Cary Williams is already wearing out his welcome in Philadelphia

Cary did play off a lot, but why was that never corrected by Pees? And others were getting beat by the WR's. SO pick your poison.

We couldn't afford to play press man coverage with the way the front 7 was playing w/o Suggs last year. You can't look at things in a vaccum.

Ok so why is Cary being called Sub Par based on that?

Because his performance was sub par.

Not really, but ok.

People in here act like I was upset when he left.  Never once have I said anything like that. The point I am making is how Ravens fans have a need to dog players that left the Ravens on their own, or didn't take less money to stay on a team.  You act like someone owes the Ravens.  You were all the same people crying the blues during the lockout.  Talking about how the Owners and players need to get football started again.  Yet I see more business talk coming from this fanbase, than players or owners combined.

So when a player wants to move on, let them move on.  Why should they be attacked for making a business decision for themselves.  Don't you make business decision statements all the time? I remember people saying that we needed to Trade Torrey. LOL now you love him right?

He was dogged when he was here, too. He was a decent starter but gave up a ton of big plays.

If you're going to hold us accountable for every random statement any Raven fan has made then we'll be here awhile. I've seen people denounce Ray Lewis and want to trade Terrell Suggs. What of it? It doesn't matter.

I've seen people want to trade Rice for Boldin lol

...I got a kick out of that today. Couldn't get in before the lock unfortunately.

Every fan base is whiny, no need to whine about it. ;)

If you look back a few posts you will see why I think carry was unfairly maligned by too many fans here. However he was not worth what the eagles offered him and he seems to be realizing just what type of situation he is in now. I see no reason to bash any player for signing with another team. It is part of the business. I actually haven't seen many comments to that effect in regards to carry.

We didn't even make an attempt to keep him. He played a career year for us and helped us win a championship, just like Krueger, Ellerbe, etc. Personally, I will always be grateful for all these players and their contributions to a title. However, none of them were worth the money they were offered from the teams they signed with. We knew that and held our ground. When these players fail to play up to their contracts, why can't we point that out and have fun with it? Why is there such a need to bring down everyone who has any fun or expresses any joy about anything around here? Let people be happy. We aren't attacking you.

I dunno, I think it depends on the player.  In my view, Cary was a decently skilled cornerback who had an attitude problem and a propensity to give receivers a huge cushion.  I would have taken him back, but not for anywhere near what the Eagles are paying him.

You seem to sum up the views of this many different people on this forum with blanket statements - which doesn't work because so many of us disagree with each other on a daily basis.  I'm sure there are people that wanted Cary back (even at $5+ mil a year), but they aren't really going to hop over and post in a thread about Cary acting up in Philly, are they?

I mean, look at what happened when Reed decided to go to Houston.  Yes, there was some bitterness, but now that that first "shock" has subsided, I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone on the boards hating on Ed's decision.  That is until we play the Texans this year...

Really? Seems other fanbases were all over the internet even since the days of WebTV.  I do like the statement about internet connectivity though....touche!!

Well I don't know for sure, but I do know that there is a whole lot more posting on the internet over the last 5 years. Maybe what you were seeing were fan bases like the Cowboys, Steelers, 9ers and teams that just have a much larger fan base. The Ravens are still growing theirs so maybe it took longer for them to get on the internet. I know personally I did not join until about 2 years ago. I would frequent the Ravens site, but not post.

People hated on Cary just like they hated on Flacco. When the chips were down, they ran their mouth.  Torrey was treated the same way, during his rookie preseason and his first few games.  His actions in the SB fight is what brought the most negative attention to him period.

The only negative on Torrey was that he wasn't a good "tight" route runner in preseason. As for his being busted on in the first few games of his rookie season, I gotta say "huh?" He had 3 TD's in his first 3 receptions, who do you know that was raggin' on him? 'Cause I dont know of anyone!

If I was an Eagle's fan I would like him speaking out about needing to be a tough defense provided that Cary backs up his talk on the field. Unfortunately, he hasn't even played a snap for them yet!

Man, I just take all the statements with a grain of salt. Whether it's bring in Tim Tebow, or Riley Cooper or Aaron Hernandez, or give Ray Rice to San Fran and bring back Q since BP is gonna be so good. No point referencing "Baltimore Fans" cause like you say, they all say crazy out of context stuff

Is that anyone but me having a sense of Harbs was blowing up Cary's ego? he seems to be convinced by himself that he is an elite shutdown CB.  He is just an average system CB, supported by HOF FS in the NFL.  He will be fully exposed in Phillies and I can't wait how many yards on top of TDs he's going to allow in Phillies.

Cary Williams was criticized rather frequently on this Forum during his two years as a starter in Baltimore. I still recall the 20+ page thread formed in 2012 with plenty of arguments against the then-current roster member. In the said seasons, Williams meddled with mediocrity on what were roller coaster performances. We've had 8 active CBs aside from the one in question since 2011. They allowed a combined 223 completions on 398 attempts, 2,544 yards, 10 TDs, 16 INTs and a QBR of 67.0. By himself, Williams surrendered 148 completions on 251 attempts, 1,981 yards, 11 TDs, 6 INTs and a QBR of 88.8 that span. Although a number of his mates didn't see nearly as many snaps, the fact that he was nipping at the heels of nearly the entire CBs corps is less than flattering.

Maddeningly enough, Williams also flashed spurts of the potential to be a capable #1. However, where Williams didn't lack in consistency was in his antics and outbursts. Despite his outputs, he was routinely among the most argumentative players on the field, and his penchant scuffles were even more prevalent in his poorest showings. Couple his overconfidence with the maturity issues that also plagued him in Tennessee, and a seeming inability to accept constructive criticism, from even the wiliest of veterans, as shown in several of the Behind The Bench episodes, and it wasn't a surprise that he wasn't endeared by a significant portion of the fans while with the Ravens. I can only speak for myself, but I was personally elated to see him sign with another team. Philadelphia had the cap space to grant him the salary he desired, and we not only were able to use that money elsewhere, but we also became eligible for a potential future compensatory selection. I'd say that it worked out well for both sides.

I never had a major problem with Cary's play here, every cornerback gets beaten and at least he was always a good tackler as well. I've preached supporting everyone the team deems worthy to be on the roster and while sometimes Cary made me want to pull chunks of my hair out, he was a Raven and had my support.

Now that said, the one thing I never could stand was the guy's attitude. You want your players to be confident in themselves and have the mind set of striving to be the best, but Cary's attitude can be summed up as "punk." I'm still seven months later amazed that he wasn't ejected in the Super Bowl for shoving that ref while getting into a scrum he wasn't even initially part of. This latest incident just further follows the same poor attitude that Cary still carries, the only real reason I never truly liked the guy. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't glad he is no longer the Ravens' headache.

Nobody thinks it had anything to do with a guy called "Riley Cooper"

I'm willing to bet Cary Williams won't be the last DB to get in a fight with him this year. Pretty sure there might be at least one more.

Pretty laughable that someone posted this link. As if Chykie Brown (OF ALL PEOPLE) did NOT get into a fight at practice with Torrey Smith (OF ALL PEOPLE)

I wasn't a fan of him at all. He made plays occasionally...when you had given up on him. Sometimes they actually mattered. Not sure how much so in the Cleveland game, not sure how much so in the AFC Championship game.

If by acknowledging that, I don't belong here in this thread then so be it.
