The Will To Trade

33 posts in this topic

Sorry if this was posted before, but im too lazy to check, just tell me and ill delete the post but...

I think Willis Mcgahee should be traded. Basically unused in every game, willis mcgahee has turned out to be the worst move i think since kyle boller. We already have young running talent in McClain and Rice, Willis is just a dust collector. Im sad to say this because he is one, if not thee most favorite player of mine, but his time is done in Balitmore.

Lemme know what you think, and sorry again if this was posted.

Willis' health hasnt been very well this season and maybe that has come from his lack of activity during off season workouts and practices. He is definitely not done here in Baltimore, Im not fully clear on the stats but I think he was a +1,200yd rusher last season and the only real spark we had in our offense. He needs to get with the program and Cams system. Cam has the ability to utilize his talents further than they were ever used in Buffalo and in Billicks offense. Give it some time. We have given Mark Clayton 5 seasons. This is McGahee's 2nd season. I think he will be fine here. We have many other things to worry about than getting rid of Willis McGahee

Good point but the guy is injury-prone bad knee, bad ribs, chest, ankle...i just think that it was a bad move by the ravens and i wouldnt be surprised to see him get traded within the next three years

Well I say, lets give him one more season to prove his worth. If he can have a great season with over 1200yds again, I think we should keep him

i was never very big on Willis and i thought we traded to much for him when we got him. that being said, we are paying him to much so, unfortunately, we wont be trading him anytime soon.

Harbaugh affirmed that McGahee was healthy after the Bengals game, however, and the six-year veteran’s absence was a strategic decision.

“I don’t know what everybody’s talking about,” Harbaugh stated. “We really like Willis McGahee. We think he’s a really good player, and we plan on Willis being a huge part of what we’re doing in December. He’s been practicing very well. He’s getting stronger and stronger throughout the course of the season.”

McGahee had a great season with us last year - this year he's banged up and fans turn their back on him in a split second. Seriously, all this talk about cutting/trading Willis is making me sick. I'd understand this behaviour from fans if he was like this for 2-3 seasons... but this is just plain silly.

The idea is to have 3 healthy backs while we are going into the final stretch of the season and that is what we have. Harbaugh said all 3 of them can and will be starters, I personally think this is great for us and is going to give us an edge over other teams' rushing attacks (the Steelers, the Cowboys). The only way that this can be construed as bad is if you play fantasy football.

Like alot of people have been saying is that hes using whichever back benefits most against the defense that week. Look at this week against the Bengals, McClain got the bulk and Rice supplemented. I'm sure it could just as easy be Rice or Mcgahee getting the bulk with the others suplementing. Just cause he doesnt play every play or Harbs sits him out for one game to rest him or so cause maybe he is the back Harbs plans on tearing the skins defense up with.

I agree, having 3 heathly backs is whats good for a team. Mcgahee was the light in our season last year. We owe him what? 8 mil still? It would be stupid to trade him. We need to save all the money we can to make sure we can give our LB's the money they need to stay in Baltimore. Our team is starting to come together. I hope Mccalister is still here next year and now considering how well Clayton has stepped up I might change my mind about needing a new WR also.

Funny how there weren't any trade Willis talks because he had a 1,500 yds+ year. But when he does poorly for one season everyone wants to get rid of him.

That's the fan way! What have you done for us lately? This mentality usually spans for the length of two games. So if you haven't performed in two games, you need to be axed out of the picture.

It's funny because when McGahee had a couple good weeks earlier in the year. Everybody was drooling all over him. This example exists for Clayton, Heap, and Flacco this year as well.

i think harbaugh will let him start in the next games and this will be a huge advantage for us cause the defense of the cowboys and of the squeleers are tired and McGahee comes in as a fresh guy cause harbaugh rested him for the last games and just runs away of them for TD

So true man. The Charger fans still love LT. I was so happy when we acquired Willis. I know he has many many great years in him still so we should stop the get rid of Willis talk and focus on talking about playoff possibilities. He's stayin in Baltimore and I believe he will show why he is worth that contract we gave him within the next few weeks, if not, then he will have a new attitude when next season comes and he gets hungry for his starting spot again. He will be fine folks

3 backs is better than 2 or 1! In the NFL you are only 1 play away from the IR list. I say let Willis play out his contract.

he is unused because he is injured. I think we should trade him for a wr. We also could trade t-sizzles for a high profiled wr such as Boldin. Both their contracts end at the end of this year and it would be a big

pick up for us looking for a wr and for the Cardinals because their defense is not very good.

It is does not happen a lot that a player is traded for a player. Most of the time player's are traded for draft picks! Why would a team trade a wr for McGahee? When they can just trade for a draft pick and use it to get another RB.

When has McGahee ever run for 1500+ yards in a season? He went over a 1000 yards last year there is a big difference between 1500 and 1000. He had 1207 rushing yards to be exact. Going over 1000 yards in a season is nothing to pat him on the back about because so many running backs do it. Furthermore this is a what have you done for me lately league and Willis isnt doing to much of anything to earn the 8 million per year this organization is paying him.

As for the poster, have you followed the NFL this year? Do you see how many non- first round rookie RB's are making a huge impact? Good running backs are a dime a dozen now a day's. No GM in their right mind would trade anything for an average at best injury prone RB, like Willis McGahee. His trade value is zero. We'd be lucky to get a 5th round pick for him.

y wouldnt they trade for mcgahee... hopefully the ravens will not play mcgahee as much as we have in the past and he will be healthy at the end of the year. I dont think we are going to be able to get a

high profiled name but we could get a decent wr for mcgahee.

Have you guys ever thought that harbaugh is saving willis for a post-season run?
a secret weapon???

Do you really think we would take a chance of getting willis injured against a piss poor team?

Logic fellas, logic

The Cardinals defense is currently ranked 10th in yards allowed per game...they are also 11th in the league in total sacks.

I was hoping that Clayton's big day Sunday would deter some of this incessant talk about us needing a big name receiver but I guess not...

We wont trade McGahee. He is the best running back on our team. Yes this season hasn't been great for him, but the Ravens staff knows how good he is or else they wouldn't have traded for him. He lacked at conditioning over this off season. Broken rib from last year may have been the reason behind the late conditioning start. Plus his knee surgery set him back. Then he finally gets in to some action and gains some more bumps and bruises. He'll condition much better this off season and will be fully healthy and ready for the start of next year. Plus you got to put into the thought of full back. Lorenzo has only a one year contract, which would mean we would have McClain at full back full time. So that leaves us with McGahee and Rice. No way we trade him. Plus Cam knows how to use a running back like McGahee very well.

I still rock my white McGahee jersey most Sundays, and switch in the black Ray Lewis one every now and then.

Oh.....and McGahee will only cost us $620,000 next year. So we wont be paying him a super large amount of money. His contract is set up so that he gets paid more each year. Meaning we will cut him once and if he becomes worth less then what we are paying him.

I am so sick of hearing this stupid crap. If Willis could produce well enough for us to depend on him in the playoffs he would be playing now, since we have to win NOW before we even think about a post season run. Saving a guy for the post season only works when you have locked up a playoff berth. We have not and we need to use every playmaker we have so we can get there. He's on the bench because he hasnt produced plain and simple.
