Ravens @ Broncos, Best Game of 2012

64 posts in this topic

nfl.com has been running through the top 20 games of the 2012 season and the Ravens/Broncos playoff game was ranked as the top game of the year. LINK

Pretty obvious why, I know it was my favorite and something that I will remember the rest of my life.

NFL Network is also re-airing the top 3 games on Saturday (6/1), culminating with the Ravens game at 8PM ET. It'll also be on Sunday, 6/2, at 2PM. I'll be tuning in and you know it's on the DVR.

Also, the Super Bowl was ranked #5 and the Ravens/Pats was #9

Oh hell yes! I never recorded the second OT so this will be great to see the complete game.

Is it a condensed game or full on?

It's on between 8 to 11 so I assume only little bits are condensed. Hard to cut out any sizeable portion of that game, really.

Very true. Thanks for the heads up, B.

To me that is the best game i have ever watched, obviously being a little biased.  But that game had everything...PR for a td, KR for a td, INT for a td, 70yard td.  Just simply amazing.

I'm not surprised I expected it to be number 1. It had everything you look for in a game 2 great teams, cold weather, high stakes, big plays, hall of famers, overtime and underdogs. The best part is I have that whole game on my phone, makes me feel good on bad days.

That was simply the best game I have ever seen. Never seen anything like it. I remember reading somewhere that Denver had a 98.5% chance of winning that game before the Jacoby play. My heart literally stopped for about 5 seconds... Awesome!!!!

My calendar says Saturday is June 1.

It is tomorrow. Should probably be corrected in the topic tag.

When the replay was first aired in January it wasn't aired under the usual "NFL Replay." It was aired under "NFL Classic Games," which is essentially the full broadcast. I'm guessing that's what we'll be seeing tomorrow.

Anyway my DVR deleted the live broadcast of this game when it ran out of space, so I'll make sure to record it. Thanks for the heads up.

no question, no argument.

That might be the,,, no, it IS the best game I have ever watched in my life.

The OTHER thing I remember about that game is how freaking LATE it ended and the fact that I was SO wound up I could not fall asleep for about an hour and a half afterward.

I think I ended up going to bed around three AM

Probably my favorite game of all time. I remember on the morning of that game turning on Madden and watching Ray Lewis say "I've always been told.. I'm not big enough, I'm not fast enough, I don't have what it takes". It made me think about how the media told us we couldn't win, we didn't have "what it takes".. The vibe completely flipped around for me and I went from thinking we might lose to thinking that the heart of this football team can't be matched, no weapon formed against this team shall prosper. It was the first time that season that I truly believed we had a legitimate shot to win the SB.

Before every playoff game last year I looked up at all my Ray Lewis memorabilia I've collected over the years and took a moment to appreciate everything Ray has done for this franchise and this city. Just hoping it wouldn't be the last time I got to have that moment of clarity for Ray before a Ravens game. It might take several years before we truly realize just how great that SB run really was, one day this epic tale of Ray Lewis' final climb to the peak of the football world will be a piece of football folk lore.

This game happened on my birthday so I'm more than a little biased, but I can't think of a better game that I've ever seen. Even before the Jacoby catch, I thought we played an outstanding game and I wouldn't have been too upset had we lost. No one was giving us a chance to win that game so the fact that we played the SB favorites that close was an achievement in itself. Then came the "Mile High Miracle" and the rest was history. Best birthday present ever.

As it should be. That was the greatest game I have ever seen. I have never felt so many emotions during a football game, ever. After that game, my dad and I talked about how we won the SB that night. The amount of doubt in my mind that we'd take it all after that game was very very slim, and that was do to the realist in me.

I feel so robbed. I was working during this game and only caught the very beginning and end. Watching the recording is still amazing though.

Oh awesome. It should be #1. That was the best game I'd ever seen. Yeah I'm a Ravens fan, but the way all aspects of our team (Offense, Defense and Special Teams) played in the 2nd half was amazing. Joe's TD pass to Jacoby to tie it up, Graham's interception and then Tucker's game winner...just epic. My Dad and I went crazy during that game.

moved to denver in 98 so I only got to see the ravens live 4 or 5 times (aside from the game i went to in Memorial in 96) all of which were special, but this one was life altering. My bro scored some tix at 11:30 that mourning! luckily it was cold enough to make older psl not want to attend. I was 9 rows from the field, on the visitor side, at the 15 yard line.... Jacoby caught that right in front of me! Every time ray had a tak the broncs fans would boo so i screamed at the top of my lungs. i was hoarse by the end and, mind you, i sing in a metal band. At the end a buncha players were sticking around thanking the smattering of ravens fans (most i've seen here yet) and we were hugging and high 5in each other. then you got out to the ramps and street and it was like a funeral procession. Here and there you heard "your gonna lose to the pats" i respectfully didn't talk back as a form of condolence. One of the best days of my life

this game still dominates sports talk around denver and reporters still question the players about it ad nauseum  Del Rio is sick of it and basically told denver to get over it and move on

3 of the top 10 games of 2012!

Damn what a ride!!!

I was at Camp Shelby, MS preparing to deploy when this game was on. I only got to see snippets. I was like here we go again when Flacco had that fumble. It was a back an forth battle the whole way and I got to see the opening of the 2OT when Tucker made the GW FG

I watched the AFCCG against the Patriots (yeah, THAT one) on a pretty average stream, and I remember feeling numb for the whole day after Billy Cundiff bottled that kick.

When we trailed 35-28 I was ready to start crying this time. We'd been through so much during the season, we'd defied the odds again this time, but it looked like we were going to lose because of some once-in-a-season muppetry from the special teams. I just thought about how tragic it was that we were about to lose in such a disappointing way.

What I won't forget, however, is that gut feeling I got that Joe would pull something out of his ass and tie the game on that final drive. When he got that bomb past Rahim Moore I went ballistic. It was possibly the best feeling I've gotten watching any sports.

I think losing to the Patriots like we did the season before gave me a real perspective and that made the miracle win so much greater.

The best game of all time in my opinion. I was watching the game with my Dad, and kept telling him, "Joe's gonna pull something off here. He's got it. He's going to win this for us". Dad then went out of the room with one minute left in the game with us deep in our own territory, with little hope left, to get showered for church the next day. When Joe threw that beautiful pass to Jones, I started screaming and yelling and jumping up and down, and he got dressed real fast and came out and couldn't believe his eyes. I knew Joe would pull that off. He's clutch, and that's his thing. Best game of NFL history.
