Ravens @ Broncos, Best Game of 2012

64 posts in this topic

As a ravens fan I am biased and think this was the best game I have ever seen but even if I wasnt, I think this was a top 5 game of my generation.  If it was snowing, that would have been the icing on the cake but it had it all.

Ray Lewis, a living legend, playing what was supposed to be his last game

peyton manning, a living legend, trying to make a comeback and prove he can still win and play in cold weather

Joe Flacco, a talented but inconsistant QB trying to prove doubters wrong

trindon holliday, a role player trying to steal the game with 2 huge plays for the broncos

corey graham, a role player trying to steal the game for the ravens

Torrey Smith, a great young player making big plays versus champ bailey, the former top corner in the NFL

THE play that every big game needs, Flacco to Jacoby Jones for a ridiculously improbable touchdown.

Cold weather that was below freezing, how playoff football should be played

The ULTRA rare double OT game

The ravens, a team who lost the previous season with a chip shot FG miss, cut there kicker and the UDFA rookie nails a 47 yarder in the freezing cold to win it

I could watch this game once a week for the rest of my life and it wont get old.  I will be buying the entire Blu Ray of the playoff run when it comes out next week for my dad for fathers day and for myself and I will attempt to watch it in order but I doubt I enjoy the colts game looking forward to this masterpiece

Mahatma:   Thanks for the story, love that you were there in enemy territory and described a little bit of the atmosphere there.   The smack that the Denver fans were talking, riding the high of their wins vs easy opponents....I'm sure reality crashed down on them hard.   I do feel bad, because we definitely felt it last year in the loss to the Pats

I will never forget the game, nor the hype leading up to it. All the "pundits" saying that we had no chance against the "computer", all the arrogant Broncos fans I know, as well as those who came on here trolling (especially that guy who posted a novel every time he made a comment).

A truly inspirational performance that sort of solidified for me that it was our year.

I was at buffalo wild wing's... I may have scared a few women and children

Hahaha

I watched the AFCCG against the Patriots (yeah, THAT one) on a pretty average stream, and I remember feeling numb for the whole day after Billy Cundiff bottled that kick.

When we trailed 35-28 I was ready to start crying this time. We'd been through so much during the season, we'd defied the odds again this time, but it looked like we were going to lose because of some once-in-a-season muppetry from the special teams. I just thought about how tragic it was that we were about to lose in such a disappointing way.

What I won't forget, however, is that gut feeling I got that Joe would pull something out of his [profanity deleted] and tie the game on that final drive. When he got that bomb past Rahim Moore I went ballistic. It was possibly the best feeling I've gotten watching any sports.

I think losing to the Patriots like we did the season before gave me a real perspective and that made the miracle win so much greater.

Couldn't agree more with this post

One of the two guys on the NFL channel on Sirius the week prior to the game.

"This game isnt even worth talking about. Denver will win this one easily . "

What do the broncos fans chant all the time? Sounds like something from the movie 300.

On now. Looks like it's the NFL Replay version, which is weird because it's supposed to be 3 hours. NFL Replay is usually condensed. We'll see.

Love the NFL Films stuff.

EDIT: looks like it's essentially the original CBS broadcast with some NFL Films stuff thrown in.

The game lasted at least 4 and a half hours. It is condensed.

I miss Boldin, but for all the things people say about him catching the ball, it seems like he has at least one drop every game.

NFL Replay is typically only 1.5 hours, so it's an extended version.

And I agree about Boldin. For all the talk about him "bailing out" Flacco (lol), everyone seems to forget, say, @PIT 2010 Divisional. Flacco sure could've used some bailing out there.

I feel like I've rewatched the first Flacco/Smith TD 1000 times. One of the prettiest deep passes I've ever seen from Flacco.

In-com-plete

After every incomplete pass. Or whenever they remember

IN-COM-PLETE after the announcer says "that pass attempt was...."

I forgot about that ridiculous overzealous ref signaling the first down after that 4th attempt

Wow, Peyton was really missing some throws this game. A few to some wide open guys, tossing it into the dirt or missing too far to one side.

Yep. He was erratic. The Broncos as a whole missed a lot of opportunities.

Also...uh...did we really go the entire first half without converting a 3rd down? lol

I feel that tis game will set the tone for our season. If we come out swinging, then the rest of the league knows we're serious for a repeat. I just hope we can win one of the home field advantage. We got the 2nd spot twice, but we can better it by getting the top seed, so the Super Bowl goes through us.

Best game of the year?? Really??!!

This was one of the all time greats. Seriously, had we lost, I would have been okay with that, because I was incredibly proud of our boys and how much heart they showed that night.
