Who's Playoff Bound?

52 posts in this topic

I chose Flacco over Pennington as my back up QB and couldn't be more happy with the outcome. Look, I would not start Pennington over Flacco, not with Camarillo out and the Fins just using the run game to establish the offensive rythm. I'd go Flacco over Pennington he has been average 21 points per game over the past month.
This week, I'm starting:

Chad Pennington
Wes Welker
Eddie Royal
Hines Ward
Derrick Mason
Steve Slaton
Pierre Thomas
Dustin Keller
T.J. Houshmandzadeh (flex)
Matt Prater
Miami

And there's some individual defenders too:

Jon Beason
Nick Collins
Quentin Jammer
DeMeco Ryans
Karlos Dansby

I should (keyphrase: SHOULD) have an easy matchup this week since my opponent hasn't touched his team in weeks, but he's lucked out with starting Matt Cassel, Brandon Marshall, Andre Johnson, Brian Westbrook and Stephen Gostkowski every week. He still has Felix Jones starting in his flex spot though (he's been out since Week 6 and is on IR).

I was tempted to start Flacco this week, but I'm not taking any chances. Granted, the Dolphins haven't played well in cold weather and all...but it's against the Bills, so I'll just play it safe.
This isn't a playoff week for you is it? Did the guy who hasn't changed his lineup make the playoffs? We have one of those guys in our league. He hasn't touched his line up since week 4 but he's first place. He has Cutler, Forte, Chris Johnson. Lucky ****!

He's still got a good team. Cassell should have a big game. Marshall should too, since the last weeks he has faces shut down corners.
VINCENT JACKSON IS KILLING ME. I laughed at my opponent for starting him and he is torching me. I'm so mad.
I traded him away a few weeks ago.

Antonio Gates has done nil for me in this game and it doesn't look like he will with the Chargers being up so much. Gates is going to leave me with a big fat 0 in this game.

Nope, the playoffs start next week for our league. And the guy I'm facing will probably make the playoffs even if I beat him this week -- unless neepo loses to Jon; he needs a win over neepo AND a loss by my opponent to make it in, and that's assuming he gets the tiebreaker.

Neepo is a virtual lock at the #2 seed (and gets a bye next week), unless she loses her matchup and I win mine AND have more points accumulated throughout the season.

Alright I'm in good shape. While my opponent did start Jackson (sad face) they also started McFadden and Gates and they laid big fat eggs on the board so I like that. So now it looks like this...

Romo vs Warner
Jacobs vs S Jackson
Slaton vs McFadden (0)
Johnson vs Jackson (22)
Royal vs White
Bruce vs Ward
Keller vs Gates (0)
Bucs vs Giants
Rackers vs Stover

I have 9 players to play while they only got 22 out of a starting WR, RB, and TE...I like that.

I benched GARCIA.....

I was one of those players that start Vincent Jackson....lol
i got lucky...this **** is luck sometimes..unles u really get lucky wit those extremely consistant players...or trade constanty like i do....but i think flacco is going to do wel hasnt thrown many interception in awhile i think one in the eagles game...but i think sunday he will dump it off or run it, he knows how fast the skins r on throwing the ball...but i think be will beat them deep at least once, they will be playering all there players on the line and our rookie line pulls in number

I drafted Drew Brees, but made the mistake of trading him for Tom Brady. So, after Brady's injury, I picked up both Flacco and Pennington out of desperation -- and both paid off.

BUT...I'm being extra-cautious this week, because I don't like Flacco's matchup against the Redskins' secondary. That's not to say that I think Flacco will play horribly, but I think Pennington will have a better game against the Bills, even without Camarillo. Ted Ginn Jr. leads the Dolphins in receiving yards (second on team in catches), and Patrick Cobbs/Davone Bess/David Martin/Anthony Fasano have contributed this season.

Plus, the Dolphins have the 7th-ranked passing attack. So, it's not as if Miami leans entirely on the run.

Again, just playing it safe since I can sneak my way into the #2 seed in my league (and earn a bye) if I win this week and luck goes my way with another game.

u also have to put trust in the ravens recievers...u know they are going to put alot in to the box...so if some one gets open that one on one...and clayton wit that catch the other day and mason is money...i dont think i would ever be saying this but it is true..and the only reason why i beleive is because it gets better every week literally

Well I got knocked out of all three of my league's playoffs today. Brandon Marshall and Matt Ryan went crazy on me. I'm glad the fantasy season is over, so know I can concentrate on the Ravens.

I am literally on the verge of taking my first loss in weeks. I'm only up by three points right now, 258-255.

The dude I'm matched up against, like I said earlier, hasn't touched his team in weeks and has two starters on IR.

Buuuut...he has Matt Cassel and Brian Westbrook, who both had monster games today. Cassel torched me for 50 points, while Westbrook put up 41. Add to that Brandon Marshall's 32, Andre Johnson's 18, Stephen Gostkowski's 17 (yes, the kicker), and individual defenders putting up points like Seattle's Josh Wilson (22) and Arizona's Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (25), and the Cowboys D pulling out 25 points, and that all adds up to a pretty bad day.

He's got Carolina's Muhsin Muhammad tomorrow night, while I have Carolina's Jon Beason on the other side of the ball. So, I have to hope that Carolina has a horrible day on offense tomorrow night so Beason gets lots of action. :(

I'm not sure if I can hold onto this three-point lead...I'm hoping that tomorrow morning's adjustment for tackles will be in my favor...

dude how the hell is your league scored?! lol 250 is a HUGE number

Anyway, I have the Bucs D still to play and I'm down 5. I feel pretty good about my matchup. If I had started Flacco over Romo I would have won already.

Well, it helps that receivers are just as valuable as running backs (especially the elite receivers).

And, we have individual defenders, which most leagues don't usually have. We, as collective Ravens fans in our league, value defense, so that's our way of showing it...lol.

FYI, my three-point lead has now changed to only a one-point league this morning, after the adjustments for tackles were made.

I'm now up only 260-259.

I know right. Franchise has a crazy point league. He said Cassell had 50. I had to check my gamecenter again, because I didn't think Cassell scored that many for me. Cassell scored 20something for me. But he was one of my best players.

What do you think of the Bucs against Carolina being able to scrounge up 5 points on defense? I feel pretty good about it. Delhomme throws a good amount of picks and he doesn't have a great line. The Bucs can find a way to score 5

What do they get points for in your league? Do they start off with any? Like 8 points. If they do, then I say the D will for sure do it. They are consistent week in and week out.

Well I needed 5 and I got... 5 lol that tied it up and I won the tie breaker with points off the bench man this last two weeks I have tied! That can't happen very often. Anyway, headed to the finals!

Oh so Flacco starts against the Steelers and Romo against the Giants...not good
I'm thinking of picking up Shaun Hill and starting him against the Dolphins instead?

Good move or bad move?

Whoaaaa...assuming that the scoring holds up after adjustments tomorrow, my matchup stands with me having stolen the W by 10 points, 277-266.

And I might've snuck into the #2 seed if I win the tiebreaker (!)

Shaun Hill has been very consistent since starting for the 49ers. And the match-up is great against the Dolphins. Their secondary is horrible. Cassell threw for 400+ and 4 TDs against them. But it's hard benching Romo. Even moreso because they are playing in Dallas.

Well, I'm not the #2 seed after all; even with identical records, I was 41 points shy of tying neepo's point total, and I would've won the head-to-head tiebreaker.

So, I'm stuck with the #3 seed, and the unenviable position of having to choose my roster carefully with some tough matchups for my team this week or face elimination.
