The bottom scroller thing (whatever it's called) on NFL says he took antibiotics containing codeine in February.

 

I am not a pharmacist or a pharmacy tech, but I do know a great deal about prescription medications, and I cannot think of a single antibiotic that actually contains codeine. So yeah... NFL reporting fail.

 

Also, how long does it take to get results of a drug test and, if failed, figure out a suspension? Because if this was recent, there's almost no way that cough syrup containing codeine would still be in his system as late as May.

 

It's actually very easy to get codeine.  It's in prescription cough medicine.  You pretty much have to say you have a persistent non productive (hasn't gotten any better) dry cough.  Say it's keeping you up at night and that's how you score the good stuff.  Codeine helps you fall asleep and that's the ticket to get the medicine.

 

From what I know it's rarely prescribed for strep throat.  I've actually heard it makes it worse and I have never been prescribed  codeine for strep and I've had it a few times.  He's just making an excuse to hide his recreational drug use.
