Favorite Pit Beef place in Baltimore Area

26 posts in this topic

I've been in the Baltimore area for around 20 years. I'm ashamed to admit I haven't been to many iconic places in Baltimore to eat.  I'm looking to get a really good pit beef sandwich. Asking around through family and friends I hear Chaps is the best. I'm thinking of going there this weekend unless anyone has another place I should check out. Let me know your favorite places to get some good grub?

Yeah go to Chaps.  It's the dumpiest little place, but it's definitely the best I've had.

Lol no kidding. I feel like I'll step on a needle walking around there. Their foods is bombing though. The Raven is good. Lol.
It is a bit pricey but all those places are.

Chaps also have GREAT ribs.

I'm a fan of Canopy Pit Beef. I go to the one in Glen Burnie. It's also pretty much a dump, but I love their beef.

A list of some good restaurants:

Honey Pig, Ellicott City (not if you want real Korean BBQ, but it's a fun place)

Bon Chon, Ellicott City (off the chain Korean buffalo wings)

Chaps, Baltimore City (great Pit Beef)

Chicken Rico, Highlandtown (the bomb Peruvian Chicken)

Those are the ones off the top of my head. They don't all sell pit beef, but I saw some other restaurants that didn't sell pit beef here so I figured I'd throw some more in the pot.

Yep. I love their chicken with some white rice and the green and yellow sauce with some plantains. Damn good food.

Oh man I'm going to eat good this entire month. I'm going to Chaps this evening. I'll post my thoughts when I come back.

Now I do know in Fells Point and Canton area they're three places that I recommend. Abby's burgers and Magerks right across from the cross street market are good. The third is brick oven pizza, best pizza you'll ever have. Magerks has an authentic Philly cheese steak that is the exact same as Geno's or Pat's in Philly. Abby's burgers are delicious you can top them anyway you want. Brick oven can make your pizza with any topping imaginable and they do personal pans for you.

Pretty good food. I had the pit beef special with onions and horseradish and a little house BBQ sauce. I also had a half & half and fries. I really enjoyed the meal. I'll review the other suggestions for my next meal.

You gotta go to Bon Chon and Chicken Rico. They got some killer food. Bon Chon is like an Asian style Buffalo Wills Wings with less flavors lol. It's awesome though.

You also have to try Chaps' ribs. They're awesome.

I will look up Bon Chon and Chicken Rico. Are Chap's ribs as good as corner Stable or Andy Nelson's?

The Corner Stable has two restaurants one in Cockeysville, and the other in Columbia. It's the best rib I've ever eaten if you're a fan of sweet tender ribs. Andy Nelson's is in Cockeysville also and you can go in or get whatever you want through the drive-thru and I like everything they serve.
