Cary Williams is already wearing out his welcome in Philadelphia

159 posts in this topic

You're welcome to find another, follow a new team, go to a different forum, etc. I respect your opinion but why do you care? I don't see anyone chastising him any differently than they did when he was here yet ironically you're chastising those of whom you see chastising. That's a lot of chastising.

I don't mind your difference in opinion but I don't know many fans that don't do this. I've read other forums and they do the same like the Texans and Jacoby.

While I'm not personally chastising Williams and like him as a player I find your behavior pretty disrespectful to fans of a team you claim to support.

You chastiser you!

Find another team? I've been a Raven's fan before most of you latched on after 2000.

How did you miss the constant Cary hate when he was on the team? It was ridiculous how much there was.

I agree, if we could only reread those game threads... XD

Yeah for a player who came out of no where and developed into a very nice corner and was then pressed into a number one corner role and forced to play outside of his strengths as a player due to the whole defense playing poorly he was unfairly overly judged in his time here. Don't know how anyone could have missed that. Now Philly vastly overpaid him and he is seeing why now with an all around poor Philly d.

People hated on Cary just like they hated on Flacco. When the chips were down, they ran their mouth.  Torrey was treated the same way, during his rookie preseason and his first few games.  His actions in the SB fight is what brought the most negative attention to him period.

So someone can tell me I am disrespectful to the fanbase, but I can't use the word clowns? I see this is just another biased forum.

Funny though, where were you guys online during the early 2000's?  I don't remember the AOL, YahooGroups, and YahooChat Ravens groups ever being filled like FB and on here.  Most of you people weren't even on MYSPACE prior to Flacco's 2nd season. Now all of sudden you are everywhere? LOL it's funny to me.

Seriously? I'd bet 3/4 of the posters here are running to ask their parents what all that means, lol. Of course its biased, its a FAN forum. My advice would be to just chill. People like to argue here. No sense in pounding your chest with your Internet chatting timeline.

Does that somehow lessen the extent of their fandom?

I thought the fact that he was a sub par starting corner was what brought him negative attention...

Who's pounding their chest?  You don't like rebuttal? That's too bad.

Sub par? Did you watch the whole season?  For the way our secondary and the whole defense played for that matter, he was pretty decent for the Ravens during the playoffs.  He did his job.

Did I say that? I just asked why they were M.I.A.  And now they flood the internet like a broadcast Storm from a router.

Ok. I was just pointing out how pointless it is to blather on about who you are and where you've been and the things you've seen. No one cares. I'm not hating on you, I'm just saying. No friendly fire.

For being a 7th round pick Cary Williams has been successful.  He is a good #2 CB but he isn't a #1 guy.  Last year he 1431 snaps and graded at -3.2 according to PFF.  He was very inconsistent as you can see here.  He was the 7th most inconsistent CB in the league with his best 4 games be combined +10 and his worst 4 a combined -14.1.  He allowed 935 yards in coverage last year which was 4th worst in the NFL, and added 6 TDs.

This came while trying to be the number 1 CB for the Ravens.  Yes, he didn't move around to follow the best WRs but he was still considered the CB1 once Webb went down.

Cary is just an average CB who has done well for a 7th round pick.  With the Eagles though, he will struggle for a few reasons.  He will again be the CB1.  Brandon Boykin is their best CB but he is more of a slot guy so he won't be taking on most of the top WRs.  Also, Cary doesn't have the best attitude, as shown by this thread.  He already has his SB ring and has now gotten paid. He isn't worth $5.66 million a year which the Eagles are paying him.  Plus the $10.5 million guaranteed is too much as well.

Yes I did. He was sub par. If his job was to give up more yards than almost every other corner in the NFL then I agree. He's a perfectly capable no.3 corner IMO but he shouldn't be a 1 or 2. He's just no where near good enough.

Yes and he was sub par. If you call doing his job giving up more yards then nearly any other corner in the NFL I agree. He did play better in the playoffs but he still wasn't a good starter. Average at best. He is a perfectly capable no.3 who can man a starter role in the case of an injury but he doesn't belong as a starter IMO. He's just not good enough. For a 7th round pick though he was great.

Try checking the dates that people signed up, I know many people have been here since the early days of the forum here.

Where have you been?

Back on topic: Cary had also been a guy who was a solid No. 2, but he doesn't have a consistency to be the No. 1 WR. I appreciate his work ethic to go from a 7th round pick to a starter, but his idea of coverage was to give his man a 15 yard cushion because he didn't have the speed to run with them. It was just underneath routes all day and there was nothing he could do to stop them.

Dude there was a ton of Cary hate here. Even when the guy did something well like a interception, the first thing people would start off posting was "I don't like Cary but..." He was not a very popular starter around here. I never minded him, but never thought of him as a number 1 nor worth the money to keep him around as a number two with the guys we have on the team. Guy also came off as a punk on the field who was incapable of controlling his emotions. I did not mind seeing him go up to Philly. He was a great pick off the Titans practice squad, but now he's gone.

No his inconsistent play is what got him the negative attention. The fight and attitude on the field just fueled peoples fire. I was never a Cary hater, but I didn't really like him either. For what he is, he performed pretty well last year given the circumstances and I am glad to see him get paid. However, I am glad to see he didn't get paid by the Ravens.

Maybe because the trend of internet connectivity in the US and around the world has gone up exponentially since 2000, and even 2007. That is the trend of all fan bases of all Sports.

Really? Seems other fanbases were all over the internet even since the days of WebTV.  I do like the statement about internet connectivity though....touche!!

I've had 2 accounts on this site.  I was on here when it first popped up on WEBTV, and allowed people to post. I was using an AKO email. I no longer have that email.  I have had this account for a few years.  I lost my password and didn't really post on here, cause I always just used Myspace, then Facebook forums.  Good try in trying to reverse things on me. That is the usual tactic these days.

So no friendly fire, means I have to agree with the masses? Sorry this isn't highschool.  I will not ever agree with many other Ravens fans, nor will I always agree with the Ravens front office, regardless of the decisions they make.  Just like I stand my ground on how I felt about the Boldin trade.  Funny how fans tell others to move on about that, but you're in here talking about Cary Williams.
