Ik this shouldn't have it's own thread. But Jones was a legend and would be way up there on the all time sack list if they recorded sacks back then.

Never got to see him play, but he was a monster who deserves his own thread...

In my opinion Greer, Jones, Olsen and Lundy was the best defensive line ever...yes including the Steel curtain of the 70's. They were a huge part of some really great Rams teams who never won a championship. RIP Deacon...The master of the head slap.

I wish I would die with natural causes in some days rather than cancer, diseases, or deathly accident.

PFT had an article up on Jones and quoted Jones from an interview he did last year at the Super Bowl in regards to the league's safety rules.

 

He told me he hated the way the NFL had changed the rules of football to make it safer, which he viewed as synonymous with softer.

 

“I’d probably be arrested with this bunch of guys, they’re soft — give me a break: These guys are soft,” Jones said. “I hit the head. I started there. . . . This game ain’t never going to be safe.”
