meant NFl, in the NFL there are picks for HC, OC, and DC and there is a much larger pool of coaches to pick from and more schemes as well.

There aren't as many options in the NBA, it's pretty much the big name guys and then you are just throwing darts at names.

Now that we're done drafting and I can mention players by name, I'm very surprised that Elton Brand went untouched, even at his age.

I'm surprised by the infatuation on europlayers. Not alot of Dirks, Ginos and Pejas really make it.

Players that I'm surprised are still there are Brand, Frye, Jordan Hamilton, Alonzo Gee, Etwaun Moore, Deshawn Stevenson, among others

Rodrique Beaubois comes to mind as a very good undrafted player.

Brand, Frye and Gee were all on my radar, but by the time I got to the last few rounds I decided to go with guys that had big upside. I had my veteran backups and my starters locked in by that point.

Would y'all be interested if I did a power rankings?

Very, I was considering doing a Best/Worst Pick for each round for this and the NFL Draft. I just need to sit down and do it lol

Definitely. Power rankings are the most fun to read

Yeah we should follow up with our rosters after the next NBA season, any player that doesn't play for an NBA team next year doesn't count as a player on your roster. Some of those rosters could be pretty barren with the amount of guys that don't count.

:p  Surprised Muscala and Roberseon didn't get picked.  Both promising young players.

Good point. Then again, I did select one myself in Dennis Schröder. But to my credit, he's been looking impressive in Summer League action.

I actually forgot all about Frye and Gee. Good call.

I really like Dennis from what I've read about him. But I haven't actually seen him play, so I can't judge, and it's premature anyways. But Dennis is one of the few I would've picked actually. Maybe the only one to be honest. Nothing wrong with rolling the dice on a euro but I'm just surprised by how many that were taken and how high they actually went. Lots of risky picks imo, when people could've gotten high upside players that have actually proved that they belong in the NBA.

I certainly share your sentiment about drafting the ones who are proven contributors on this side of the pond. Awesome. I'm glad to hear that. I've tuned into every Hawks game just to watch him. I'm pretty adamant in following through on my favorite prospects, you could say. If you have about ten minutes, there is some footage of his highlights made available. Here are the links (Link, link and link). Schröder's definitely not a finished product. Though his shot selection was solid, he struggled with his shot until their last game. He also needs to add bulk and be a more effective finisher at the rim, the same problem he had at times when playing in the men's league back in Germany. That being said, Schröder's a natural pass-first PG. He's very poised, plays with patience, is a terrific distributor, and aside from his first game, was routinely in contention for being the best defender on the court. He borrowed Patrick Beverley's tagline of, "Mr. 94 Feet." I believe that he could be a starting PG a year or two from now. Hope my assessment helps.

Yes, that's what I've gathered from reading about him and watching some highlights. I just find it really difficult to evaluate players by watching highlights instead of games. Especially against european competition. But if he can be like Bradley, Beverley etc. And bring that aggressiveness and intensity on the defensive end while improving on the offensive side of the ball that would be great. That's why I would've been interested in picking him if he had lasted longer. I look forward to watching him this coming season.

That's a solid point. I was able to see the games through their entirety and the negatives I mentioned above are the only ones that jumped out. Definitely agree. Have you been following Trey Burke, by the way? If so, how's he been doing?

Not the power rankings!!!!!

My team is going to be at the bottom :(

lol To be honest, I might be more in favor of rating teams individually instead of incorporating a ranking system. Just my two cents.

Cool. Thanks for the analysis. Like I said, I think he's very intriguing, so I look forward to watching him.

Yes I have, he's my favorite prospect in this draft. And he has struggled mightily in the summer league imo. One of his best assets is his ability to knock down jumpers, and working from the pick and roll. But it looked like he had lost his touch during the summer league. I still think he has the tools, and it's not like he's doomed already. Lol. I'm confident he will find his shot again. But struggling in the summer league, is not a good sign, and dominating is a good sign usually. Much like Thomas Robinson vs Terrence Jones and from what I saw when I watched almost every Rockets game last year. Robinson struggled mightily against summer league competition, and continued to struggle during the season. Jones on the other hand dominated there, in the D-league and looked really good when he got called up. And there's usually some signs during summer league that indicates on how they will perform in the league, at least initially.

No problem. Me too.

I did read a piece about him struggling, but wasn't sure if that was just one man's opinion. I definitely agree regarding your assessment of the Summer League. Once I saw Damian Lillard in action, I sensed right away that he'd be a special player. To the defense of Burke, like you've pointed out, it could be more of an indicator of how much he'd contribute right away. I personally have done no scouting on him whatsoever, so I'll have to take your word for an assessment of his abilities. And given how high you are on him, I'm assuming that his ceiling isn't in question. If it helps, Robinson did fare better in this Summer League than he did in the last. Perhaps Burke will find his way during the Preseason.

Yes.

Robinson is a player I will continue to follow. I was excited when the Rockets traded for him last year, thinking he would be a guy for the future on that very young team. Only to find out that he was only part of a bigger plan, as they thought he would be a better trade bait for the offseason than PPat when clearing cap room to make a play for Howard. His play was really really underwhelming last year. But I still like his potential on the glass and on the defensive end. But I don't think I've ever seen a player that lost on the offensive end. And that's not me exaggerating. He plays really small, as evident by how often his shot is blocked under the rim, seem to have very low awareness or bball IQ, has absolutely no jumper and plays extremely wild whenever he has the ball. I'm really curious by how he turns out in the end. Because he's so fast and has great athleticism. But he needs to settle down and just work on a lot with his game. And being traded two times during his rookie season, I kind of feel bad for the kid. Must be a hard situation. So I really hope it works out for him.
