Ravens Vs. Redskins

81 posts in this topic

A few weeks ago I thought this game would be a lot tougher than I do now. The gameplan seems to fit right into our hands. Stop Portis - Stop the Redskins.

Here are the keys I've noticed:

1) Stop Portis, he is their lifeline.
2) Redskins can't get any sort of pass-rush going. This should give us plenty of time to run deeper routes and possibly exploit Deangelo Hall (he has replaced Shawn Springs as starter apparently).
3) Cover 2 on Santana Moss. Malcom Kelly and Randel El aren't making plays. Their passing O has been horrific since teams have concentrated on shutting down Moss.

How great is it to hear: stop the run and you'll have plenty of time in the pocket. It's like a match made in heaven. Also include this being a home-game and we have to be favorites in this one.

I can't wait to watch this game!

I think our chances just went up significantly.

Didnt Clinton Portis get injured during the game with the Giants?

Plus them coming off a very physical game will leave quite a lot of their players sore and hurt.

This game will go our way thanks to the help of the Giants.

He is currently dealing with a neck strain. We all know how iffy those are. Since Reed has been dealing with that injury as well.

The Redskins also announced today that LB Marcus Washington has already been ruled out for the game agains us. So their linebacker core is going to be depleted.

I agree with everyone as well. We should win this game, Washington relies on Portis to much. I think if we can stop Portis we can win big.

This game seems to really be going our way.

Lets all hope it does that Sunday Night.

I hope LeRon McClain breaks 100 yards.

Especially with their LBs being really thin.

This is one game ive been looking forward to all year. Time to put the foreskin fans in their place.

I like the match up of our running game against their defense, they look banged up right now. It also looks like Clinton Portis is hurt too.

Washington shouldn't be a problem for the Ravens. We should easily beat the up and down the field. The one thing that might worry me is that the Ravens have not won a prime time game in a long time. But there are a lot of trends that the Ravens are breaking this year. It has to do with the Coaching style of Harbaugh and he doesn't allow the team to look past the week in hand.

We can put the Redskins' fans out of their misery just like we did the Eagles. Redskins fans are worrying too much about whether or not they are going to make the playoffs. But don't worry, we'll help put an end to their worrying (hopefully).

I've watched the Skins a long time, but have just started watching the Ravens this year because they were smart enough to draft Joe. (Watched him for 2 years at UD) The Redskins aren't bad but they play with no fire. The Ravens come out and knock people off the line and it is fun to watch. My prediction is the Ravens 28 to 3

This game means just as much to me as when we face the Steelers. We haven't faced the Skins in a regular season game since October 26th, 1997 BAL 20 @ WAS 17. We've been waiting 11 years to play them again. Now we will determine which city has the better team (we already know who has the better fans). We will settle this once and for all, D.C., and after it's all over we will see who has the better team.

I've noticed even Redskins fan's are nervous about this weeks match-up.

I think so too, Portis is a GREAT RB no doubt. But he's no Brandon Jacobs and I'm 100% positive our Defense can limit him. Once agian I say step up the pass rush. If we can do that we can EASILY win this game. BUT I know that the Redskins will give us a fight. Just because they lost this past week to the Giants and they pretty much have to win this week if they have ANY slim hopes of making the playoffs. They would need 2 of these 4 teams to lose in order to make it tampa, dallas, atlanta and carolina. All of which are on a pretty hot streak right now. and I dont think the redskins can win the rest of the teams in their remaining scheduele.

The thing I can say I am most happy about the season is our ability to come out and play better and better every week, as other teams in the NFL have decreased in play. I.E Jacksonville & now the Redskins. I knew we could beat the Redskins when I seen the Steelers shutdown their Offense.

P.s just found out some interesting news. The ravens chances of making the playoffs has jumped from just 18.2% to 82% after the win in Cinnci.. Check out the LINK http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NFL/AFC/North/Ravens.html

If the Skins don't win they'll blame it on the weather or injuries, they always have an excuse. They never look at the possibility that they suck and fold at the end of the season.

Redskins fans are just nervous period. Their playoff hopes are slipping. They've started talking QB controversies. Some of them are calling for Todd Collins to start (He did go 5-1 last year). Jim Zorn had to shoot that down today. They are hitting a bad stride at the wrong time.

But we can't blame them too much. We did get clobbered by the Giants as well. But at least we weren't playing at home.

Yea but what fans of any team would not have an excuse. We always have an excuse on here when we lose. It's all part of being a fan. If you are a Lions , or KC fan, then you have to admit your team sucks. I still blame last season on injuries.

I have even heard some Skins fans cry to put Colt Brennan in. They don't seem to confident in what Jason can do.

I'm really excited to watch the game, it's only primetime Ravens games I can watch in HD because I live in Chicago, otherwise it's always low quality on the internet streams.

One thing though Pure, just because Randle el hasn't been making plays doesn't mean we shouldn't put it past him to make big plays.

So have I. To be far, it isn't all Cambell's fault. Their wide recievers aren't the best, and their OL isn't holding up. But how many of these Redskins fans were the same fans that were drooling about how great Cambell and the Redskins were when they were on a winning streak.

I remember hearing how unstoppable Cambell and Moss were. But then teams started shutting down Moss.

Thats not really true, when we lost to the Giants and Colts we didn't say oh Its because we have about 20 people on our IR list. No, we knew our team just didnt show up that day. and we excepted the losses for what they were.

we should be able to manhandle the Portis led Skins. nobody outside of Portis really scares me, plus Zorn's trying to fit square pegs into round holes with his version of the WCO. You would think Billick is running that offense the way it is being operated!! And with our defense having lit a fire under their arses, we should be flirting with another shutout opportunity.

I'm looking for Flacco to have another huge day airing it out. you got to love the fact that he gets to pick on DeAngelo 'dude where's the ball' Hall.....again. well actually he gets to pick on Smoot too!!!

I agree. We should have plenty of time in the pocket. Clayton might have a chance to have another big game against DeAngelo.

And I just can't buy into Zorn as a good rookie head coach. The guy is just way to corny for my liking. What's with the hip-hip-hooray stuff? Next he's going to have his team get in a circle after a loss and start the "1-2-3-4 who do we appreciate - Blue team, Blue Team, yea Blue Team!" He's been blessed with talented team.

I like how we match up against the Redskins. They've had trouble with teams that can run. It makes me wonder if McGahee a better match up and thats why he sat out the Bengals game.

I also like how we've been good at kicking teams when they are down.

We beat them @ FedEx Field in 2004.

Anyways, the Redskins have had trouble all year with teams with good defenses. As Portis goes, the Redskins go. Portis is banged up and the Ravens have one of the best run defenses in the league. They can't handle teams who can smack them in the mouth.

The Skins defensive line is one of the worst in the NFL. We should be able to pound the ball all game. If they stack the box Flacco has Mason, Clayton, and Heap to throw to.

I think think we are like the #1 TE defense in the NFL. Cooley will be a non-factor.

That would be great. But here's what I would like to see this week, Flacco throws for 2 or 3 TD's and gets over the 300 passing yard mark and LeRon McClain breaks a 100 yard running and possibly gets 2 TD's as well.

Cooley going to have to block a lot in this game. Because you know Rex.....Blitz or Bust.
Whenever he plays good DL's , he has a quiet game.
